A new writer has been brought onboard the Just Cause movie adaptation. The Hollywood Reporter reveals Bryan Edward Hill is going to write a new draft of the film, based on the video game franchise.
With a background in comic books (he co-wrote a Witchblade miniseries for Top Cow and co-created Image's 7 Days From Hell), Hill will re-write the script first written by Michael Ross (Turistas).
The film will serve as an origin story for Rico Rodriguez, the main character from the Just Cause games. The Reporter story calls the film Just Cause: Scorpion Rising, though in the games, Rico's codename is Scorpio, so either it's been changed for the film or the Reporter has the title slightly off. The project is being produced by Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner, who are developing it independently, before taking it to studios and financiers.
