Wii U Virtual Console
Super Mario Kart (Nintendo, €7.99 / £5.49) — The original karting extravaganza that started it all lands on the Wii U, with this Super NES release set to build out hype that little bit more ahead of the eighth entry arriving in May. Those diving in will notice how different the controls feel, but this still undoubtedly stands up as a hugely fun game in the modern day.
Mighty Bomb Jack (Tecmo, €4.99 / £3.49) — Another NES title joins the Wii U VC library, this time in the form of Tecmo's arcade platformer. This is a rather difficult game with secrets to discover; it won't be for everyone.
Ninja Gaiden (Tecmo, €4.99 / £3.49) — More Tecmo NES goodness, this time in the form of the iconic and outrageously difficult action game. Respawning enemies, tricky jumps and the classic 'bounce-back-when-hit' mechanic will test skills and patience.

3DS Virtual Console
Adventure Island II (Konami, €4.99 / £4.49) — This sequel in the somewhat iconic series improves on the controls and overall gameplay of the original, as should surely be the case, while you can also ride dinosaurs for an easier trek through the levels.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99) — Available from 28th March. This cross-over between the popular Level-5 and Capcom franchises has taken a while to make it to the West, and delivers an enjoyable mix of the Professor's gentlemanly puzzle solving and Phoenix Wright's humorous, over-the-top courtroom battles. This is a lengthy adventure that shouldn't raise many objections for fans of either series.
