I took this from gamefaqs and seemed like a good question to ask here.

yes... this is really a good question...
if you had asked me a few years... maybe a decade ago...
then i would have said yes... absolutely... ^-^
but now... i'd say some are... many aren't
as now most of the companies go for graphics... and only for graphics...
you don't see many games anymore with really great story development or good an intuitive gameplay
luckily there are still those few games then keep popping up from time to time ^-^

Not serious art IMO, I think it just has to do with the limitation of being mostly interactive.

I believe it to be art yeah, due to the amount of development that goes into them, sketches, modelling, programming etc. So yes definitely art.

In truth, most of the bad "art" games are on the 360: the myriad of grey-brown first person shooters which use the same story archetypes for almost every game. Innovative games are the ones I consider "good" art.
