if I make a new game will I be fine. also I took a look so I'm guessing you can edit exp, job exp and job points or can I edit everything but stamina need a little clarification so far ONLY exp,job exp,job points,their equips,and their knowledge(learning) thats all for now...idle is working on a list of buffs and resistances that values can be changed however idk if you can modify these values on your pawn without corrupt yet...yes starting over would fix this but if you made backups of your save before editing your pawn this would work too ALWAYS BACK UP lol i have around 10

Is it possible to mod how well known your Pawn is with Quests / Enemies / Locations? If it is how do i mod it?
Also what can i mod on a pawn without making it corrupt?

no change the 10 <u32 values bellow <array name="mJobExp" type="u32" count="10"> these are the experience you have for each job i used 9999999 for all 10

Has anyone experienced any game freezing after modding there save? If not then It could just be my xbox. I ask because my main has all stats in 9000+. HP was around 9000 also and stamina about 50000. after leveling up about 11 levels, most of my stats went past the 9000 and into 10000. I went to an encampment to sleep and the game began to autosave. that's when it froze, during autosave. It never froze before my stats were under 10000.

no unfortunately but I did edit the stats i.e hp and stuff but I did find out on the TUT is a little wrong for the job level the first u8 line is incorrect basically the one he has as unknown is actually sorcerer fund out when I edited my pawn

basically we know what makes them become corrupt but why? what makes them different than our main character if its server sided what info is it looking for to tell if its "corrupt" or not also idk if anyone has tried this or not but what if you mod your pawns experience so it levels to 200 save game etc then mod its level to lets say 10 manually change its <u32 name="mExp" value and <u32 name="mNextExp" value then in game let it level to 11 normally will its 200 stats say but increase and would it still be corrupt?

OK, i searched the topic and I couldn't see it so i'm hoping nobody shoots me. Simple question - is there a way, or if there is, how do we remove the class restrictions on armor? I'm currently playing as an Assassin and changed my currently equiped armor to a bunch of different ones (eg Dragon Knight chest plate, steal boots, etc.) - when I loaded my game, I wasn't wearing them anymore and they were sitting in my inventory with the dreaded red ghostbuster symbol (sans ghost) which basicially says i'm not able to wear the armor in my current class. Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I kinda figured, but I thought i'd ask. Anyway - does anyone know what the Assassin armor set is called? I'll probably just change my equipment to that! Thanks so much.

I used this editor and saved it, used modio to rehash and reasign but when I load up DD on my xbxo nothing has changed? Anyone else having that issue or am I just doing something wrong.

Each time I try to change anything on my Pawn, even after rehashing/resigning, the save just freezes my Xbox because it's corrupted. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Try with Horizon. It works perfectly.

i tested the status editing and added stamina boosted and double exp. i tried putting in "-1" to make it INF but it just made the status disappear so i changed it to "99999.000000" and it worked out great however i dont know how long that will last since i have yet to test its limits...

You don't want to mod your Pawn's HP, Str or Magick... If you do your Pawn will show as Corrupt and people won't be able to rent it.

This happens to me once in a while. I know this is basic, but
1. make sure you save your changes in the editor
2. Since your using Modio (so do I), after you "Replace file" and rehash/resign (I do 2x), click Save to Device. I sometimes forget to do that last step which results in no changes to the file on the memory device.

Awesome, just when I get it working, it can't be seen by others. Is there any way to un-corrupt it? I just replaced my backup too so I can't revert to another save.
You just have to put the HP and other stats back to the Legit amount...

if you have a back up save before you modded your pawn this would work also...edit...just read where you cant do this lol sorry anyway the values differ so unless you wrote it down i dont think there is much you can do unless idle has some numbers that could work

He already said he deleted/replaced his backup... yeah just edited my post about that lol but why???? back ups are more valuable than gold in these situations 0.0 oh well hmmm Ixnas maybe you could check out the rift and search for a pawn thats almost equal to your pawn in every way (class,level,etc.) then copy their stats...may work

I replace my backup with a new backup. It's not hard to understand. o.O
I just looked at some legit character's stats and I'm going to make mine higher, but still within the range it appears to be in. Like HP is around 5,000 and ST
strength and magick are around 1000 looks like. not guaranteed to work but this would be my best guess

It fixed it right up. Some d00sh decided to give my pawn a bad rating. Seriously, it's invincible.
What's your GT, I'll check your Pawn to see if it's Corrupt or not.

