A 48 year old man, James Lacella, was found dead in his Las Vegas condo with a bullet in his head, body decomposing for days, but no one found it until a fire was started at the house.

Presumably in an attempt to burn evidence, the fire drew attention to the condo and police found the burnt body with a .25 calibre bullet in his head. But not all the evidence was burnt; his PlayStation 3 was pawned off at a local pawn shop and the police managed to trace the sale to 42 year old Patrick Wilcock, who happens to be James’ ‘best friend’. He was also found possessing a .25 handgun, which he insists was for putting a dog out of its misery.
Now, while I’m still baffled as to how exactly the PS3 was traced to the pawnshop, the serial number was apparently the link.
I’m keeping serial numbered goods with me everywhere I go now.
