One of the main issues with any shooter is the weapon balancing and just like all the other shooters, Modern Warfare 3 had to deal with its own balancing issues.
On July 20th, Mark Rubin (Executive Producer at Infinity Ward) showed us a list with the changes that would be coming to Modern Warfare 3 and one of those changes were buffs to weapons which weren’t up to snuff.
Weapon Balance – We have started our pass on weapons here at the studio and are testing out some changes. We are just hitting ARs and SMGs at first. Our current philosophy on this right now is not to nerf but rather to buff those weapons that are under-performing. Not sure yet on the eta of when these changes will go live.
The weapon buff Mark Rubin mentioned in that list finally took place and it resulted in 6 under-performing weapons being buffed. These weapons being:
FAD (Assault Rifle)
M16A4 (Assault Rifle)
AK47 (Assault Rifle)
UMP45 (SMG)
MP5 (SMG)
PM9 (SMG)
It’s not clear which aspect(s) of the gun were buffed, but knowing the huge Call of Duty community on YouTube, it shouldn’t be long before we know which buffs the weapons received.
Now that these weapons are buffed, will you be using more often?
Update: Got a lot of people asking when this update will happen. Well, the balancing is already live. Here is a tweet from Candice Capen (Community Coordinator for Infinity Ward) giving an answer to the question “ When did it exactly go live? I haven’t received any playlist update.”