I've been lurking for a while and wanna say awesome work for all of this so far, especially Idle.... But onto the post...
I've been looking into the enchantments for a while because that seems to be the thing everyone is stuck on, aside from being able to mod pawns. I was able to get my enchantments to last for basically ever, but I wasn't able to make an enchantment. I think this is because some information of the enchantment has to do with the spell itself and the caster. I noticed that the enchantment I had elongated disappeared after I released the pawn that cast it, and it was a simple fire enchantment. When I tried to add it, no good. There's also the fact that it's supposed to increase in intensity from one spell to another, which would lend to the idea that it's attached to the caster in some sense. Now, where in the data this is saved, I have no clue, but it's a hypothesis I aim to follow through... Any help would be welcome!
P.S. - The numbers you have here seem to be right. 32 seems to be the Dark/Abyssal Anguish skill for the MK, but I can't seem to get it to last longer...

i figured it out...i looked at the other items in there and noticed a pattern tried it and it worked...
this is wat i ended up with:

Perhaps someone else can study this more in depth? I was messing around with augments to see if I can add more, took this line <array name="mAbility" type="s8" count="6"> and changed the six to an eight then copy pasted two more sets of the current augments be for the /array changed them to two different augments and now had 8 augments like the change in the number I made, however when in game I didn't see more then the six I originally had.
Or maybe it's just cause they allow six on screen? Could be the ones I used are hard to tell as well, anyone wanna try to alter this more so we can use more than so, I augments.

Thanks for making this editor, it's just the thing I was looking for.
I haven't really tried it much yet, but it should be useful later when I just want to mess around with the game.
Now I just need to sift through these posts to see how to edit certain things.
Is it safe to use on pawns, since they get uploaded to the server?

Edit: As you know, I converted Idlehands88's item pictures into a .xls file with decimal numbers. This is the third iteration. All the leg armor pieces are working now and some of those coveted items are correctly identified. I also threw in some new consumables which you might find useful.

How exactly do I use this? I copied my save file from my 360 to my computer, but when I tried to open up the file (there aren't any file names, it's just data0000, etc.) I went by the file size to find the DD save, which is about 600 KB and when I tried to open it it didn't work, how to I make it work?

How to use:
1) Extract ~ "DD_Savedata" from "DD_SAVEDATA_00".
2) Open ~ "DD_Savedata" in this program.
3) Edit ~ the text then Save the file.
4) Replace ~ "DD_Savedata" in "DD_SAVEDATA_00".
5) Rehash & Resign ~ "DD_SAVEDATA_00".

oh then its the 2nd pawn(this is actually your main pawn), i forgot the game gave you a rented pawn at the beginning lol, but yeah its the 2nd pawn since you get to customize it and it sticks with you at all times

Thanks for posting that link cloud, it would been a pain from my phone lol.
To un-corrupt your pawn you would need to return all his/her stats to what they used to be, best advice was giving in a previous post.. I'm sorry but I forgot who said it, but anyway try to search for a pawn dame class/level/equipment and change those stats to what that pawn has. It's a long shot but it's your best shot of you don't remember.

After having a more in depth explanation of how the tool works, I was able to mod things the way I wanted. Just a question, any way to mod the cast timer for spells? Bloody annoying if you ask me. I now can enjoy running all over the place without fatigue! I'm also happy to announce that free falling from cliffs is now in session!

You have to buy 200-300 of something that you dont use a lot. than search for the number of items (i.e. 243 hurbs) than change the nNum value to nagative also the mDay1 value to the same negative number. This will let you have that much extra space to carry stuff. Not taking credit someone already did it somewhere earlier in this post. njoy

Here's a quick guide, sent to me by a forum member. It should help those who are struggling.
How to use the Dragon's Dogma tool.
I'll try to help you out. First off, all the values are normal decimals, what you see in the editor is what you get in the game.
I'll just show you how to mod health, stamina, gold, exp, attack and defense since Idle already has a tutorial for the other stuff. Don't mod your pawns stats or they will spoil and not work for other players. Your character values are the first instances in the file.
Look for this paragraph in the editor. Scroll down until you see them.
Health, Stamina, Attack and Defend, and Experience:

I followed this guide and now my character is level 120, I got 90k Health and 90k Stamina. My MATK and regular attack are normal, just takes a lot to kill me now. Haha! If you want to use my pawn and don't feel like modding, give me your GT. My Pawn's name is Melody, she's a level 90 Mage. :D Cheers!
Also this guide pretty much says, "Cut and paste stuff, here, here and here." That's how I followed it. ;D

try searching for mJobPoint edit all 10 values under this to the same amount, i put em all to 999999 and i got enough for all skills.

