Starting today, PlayStation users in the US and Canada can now rent a selection of movies and TV shows for US$ 0.99 for SD versions and US$ 1.99 for HD versions through the video section of the PlayStation Store. Then, every Tuesday thereafter, a selection of movies and TV shows will be released in the PlayStation Store at discounted prices, while the previous ones will return to their original price.

This week's selection will include:

Sicko
The Longshots
Salvage
Tony
Shank
Bonded By Blood
JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
Deadly Blessing (Directed by Wes Craven)
Carver
Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher's Pet 2)
Illuminating Angels & Demons

Sony says that since its initial debut last July, the US$ 1.99 movie rental program has been one of the most requested features by the PlayStation Network community. Last week, Sony also unveiled its own summer arcade promotion called the PSN PLAY.
