Hey, I was just wondering if i was the only one out here lost without Demonoid? I am familiar with all the other sites, but Demonoid was my home. I hope they come back someday.
Just posting what is on my mind today...

Same thing that happened to Megaupload: they got shut down by the feds. Which is why I weary of...
I mean, it sounds great at first glance. But I'm a very paranoid person. What if the police are just using the Demonoid name to lure potential pirates out of the woodwork? I know the Demonoid admin said he'd be back with a new site, but I just don't trust it. Not yet, anyway. Time will tell if these guys are legit or not.
That's what I hate about public torrents: there's no way to tell if it's legit or just a trap, so you're always taking a chance. Even if the files are completely legal, just using torrents from known pirate trackers can easily result in trouble.

Torrents IMO are overrated. I only use them if I absolutely cannot find anything from Usenet. Usenet has been around forever and it's sort of the underground pirating community :P Anything leaked on the internet usually gets on Usenet first. All the groups you see like IMMERSE, MARVEL, JUSTICE, etc. They post it to Usenet via Newsgroups. I pay $10 a month for unlimited downloads via Usenet and get access to SSL servers. It's a shame not too many people know the major benefits when it comes to Usenet vs Torrenting.
Would this site ever get shut down by feds
Not all P2P file sharing is piracy. I use torrents to legitimately move legal files between myself and friends when the resources to send huge or bulk files isn't available for direct transfer through Skype or other such means. Any downloading I do through a torrent is of the legal variety (ie not theft).
While usenet is much better for pirates, there is a handful of people who use torrents and are not stealing anything, and to those people there is no benefit to a service that you have to pay $10 a month for just to legally share files amongst themselves.
Granted, I can see where you're coming from, since Demonoid -IS- chiefly a site that got its reputation for being a readily available source of pirated files, and that -IS- what we're talking about here (which may be borderline against the rules seeing as we're talking about piracy). But what I was talking about was using known pirate trackers to legally transfer legitimate files, and not actual piracy.
No. If I'm correct, 360 Haven is hosted by an American hosting service. If that's the case, then the only things the US feds would be looking for is either piracy or child porn, neither of which 360 Haven provides or even condones (both pirated files and pornography of any kind are explicitly against the rules, and uploading either is a bannable offense).
That said, that's the US government. With a few exceptions (namely Australia and to lesser extents UK and Germany) most countries have either more lenient or lighter enforced copyright law than US (or at least workable loopholes). So if I am wrong about our server being stateside, then there's also that. Of course, that still wouldn't change the site rules about theft and pornography.
