A licensed board game based on Capcom's iconic character Mega Man has eclipsed its funding target on Kickstarter in less than a day.

Texan company Jasco Games launched its Kickstarter project yesterday, asking for $70,000 in crowdfunding. At time of writing, the project has made $151,319 with 37 days left to go.

"Kickstarter funding will allow us to use better materials, offer more extras like miniatures, cards, extra boards, and polish the finalized product, giving fans an even better experience and something that will be worthy of any Mega Man enthusiast's collection," said Jasco games.

"We wanted fans to have a chance to show their support for Mega Man and be involved in this exciting process."

The Mega Man board game will be a "side-scrolling" board game for between 2 and 8 players, the company says. The game features a central board, with 'stages' for the series' robot master boards able to slot in. Players will simultaneously control both their characters and Dr Wily's forces, working for their own success and to hamper the progress of other player.

The basic set, which will be a gift to those who donate $60 or higher to the campaign, features 4 robot master boards and the central Dr. Wily board, 12 robot master boss cards, 4 preconstructed player decks of 40 cards, 4 character cards, 32 tokens, and 9 game pieces.

Due to licensing agreements with Capcom, the Mega Man board game can only be shipped to addresses in North America.
