The much-needed patch for BioWare's Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 has finally landed. In case you haven't downloaded it yet for the game, Update v1.01 should take care of the crashes and loading times.
Already, people are raving about the very noticeable improvement in load times. If you've also been bugged by that corrupted save issue, then this one here should provide for you your much-wanted relief. Here are the patch notes for v1.01 from BioWare:
Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
Fixed the picture frame in Shepard's Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard's Cabin
These all sound like it's going to be make the game all the more enjoyable. Now that these kinks are out of the way, we can move on and look forward to getting the upcoming DLC promised by the developers. Just a couple of days ago, there appeared to be some kind of slip in the PS3 patch, which included, among other things, the "Arrival".
We're not quite sure what it really entails, but speculations are high that it will be the final content for the sequel, serving as the jumpoff point for Mass Effect 3. Also accidentally disclosed by BioWare were the trophies set to come out later, including The Ultimate Sacrifice, Last Stand, and Covert Action.
They have since admitted their boo-boo, and has now tagged this experience under the "Lessons Learned the Hard Way" file in their cabinet. All sounds exciting, but before that, let's just enjoy this patch we've got right here. Mass Effect 2 launched for the PC, Xbox 360 and PC last month.
