I agree that if implemented correctly this could be a huge boon for those interested in exploits but not interested in learning how to code or mod themselves. The only thing I can see being an actual issue is that even if Game Genie doesn't release a code to bypass a flag, there is someone out there who will find that code. There are multiple communities dedicated to finding and writing codes for Game Genie, and they would see this as just as challenging as some of the people here see writing a Save Editor for Skyrim, and would devote an equal amount of time to it.
I would love for things to be like they were back in the old days, when a misplaced digit in the code created an amazing effect, but sadly, I don't think it can be done with the way that the industry is headed. Too much emphasis on Multiplayer and Patching to really be effective in my opinion.
Oh wow, that's awesome. I hope this does get released, but I agree it shouldn't be used online :/
Yes, it's true that attempts will be made to create a bypass code. However, a cheat device can be made to not allow such codes to be used (Action Replay was real picky about only letting you use coding that it recognized). If the Game Genie team puts forth the effort to disallow such codes from being used on their device, then the only other alternative would be to patch the Game Genie itself to allow them. There are two problems with this: (1) developers can patch their console/game to disallow modified versions of a legit app (ie Game Genie), and (2) if a person is able to run modified versions of a legit app then that means they are using a jailbreak console anyways and they wouldn't need Game Genie in the first place.
One method that Game Genie could employ is a counter-flag code. Let's say a code is created by users that allows you to bypass my theoretical online flag. Well Game Genie would already be pre-programmed with an invisible code that makes sure the flag is always enabled; this counter-flag code could also be designed to null any codes that the player attempts to bypass the online flag with. It wouldn't be too hard to make program exceptions for every game that's supported by the Game Genie, especially if game developers and the Game Genie team work together to set it up. If both sides work together, there could be any number of security measures set in place to make sure nobody cheats online.
Of course, this kind of thing will never happen. Developers hate modders for always wanting to break the limits they set in place, and there will always be modders that want to take it a step further then what's allowed by the developers.

The Game Genie brings back so many memories. For some reason I never liked using it because it slowed my game down. I think I only used it when I could get things like items and money but other than that I never really relied on it. I would like to see how the Game Genie will make a comeback though. Even though I never really relied on the thing, I am interested to see how it's going to come back.
