Now that MS have released the update to upload saves to a USB External HDD. How long do you think its going to take before for WE THE PEOPLE start making programs to edit saves.

usb is working but need a 3.00. all my usb not supporting

Microsoft's June update for Xbox One is out now, introducing new features like external storage support and Games With Gold, as well as the ability to use your real name on Xbox Live. To help get you up to speed with the update, Microsoft has published a walkthrough video explaining what's new to the Xbox One with the update and how the new features work in real time.

For Xbox One external storage support, your external drive will need to be USB 3.0 compatible and have 256GB or more free space available on it. When you plug it into the console, the Xbox One will recognize that you've attached an external hard drive, and you'll be asked if you want to format it (you need to). You can also give your device a custom name if you want.

Once you attach an external hard drive to your Xbox One, it will become the default storage device for all new content you download. You can even more your previously downloaded content to your external hard drive if you want, so that you can bring your content to a friend's house. Up to two drives can be attached to the Xbox One at once.

The full video touches on real name support for Xbox Live, new SmartGlass features, and a new auto sign-in feature for Xbox One. Microsoft is expected to talk more about the future of the Xbox One next week during E3 2014. Microsoft's press conference takes place Monday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m. PDT.

    Re: Modding game saves.

I read the FAQ for the June update, and it says that its not possible to transfer saves. :(

So unless there is another way in which we can peek into the Xbox HDD and find where saves are stored, looks like there is nothing yet.

    Re: Modding game saves.

has anybody been able to hack window 8 software? since X1 runs on a very similar system and operates some what like Windows 8 as far as looks apps and all of that. so if they able to crack window 8 apps and etc use a similar process to X1. of course i have no idea. but im suppose to be getting my 256gb 3.0 usb tom.

so does anything happen say you have all your games and stuff saved onto the external hdd unplug it from x1 and plug it into a pc. will the pc even recognize and open up the folder? also does the X1 run iso files? like what if you was to copy a iso of an X1 game onto the external hdd and then plug it back up in the X1 will it recognize it and play it? or is there a way to save a physical game disc to a external hdd and play it in X1 without the disc. like maybe use the disc to install the game onto X1 like you normally have to that way it has the file already stored on there then once it finishes installing plug it in the pc and copy the dvd to usb or copy disc to iso then save the iso to the save it to the usb. that way when u go to load it up instead of asking to insert the disc it'll read the iso as the disc an play.

all good questions that will have to be answered by ones wiser than me.

I imagine it will get cracked soon enough. sure the sooner the better....but then again this part of the forum is a ghost town which doesnt help.

    Re: Modding game saves.

Windows 8 'apps' if you dare call them such are nothing more then html5 and javascript.

The external drive can be modified to run on PC yes, the difference is essentially about 2 bytes in the header, this doesn't achieve much really.

The xbone would in all likelihood not run iso files, that would be counterproductive to the entire concept of the closed system, even if exploited thats the last thing you want to give people. A closed system makes use of propietary formats like crazy because it helps enforce the closed status, the 360 has GOD files which are exactly the same as the nxe installs you can pull off the disc (minus the disc need) and are essentially isos in a different format.

The main thing to take home here is signatures, the 360s security concerning purchased goods on retail systems is still largely active because the files all have signatures and the system enforces signature checks like a tyrant. To even consider the xbone would not have these checks plus more is simply wrong.

Literally the only perk the xbone has over the 360 is the x86 processor which won't come into much use until the homebrew era when porting things over is both practical and fun, damn is that going to be fun.
