Re: some help with my pc.
Hello fruityhead
I assume you are using windows 7, so here is what i know regarding to your problem ..
1st solution :
Desktop gadgets disappear when you have UAC turned off, so turn it back on to its lowest setting and see if the gadgets works as it should be.
2nd solution :
Do you have desktop icons hidden?
the Gadgets also disappear if Show Desktop Items is disabled.
So, try and show your desktop hidden icons and see if the gadgets works as it should be now.
3rd Solution :
There maybe some kind of bug in the way the Gadgets component is behaving.
So, Try this:
-Press the WINKEY+R to bring up the Run Dialog Box.
-Copy / Paste this line in the Open box :
%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /showGadgets
(Make sure this command is entered exactly as shown, including the spaces and characters)
-Press OK.
Does this start the Gadget component?
If this does not work, open Control Panel, select All Control Panel Items.
Click Programs and Features to open.
In the Tasks Pane (left side) click Turn Windows Features On or Off.
~This window will take a couple of minutes to open, be patient~
When this window opens, scroll down and make sure that the Windows Gadget Platform has a check mark. If it is not checked, place a check mark in the box and select OK.
Let me know if one of these solutions works for you.
Good luck.

Re: some help with my pc.
Okay then, can you try and login as a different user and see if it still works, also did you download any new gadgets recently?
By the way, I'd suggest running the System File Checker
If nothing did well then, honestly, if i were you I'd have given up gadgets entirely and I would advise you to do the same.
The actual utility they bring to the table is not worth all the hassle.
Personally, I believe Microsoft messed them up for us through a KB update, and all we can do now is live without them.
Instead, if you ever needed to know the CPU/RAM usages? I'd advice you to use www.rainmeter.net~
Rainmeter is a free Windows application that enhances your desktop with a ton of cool widgets and features. You can monitor your system performance, the time and date, weather, RSS feeds, and many other things.
it's much more enjoyable and customizable .

i will see. i only have one account. will try another account.
By the way,

i did run it and this is what i saw. "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation." so i guess its not corrupt.

Re: some help with my pc.
i also noticed that when i turn on/restart my pc. and when the gadgets doesn't show up. one program that i have doesn't start, and that program i have is The Weather Channel. when it start? the program doesn't load up. it just stays loading forever. so i need to right-click to shut down the program next to the time. and open it and then it works. nut sometime when i turn on/restart the pc and the gadgets load up TWC also loads up too. kind weird. wonder why that happens? could be errors on my pc? i also noticed when open TWC i see ADS saying my pc has error and its slow. it might be true that my pc is slow. i use a SSD for windows only and to install some programs on my SSD. i have the magnifier pin on my taskbar. and i notice it takes a little longer to load up. before it load up quick, but now takes a little while long for it to load up.
Re: some help with my pc.

Re: some help with my pc.
Ugh Norton. Get rid of that shit. Install something like Avast instead. (Anything that isn.t 9.0.x though, because Avast 9.0.x is still awful right now, so go with 7.0.x or 8.0.x).

This means you have trojans/malware on your computer. Is your MBAM (Malwarebytes Antimalware) up to date and fully functional? If not, update it, reboot your computer into Safe mode and do a full scan of your computer.
It's also very possible that your desktop is just modified via registry entries blocking wallpaper edits/gadgets from running through said malware.
If you cleaned up your computer, and sidebar still isn't working, then go to Task manager and kill sidebar.exe (IF it's showing up) and then use regedit.
Locate the following key: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\Zones\].
Delete it. Then restart sidebar.exe.
Only attempt the above after making sure your computer is 100% clean of viruses/malware/trojans though. So that can be ruled out first.
Re: some help with my pc.
huh? is there something wrong with Norton? this is my 2nd antivirus I pick. the 1st one I had was McAfee, had it for 2 or more years. I decided to get a different one so I got Norton because it was on sale. so what's wrong with Norton?
so that's why I keep seeing ads in TWC. I did went to safe mode and scan it using Norton and malwarebyte both updated. and didn't found nothing, just tracking cookies that's. anything else to do?
I finally know how to open my gadgets when they don't turn on when I turn on/restart my pc. I just need to log off and log in and then my gadgets will turn on.

Well you can never tell if someone is using your computer like a remote in one of the gadgets... So Anti-virus is pretty much unless... If they are using a exploited in a gadget your Anti-virus will never pick it up.
A firewall Program will however tho... ZoneAlarm Extreme Security. with spy/antivirus is what I been using for about 10years.. keeps the hackers out..

Norton is extremely bloated, and it interferes with many programs. On top of that it does things without your permission. And as for the bloated thing I mentioned - It will slow down your computer considerably, even if you have a powerful one.
It used to be a great antivirus, back in 2003, when it was just that - an AV. (Norton Antivirus 2003 Professional), which I used myself. Then they released the dreaded 2004 version which started the downhill process of Norton products.
Avast is free, and offers better protection than Norton does, and it's less demanding of your computer.
As for the ads you keep getting about cleaning your comp - Check the installed programs on your computer, see if there's stuff like "Clean PC" or "System Optimizer" stuff like that installed. I find it odd that MBAM isn't finding anything, because it usually does pick stuff like that up real quick, unless it's somehow disabled.
Re: some help with my pc.
oh ok, so firewall is the way to go. good thing I have it. the Norton firewall. not windows firewall because it sucks.

hmmm I see. for me it doesn't feel slow. my pc anyway. so if Norton sucks? well i'll wait until my subscription is over, in about 62 days. and to get a different one. I was thinking eset nod 32? what do you think?

nope nothing I check the programs and features and no "clean pc" are install. i remember a few weeks ago Malwarebyte found something. it was the TWC app. when it was updated. i use Norton to scan my drive c: and didn't found nothing. so i did a quick scan and found some cookies. so i Malwarebyte and i updated and full scan, and did it found some something. but im thinking it was some toolbar? not really sure. so that was the only thing it found.
