When you think of exotic getaway destinations, what comes to mind? Sparkling tropical beaches? Lush green jungles? Weird mutant hybrids waiting to tear your face off? If you said yes to the last one you might be interested to hear that the original Far Cry is coming to the Xbox 360 via download next week.
Though the Far Cry 3 Expedition bundle was revealed last month, it's now been announced via the Ubi Blog that the previously PC-exclusive first game in the series will also be available for download from the Xbox Games Store.
If you're only familiar with the Xbox 360 entries in the Far Cry saga, you might not have played the first game in the series before - in it you play as Jack Carver, a Hawaiian-shirt wearing ship captain who gets stranded on a tropical island when his vessel is destroyed by mercenaries. Before long, mutant-y things begin to occur.
This was the first - and only - game in the series to be made by Crytek before they left Ubisoft to make Crysis. Development for every instalment since has been undertaken by Ubisoft Montreal, beginning from the original Xbox exclusive Far Cry Instincts right through until last year's Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.Attachment 13688The announcement only makes note of the US release date and price - $9.99 on the 11th, but as a listing also exists on the UK Xbox Game Store it's probably safe to assume we'll see it too.
Anyone else ever play the first game before and if not, are you tempted to pick this up? Let us know in the comments.
