I think if you edit when you are in human form and no bloodstains it might keep it from corrupting later on. I used Hex Workshop. I've purposely died like 3 times and exited out the game and reload and no corruption the only downside is that it changes the file size but it doesn't seem to affect the game.
Thanks guys.
I've watched the tutorial video, I've even followed along with it exactly to a T, the same steps and everything. I've used Modio and Hex Workshop...I even tried using HxD with the same steps and it gives me the same results...
A corrupted save file upon loading.
You can tell it's going to corrupt because the "loading save" box only shows up once if the save file is okay. If it isn't then it will flash on the screen twice then the game will promptly tell you that the save file is corrupted. If you attempt to repair the save it will only suggest that you delete the file and start a new one (sweet ass solution.../sarcasm)
So yeah, even though the tutorial seems okay, there must be something missing somewhere along the lines... I've literally followed it EXACTLY the way he does it. I don't understand why it's not working. I've attempted it 5 times with Hex Workshop and twice with HxD....no dice.
Someone needs to post a new video with better details because something is obviously missing here...maybe version numbers of the programs would help? I dunno....
Here's exactly what I did, just to clarify:
1. Grabbed the DRAKS0005 file off the HDD using Modio.
2. Opened the DRAKS0005 file with Modio.
3. Extracted the USER_DATA file (very top file) from the DRAKS0005 file.
4. Opened USER_DATA with Hex Workshop.
5. Edited the soul value (I used the book mark provided as well to make sure I didn't make a mistake)
6. SAVED THE FILE
7. Highlighted the entire save file (even the crap on the right) EXCEPT for the last 16 groups of digits (which was also bookmarked)
8. Did the checksum thing, clicked the check mark and chose MD5 (128 bit) - it defaults to selection btw.
9. Generated the new checksum.
10. Copy and pasted the new checksum over the bottom 16 groups of digits.
11. SAVED AGAIN.
12. Replaced the USER_DATA file with the newly edited USER_DATA file inside of the DRAKS0005 file.
13. Rehashed and Resigned with Modio.
14. Dragged the edited DRAKS0005 file back on the HDD.
15. Turned on the Xbox 360 and loaded the game up.
Upon loading it, I get a corrupted save file.
Okay, so can someone clarify where I screwed up here because if I did then the guy in the video did too.

So only having modded my save twice, i decided to take a break and go watch some netflix and then load it back up.. To find its corrupted :/
Not sure whats causing to corrupt everyones saves, but i hope the save editor can stop it D:
Using Hex Workshop with the bookmark. The only step I did different was I deleted/cut the last 16 digits because highlighting it took too long. Chose the entire document when generating the checksum and pasted the generated checksum in where the deleted was suppose to be. I had like a few corruptions when i first started out (without the bookmark) and I just retried using an unedited save. I probably also put in the wrong hex a few times in the beginning.
Edit: I was also in human form with no blood splatters and a few souls. And I edited after blighttown.
Random Question ... Anyone know how to get to the crystal cave in Anor?
