Looking to cash in on the success of The Fast and the Furious franchise, Electronic Arts has teamed up with writer-producer John Gatins (Real Steel) to develop a movie based on their Need for Speed game titles.
Variety reports that Paramount is the current frontrunner for picking up the EA package, but other studios including Warner Bros. and Sony are also rumored to have an interest. The only studio not hip to the jive is Universal, but that's not much of a surprise considering they already have the aforementioned Fast and Furious movies.
EA released Need for Speed: The Run as their 18th game in the series last November. No word yet as to whether or not this will serve as a template for the film.
