New Metroid Film Project Already Thriving On Kickstarter

The wait may be over for Metroid fans who have longed to see their favorite intergalactic bounty hunter star in her own film. A team of talented actors and producers have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Metroid: Enemies Within, a “10-minute live-action fan film based on Nintendo’s video game series Metroid.” Production credits include Emmy-nominated Christian Cardona in the director’s chair, and actress Rebecca Marshall, of the film Raze, in the role of Samus Aran. Disclaimers on the page reveal that the film lacks endorsement from Nintendo.

Although Enemies Within claims to be a short film project, the development of a feature-length film may hinge on its success, as one of the project’s two main goals is “to demonstrate the viability of Metroid as a film franchise.” The campaign features a two-minute video of detailed storyboards, and already boasts over $7500 of donations after being live for only four days. Donors are eligible to receive a Metroid T-shirt, a signed copy of the script, and other Metroid-themed collectibles. A generous donation of $10,000 or more will earn the fan Samus’s helmet and costume used in the film.

With an iconic outer space shot of Samus’s ship pictured on the site from the project’s effects test stills, Cardona and crew are sure to appeal to die-hard followers of the series. As quoted from Kickstarter: “With the enormous talent and resources of the assembled creatives, we are confident that we can deliver an exciting proof-of-concept with production value on par with today’s top commercial films.”

I'm not sure if I'll get used to Samus being someone that talks often. Let's hope she doesn't seem like a sad, emotional-wreck character.
I hope she just goes in, destroys stuff, and story expositions will happen through the environments.
Samus needs some major love, which she didn't get for her 25th Anniversary, unlike the other Nintendo IP of the same age. [At least us fans made the special Harmony Of A Hunter albums]

Great share but the actress doesn't even come close to how Samus looks. I don't even think Rebecca Marshall is 6'3 like Samus.
