There are checksums on the gamesave, one for the header and one for each data-slot - which is why it won't load after editing (the game loads but when you click to load a save it doesn't do anything but "click"). I know where they are and how to fix them...

I have never played ABE2 or 3 so I don't know... but since the games are almost the same then I'd probably think they all have the same security and structures...
The reason(s) you see more than one section of save-data in the gamesave is:
-the game saves to two sections (save-data) - the one in use and a "backup".
-if you use more than one save-slot in-game then you will have multiple sections in each save-data.
(1 gamesave = 2 save-data, 1 save-data = 3 save-slots)
There is a checksum on the header of the save-data and each save-slot (4 total per save-data). I have succesfully discovered how to fix all checksums... I am working on the structure of the save-slots and how to parse it all. I will be releasing something soon...