Step One
Download Horizon OR Modio 4 (Beta) whichever you prefer.
Step Two (Using Horizon)(This is how I do it.)
While in Horizon a prompt will come up showing you your USB device. Open it and go to Games > Dragon's Dogma > (Save file will be here)
Step Three
When you have it open in Horizon you can take the save and drag it outside the Horizon Window onto the desktop.
Going back to Horizon Mod Tool, look at your save and go to Content. There you should see a file named DD_Savedata DO NOT Mistake it for DD_SAVEDATA_00 For they are two different files. When you see this file, right click and choose to extract it to your desktop or to a folder you'll keep it in (we'll be returning to that folder later). Also if you're using a USB then you won't need to drag DD_SAVEDATA_00 out, but only DD_Savedata.
Step Four
Download the Mod Tool which can be found on page one of this very thread.
When you've done that open up the Mod Tool and look for DD_Savedata. Also if your tool looks like it's frozen, it's not. It takes awhile for it to read the file so give it 10 seconds or so. Then what your going to need to do is a bit of string editing. I posted a small tutorial given to me.
Step Five (After you read the tutorial on how to use the tool & what to edit)
Remember DD_Savedata that file should be on your desktop or in a folder, we're going to go back into Horizon. Now your save of your original game SHOULD still be open. What your going to do now is go to your save and click on Content(s) and DD_Savedata should be there. Your then going to right click on it and hit replace and search for the DD_Savedata you kept and edited on your desktop. Find it and click okay, it should successfully replace it and then when that's done hit Rehash and Resign and Horizon will save it directly to the device. After that you should be good to go! Load it up and test out your mods!
Some notes: Always create a back up. Don't mod anything over 1 mil or it will corrupt your data (Which I know how to fix) So have fun modding dude!

I'm not sure if this was posted earlier in the thread, but I'll post it here... if anyone is interested in changing the quality of your equipment (1 star, 2 star, etc) it's pretty easy to do. You first need to open your save and go to the section specifying your currently equipped items (if you do a search, its the section with the first entry of <class type="sItemManager::cITEM_PARAM_DATA">). Go down to the entry marked <u32 name="data.mFlag" value= (3 down from where you started). This is the flag that controls the quality. The codes are as follows: 1 star - 11, 2 star - 19, 3 star - 35, dragonforged (best) - 67. Just change the code to the quality level you want then continue down the line. One thing to note is you need to be careful that you don't change the quality for equipped items that do not have a quality level (like jewelry). This is usually the last item on the list (not including the -1's in the mItemNo value). Any questions, let me know.

The enchantment disappears whenever I rest at the inn so I think it's not that much useful unless I don't rest at all. Not sure if this only happens to me but that's what I got when I experimented with modding enchantments.

there is a way but it caused issues, like not being able to step on pressure plates and Idlehands also said that if you beat the game it will freeze as well, so i think its not worth it lol

So, uh... I know I've been trying to get research done on the enchantments, but I have a question: has anyone attempted changing their class to that tenth unknown class? I mean, it's possible to just up and change your class, so...
I might do it, but sleep beckons.... Quite mightily, might I add.
EDIT: Rather, might it be a non-class built for the dragon battle at the beginning of the game? If so, it might have access to everything... I came across this in Dragon Quest IX, where the Celestrian "class" had access to EVERY ability... HMM...

I just found something that I didn't see posted here...if you dragonforge a curitive item (example Bottled Haste) it will never go away unless sold or stored. You can use a single item as much as you want and it won't leave your inventory. It happened on accident with Bottled Haste, and every time I used it it went from x1 to x0, then back to x1.

Ceally, look at Xeno's post for when I asked that same question for information. Horizon is a good program to use for extracting and repacking the save.

I just found something that I didn't see posted here...if you dragonforge a curitive item (example Bottled Haste) it will never go away unless sold or stored. You can use a single item as much as you want and it won't leave your inventory. It happened on accident with Bottled Haste, and every time I used it it went from x1 to x0, then back to x1.
Was that dragonforged equipped (67) or unequipped (65)? I no longer have a problem with weight because of the trick with the negative numbers, but using your tip would be very practical!

