how about turn based like old final fantasies or dragon quest. i was looking at eternal sonata but i dont know if there is a world map where you can just walk around and explore.

No there is not World Map, its a linear rpg =_= btw, getting back to ur topic:
Play Tales of Vesperia (its a good example of what u wanted: "Im looking for a long turn based rpg, not strategy or tactical, and where you have to actually walk from town to town not just selecting it on a map. i want alot of exploration. Im going for something that reminds you of the classic rpgs."), Nier (not so good,but it gives u what u want), Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2 (no comment,its an action-rpg), and thats pretty much it....

Yay tales of vesperia is a awesome game i started playing it again, another one u might consider jkipp82 is magna carta 2 its pretty good, and even though eternal sonata doesnt have a world map it is still a good game in my opinion

Tales of Vesperia is on the ps3 now i beat it on the 360 wow i might pick it up.

the one on the ps3 is has extra content in it that the 360 one doesnt have so ive heard but i havent played it yet
