Personally, I manually added the flaming skull mask and a couple other level 50 items. It would be quite funny to do this with a rank 1 save and join random games.

I don't think you'll find player health, weapon ammo/damage, or item attribute (bonuses) in the gamesave. All of that information is located in one of the main game files and I've seen no evidence that it's reproduced in, let alone sourced from, the gamesave. Then again, I could be wrong... ...and hopefully I am. Still looking for any possible reference to a "dev" weapon/item that you would NOT normally ever get. That would be nice to have equipped!
Care to share your findings buddy?

As for duplicate stats within the main con file, from what I could tell a lot of the duplicate information is irrelevant and even outdated from the current stats stored in the extractable "slot0" file. The ectracted file is where the current stats are located. Modifying everything is just 2x the work for 0x the benefit, espeicially if you are manually modifying stats such as loadouts and available inventory items.

It's fairly straight forward, add in items by overwriting existing items and/or using the empty space available in the save assuming you don't corrupt the gamesave. Non weapon items are particularly easy to add since they are 01, 02, 03 variations going from low to high levels. Weapons are a bit more difficult since they are listed under their individual names and you have to add/remove bytes without corrupting the gamesave or find a weapon with the same amount of characters and overwrite it's information. When you overwrite an existing item in your inventory you can still get it again in game as a random drop or for a level completion.

All the names of the available items are listed in the "Xbox360_Config.sar" file found in the main game, which can be extracted using "wxpirs".

Here's a short Video demonstrating renaming low level equipment to their level 50 equivalent's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdeIs1Kpnq4

There is a bit more detail in the text description below the video on the video's main YT page.

On a side note, I went through every weapon and every equipment item listed in the "Xbox360_Config.sar" file and didn't see any DEV/DEBUG/uber/etc items, just the items you would normally be able to get in game. However, there are cheats and dev/debug keyboard binding listed in the "Xbox360_Config.sar" file. I wouldn't even begin to know how to get that work on a retail copy of the game.
Very well explained. Really appreciate it man.