Not going to read 60 some pages, so I just ask one simple question.. Will modding your pawn's discipline points ONLY make him corrupt? Or is it stat modding that does that? Only thing I want to mod on him is his discipline points but not if it will corrupt him..

It was unquipped since it could be sold. so 65. I didn't really check it in the editor though, but it was dragonforged, and it let me use the item and it didn't say unequip when I looked, so I do believe it was 65. I still don't know how it happened when I wasn't activily putting random 65s. I was in the process of changing all storage weapons and armor into dragon forged by looking for the unequipped numbers. I did a search and replace of all items with type 9, which seems to be the 1 star uneqipped number, and changed that to 65 for dragonforged.
Edit:
Jehryn, stat modding corrupts, but if you just add Disipline points it should be fine, just as a precaution though, write down all of your pawns stats before doing any modding of the pawn.

Go to a character's inventory or the storage. Add 1 to the total amount of items in either case. Then, in a blank space, put the amount of rings you want, then 229 for the ring's ID, 1 for quality and the same amount of rings in the day 1 space. Finally, modify the owner of the item, if necessary.

I don't know what the he'll I did but my game keeps freezing right be for actually loading the save to in game, it's rather annoying I've gone back a few times now and changed other things or didn't change certain things but it keeps happening.
I've already modded a lot of the game lol so don't know what's wrong. Installing it now to see if that solves it.
*edit* nope still freezing, all I did different was mod my vocations down to what idle said is the max. I never touched my vocations but somehow soon as I hit gran toran they were a maxed and in the editor it showed 8 instead of 10 and 16 instead of the max which should be 9.

thanks for the info. Just wondering Is the storage parameter differ from the character inventory parameter or is it the quality and day value that makes the difference.

There happen to be two good programs out there, Modio and Horizon. I use Horizon, which can be found at: http://www.xboxmb.com. It seems to be the better of the two, because there are several posts on this thread stating that Modio causes problems and winds up giving about the same error that you're getting. Not to mention, it's fairly simple to use. If you need some help with it, feel free to PM me, and I'll help you out.

Probably your post count. Try to get it up to 6 or 7 and try again. Other than that no idea lol!

Post count is usually to make sure we're not being flooded by spam bots or getting attacked by leechers. I also think there are certain sections in the forum where your post do count. So get those post counts up and you can DL the editor. I love this forum and I always give good reviews on the tools I use. Ask Jappi. :D

no its cause he is inactive, once he becomes active again then he will be able to download :), also Seph changed it to 30 posts to be able to become a member instead of a junior member, when your a member you can have unlimited downloads

Not sure if this helps or not but I had a game freezing issue during an auto save awhile back. I had to hit the power button to shut down the 360 which corrupted the save somewhat because every time I hit load game, it would end up in an endless load loop. I manage to get it to work by loading the game and selecting no to connect to online. I resaved the game to be safe then restarted the game with online connection. I also remodded my save so my main guy's health stayed under 10000. The last part was extra precaution for myself since I wasn't sure having too high HP may cause freezing.

This can be done fairly easily with the calculator in accessories, Start it up click on view then choose Programmer or press Alt+3. Select the Hex dot, type in the item code, then click the Dec dot it will change it to Decimal for you.

Okay, thanks Demon. Now that that's figured out...I tried adding items to my storage, but when trying to load the game it froze, I reverted and it loaded again, but if I add anything it freezes on me. Whats the proper way of adding in NEW items, not swapping

1) Extract ~ "DD_Savedata" from "DD_SAVEDATA_00".
2) Open ~ "DD_Savedata" in this program.
3) Edit ~ the text then Save the file.
4) Replace ~ "DD_Savedata" in "DD_SAVEDATA_00".
5) Rehash & Resign ~ "DD_SAVEDATA_00".
So how do I go about doing stems 1,4, and 5?
Can someone explain to me if the hex to decimal has to apply (or required0 for Stats, Level, and Rift Crystals and Gold?

Still can't figure out the whole adding item thing...anyone have a guide on how to do it properly? I looked at the tutorial by Idle, but that doesn't say how to mod it...
Also, I can't open the XLS file with all the Decimal codes...I don't have Microsoft Excel as I can't afford to buy the program (nearly 150 bucks for a student edition, money I just don't have right now) It's as simple as saving it as a text file, nothing else.

