Installing Linux for the first time on my unused laptop so I can use it to take notes in classes.
I was about to make a post asking about games and word like programs I can use when I saw that your post answered my question!

Or, if you have the space, you can dual boot. I run XP Pro in VBox on my Slackware. That way I don't worry about crossover apps. Adding more options. Thanks for the list.

Indeed.
If CrossOver and other such compatibility programs/applications don't work for you, then I suggest dual-booting or running Windows in a Virtual Box.
