How exactly do we use this editor? I know we have to extract files out of the save itself and then open those extracted files in the editor, but... WHICH one of those files for Brutal Legend do we extract?
There's stuff like auto.sav, extended, prefs, P_10 and stuff like that. Which one of those are we supposed to extract and edit?
I really just want to max out my Fire Tributes/Money. Any help and information is appreciated.

If I didn't say which one then it may have been either... I don't know, I haven't played the game since I made that...

I see. I tried editing the auto one since that is the only one that showed my current fire tributes so far and that didn't end up well. It corrupted the save. Probably because I'm not editing the right one.
Although I did properly extract the file out of the save and then inject it back into the save before editing and whatnot. Basically I just don't know which one to edit and want to edit the proper one.
If you find out the right file, then let me know as soon as you can. Putting the game on hold until I can max out my fire tributes. Thanks in advance.

Not to bump the thread (Although it kind of does need one) or Double-Post, but...
I still haven't figured out which file I'm supposed to extract from the save and edit.
Is the correct one auto.sav? I hear that in general you cannot edit autosaves and this will generally corrupt the file. Any truth to that or is this the correct one to edit in order to max out my fire tributes?

I usually include README's or other "About" info in my apps. Have you tried reading any of them? Or else why not just try using ANY of them, trying the wrong one (if there is a wrong one) is not going to destroy the planet or anything... And no that's not true at all about the autosav... you can edit autosav most of the time.

Because it's too much of a hassle and a very bothersome process to play the guessing game. I'm just trying to nail down the sole one. I have been trying different things with no success. (Still trying too. Haven't given up yet.)
This is how helpful your README is:
Brutal Legend - Mod Tool
Version: 1.0.0.0.
Created by JizzaBeez
How to Use:
1) Click 'File' then 'Extracted...' to open your extracted file.
2) Make changes then click 'File' then 'Save' to save your file.
Pretty vague. Just trying to get more specific and detailed instructions here. What's wrong with that?
Also, the about section is nearly the same as the README, excepts it tells you what kind of files you can edit in it, but it doesn't give any detailed or more specific instructions for if, say, you just want to max out your Fire Tributes for instance.
I'm more of a fan of your more simple editors like the Castlevania one. Now that one was very user-friendly and super-easy to use. Just wish it were that easy.

Ok I had a look at the editor (it's been so long)... You can open ANY of the extracted files and it displays each line. Edit the lines of text replacing values but don't remove special characters (<, >, =, etc.).
I thought I made a newer editor for this, I'll have to search through all my mess and see. If not then I'll try to redo this one and make it more "User friendly". to be continued...

Sorry, I didn't mean it as an insult or anything when I said more user friendly. I was just having trouble figuring out which was the right one for editing fire tribute. I actually appreciate the fact that you made an editor for a game that no one else would even so as much bat an eye at because it isn't popular. Sure, the RTS battles suck... But the rest of the game is a real beauty! Quite a gem.
What I was doing was like you said, editing each of them one at a time until I figure it out. The only ones with "CashInOpenWorld", "CashPrimary", CashInSecondary" and "CashInMotorForge" (I'm going by memory here) are auto.sav, but apparently editing this makes the save non-existent as I cannot load anything and it says I have no chapters completed, and alsoP1_010 as well as P1-020. Everything else is just unlockables, preferences and stuff like that.
Maybe my problem was the I'm supposed to edit all the ones with Cash in the name as well as Edit all three con files containing them? (Auto.sav and the P1'a.) Like all at once basically.

'Usually' if you edit an "auto-save" file then you don't have to edit the save-point files... Auto-save refers to "Continue". If you edit the auto-save file and then load the game and "Continue" then that's all you need to do. If you edit a save-point/chapter-save then you must load that save in order for it to take effect. You don't have to edit "both" or "all", just whichever you plan on loading in-game.

killergp made an editor. His maxes fire tributes, adds all journal entries and reveals entire map. I take it you never saw it?

Wasn't editing anything in chapters. Just the Cash stuff itself in the autosave. After doing that, I couldn't continue for some reason despite following all steps properly. It keeps saying I have no chapters completed, though. As if I had never even played or started the game, which I have. Of course I always re-inject the edited con file after editing it and also rehash and resign the save before putting it back in the HDD. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Probably something stupid... (Yes I did extract the con file from the save by the way.)
Just stupid mistakes on my part, I suppose. Like I said, I'm just used to the easy/simple editors rather than these. I do like the fact that this one, though more complicated, at least gives you more control and options over what you want to edit. But still, I'd settle for a simple one to go alongside the advanced one. The catch being less stuff to edit, but that's fine by me if it means easier to use and saves JizzaBeez trouble, hassle and time.

I have seen it and had it downloaded, but it won't work at all because of the stupid updater on it/attached to it and because apparently his site, from which the updates and editor comes, is shut down completely. It never gets past the auto-updater.
That and it gives me nothing but problems in Windows 7 by not working because of a constant error. It keeps saying something about being outside the bounds of array or some crap like that. What the Hell does that even mean? (Computer literate, but not computer technical. Total n00b here when it comes to errors!) Hence again not being able to get past the damn updater on it.
I sure wish I could get it to work, though!
But I think I'll just wait for JizzaBeez to release the newer version he was thinking about making. (I hope he does! Would be nice to max out Fire Tributes and unfog the map.)
Also: Nice signature DGenerateKane! Duke Nuken is THE MAN!

Yeah killer's site shut down, so his old app wouldn't work since it requires the "update check" in order to start...
And just an update to mine: I put a little time in it last night, it shouldn't take too long to finish once I get a chance... I've just been real busy working with something else recently (actual work and pay lol)...
