O2 service covers more than 7,000 locations
Nintendo UK has signed a deal with 02 enabling 3DS owners to access free Wi-Fi through thousands of hotspots.
Now live in selected areas, with a full rollout due over the coming weeks, the service is free for everyone, regardless of their network or broadband provider
3DS owners will be able to access the internet in over 7,000 locations covered by the O2 Wi-Fi service including McDonalds, Debenhams, Pizza Hut, Costa, House of Fraser and Toby Carvery outlets.
O2's Wi-Fi service also covers public venues such as The O2, Twickenham and Bluewater, plus the Central London boroughs of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.
3DS owners will need to ensure they've downloaded the latest system update to use the service for browsing, online gaming, or to access entertainment content.
Nintendo said today that upcoming content available to download on 3DS includes 3D trailers for Iron Man 3, Monsters University and Epic, plus 3D Kirby animations and extreme sports action from Red Bull.
UK marketing and PR director Shelly Pearce said: "We're always looking at ways to improve the user experience for Nintendo 3DS owners. This partnership with O2 means that gamers will now have access to all of the unique online features offered by Nintendo Zone in more locations than ever before."
