Xbox 360 hits 57.6 million units shipped, worldwide

Tucked inside Microsoft's latest earnings report for fiscal Q1 2012 comes an updated figure on the worldwide Xbox 360 numbers: 57.6 million shipped.

The most recent quarter, ended September 30, accounted for 2.3 million units shipped, a 2.8% decrease from the same period last year. Despite that dip in sales, the Xbox 360 has been the top selling console in the US for the last seven consecutive months, and platform revenue was up 7% thanks to increased Xbox Live revenue.

no one knows when the next one is coming out, but we know they are working on it ;)

you probably wont hear anything until we get closer to e3 next year. should start hearing rumors in march.

Did you guys see that movie Real Steel? It could just be a teaser but it shows, in the last fight in the banner, Xbox720 couple times.

All the Gamer magazine's I've been reading and a few "Microsoft Personnel" are trying to break the 5 year console cycle. Kinect and Move probably added another year or two to the systems lifespans, for some people. Personally, I think the 5 year cycle is great. Innovation for new consoles and improvements? Yes please! I love my 360 sure, but five year old technology is old. Especially considering it is a computer system, and computers tend to double their processing power... At least, according to my textbooks that are 5 years old themselves now. I'll try and hunt for some sources but it was nearly a year ago I read this, so I doubt it's still accurate. I am hoping for a new system though.
