Beta will only appear on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, will require Gold subscription
Are you planning to pick up a copy of Wolfenstein: the New Order next month? Though that game is shaping up well, it's a fair bet that many of you may have had your interest further raised by the prospect of getting into the Doom 4 beta? Well you might want to listen up, as a few more details have come to light.
An update to the Doom 4 beta FAQ released this week (and spotted by our chums at CVG) reveals that the beta itself will only be released on the newer consoles and PC. So, if you pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order on Xbox 360, you'll be granted access into the Xbox One version of the beta. There's still no further word on exactly whether or not the beta will be multiplayer focused, but Bethesda do confirm you will need an active Xbox Gold subscription. Bethesda also say that they're currently working with Microsoft to ensure that those who prefer to make sure those who prefer a disc-less, digital pre-order of the game will also get access, but warns "Other digital retailers' processes and/or participation may vary. We suggest contacting your preferred retailer directly for additional information."
Nothing's yet changed on a timeframe for the beta since the original announcement, so we don't know yet when the beta itself will happen outside of "a later, yet-to-be announced date." Wolfenstein: The New Order meanwhile now has a simultaneous release date of the 20th May for Europe, the US and Australia. What are you guys hoping to see in the Doom 4 beta?
