New Need for Speed Coming in 2017

We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017.
The Need for Speed franchise is not returning to an annualized release schedule, at least not yet. The next game in the long-running racing series will be released in 2017, developer Ghost Games announced today. In a blog post titled "Taking Stock," the EA-owned studio said it has been "humbled" by the support and volume of feedback it's received since launching Need for Speed in 2015. With this in mind, a new game will come out next year.

But don't expect Ghost Games to keep quiet between now and then. "Far from it," Ghost Games said. "We'll be working with our community and there will be multiple opportunities to bring many of you into the studio in the coming months to get your feedback on where we're headed."

Ghost Games also shared an infographic that reveals some of the accomplishments players have made in Need for Speed since launch. Players have collected 9.8 billion Rep points, taken over 35 million Snapshots, and racked up $2.5 trillion worth of in-game cash. You can see more stats and other information here in the blog post.

The Need for Speed franchise was previously released on a yearly basis. When EA skipped a release in 2014, it marked the first time it had done so in more than a decade. Now, it's doing it again.