Howdy, I didn't see anyone mention this in the thread so I figured I'd drop this tidbit. I seem to have found a way to cheese my carryweight (quite by accident actually). I was trying to edit the number of ferrystones I had and screwed up which values I modded, ending up with x-349982 of ferrystones. Which sucked, because the game didn't recognize them and I couldn't use them, however this also set my weight to very light (with none of the bar filled at all). So I went back and fixed my item changing as well as mucked with an item I had no use for to see if I could replicate the carry weight effect. I used wolf pelts because I haven't needed them for quite some time... and lo and behold I have very light weight and x-393727 wolf pelts. I can't use them or sell them, but who cares? I can pick up everything I see and my weight doesn't change!
This is what I changed, I figure it would work with any trash item as long as you knew the ID for it.

I can understand where they're coming from. I've used several save editors, but in purely single player games. In a purely single-player game, go ahead, save edit, exploit, cheat, do whatever.
But with multi-player aspects, Ur-Dragon, when other people are being affected? People aren't going to like that shit and you shouldn't be surprised, it's not exactly proper etiquette and really ruins it for people, and that's not cool either.
That said, I'm going to use the editor and see what it's capable of, but I'm not going to use it to destroy the Ur-Dragon with other people involved.
On a side note:
Nice editor, very cool. Is it possible to edit skills, change what skills a vocation can use?
Though...probably not. I thought it might work, giving Easy Kill to a Strider or Moving Castle to a Knight, for example.

That gets me thinking... Should we modify computer-generated pawns to our liking? How about hiring one of those offline level 200 pawns and giving them thousands of points on each stat, then changing their behavior?

Uhh... Either I'm a straight boss, or this is wrong. It SEEMS like the game freezes, to be sure, but it just takes FOREVER to reload. I finished the game and had no freezing, and when I picked NG+, I thought it froze, but decided to let it sit while I watched some youtube videos (Philly D and the SourceFed crew, fyi!). I looked up and BLAM!, it had loaded. I suppose it just takes a hella long time to convert the negative items safely into x999 and deposit it into your storage. Cuz that's what happened to me!

Yes, it takes longer, but not THAT long. This can be avoided by simply ditching the item with negative numbers before completing the game.
And there are two spots in the game where you need to step on panels to open some doors. Just have your pawn step on them. It won't work if you do, because you're weightless!

So, I was doing a little item editing when I got curious... I added the Champion/Warden/Archmage Writs to my inventory... And nothing. What do they do? Does anyone even know?! Cuz I used the intarwebs, and maybe I suck at them, but I've found no results. In game, it says "grants skill", or something to that effect. Does that mean I can't use them since I've got my skills all leaned? If so... KEWL. I just wanna know what the hell they do.
I.... I didn't know where else to turn!!! *sniff*...

I just sold It and it worked
Howdy, I didn't see anyone mention this in the thread so I figured I'd drop this tidbit. I seem to have found a way to cheese my carryweight (quite by accident actually). I was trying to edit the number of ferrystones I had and screwed up which values I modded, ending up with x-349982 of ferrystones. Which sucked, because the game didn't recognize them and I couldn't use them, however this also set my weight to very light (with none of the bar filled at all). So I went back and fixed my item changing as well as mucked with an item I had no use for to see if I could replicate the carry weight effect. I used wolf pelts because I haven't needed them for quite some time... and lo and behold I have very light weight and x-393727 wolf pelts. I can't use them or sell them, but who cares? I can pick up everything I see and my weight doesn't change!
This is what I changed, I figure it would work with any trash item as long as you knew the ID for it.

For those of you having trouble using this, heres some help
Go to full mode on the window (the square so it covers your screen) and scroll down till you see a line that just out a good distance. Slow down and youll see what look like stats. (Hp max, attdam, etc) Change the values of the numbers only. If you scroll down more youll find gold which can be changed too. If you scroll down even further youll come across your main pawns stats as well
Is it possible to put weapon skills from one class onto another? Example; currently my Arisen is a Mystic Knight and I used the editor to force equip a magical bow as my secondary. The bow works, but has no skills. I already switched to Magick Archer and set the skills before I tried this.
Basically I'm looking for a way to have a magic bow with it's skills using a Mystic Knight. I already found the values (ids) of the skills I want, just don't know how to make it set in game.

hey i was just wondering if there is a way to edit the storage items in the beginning of the game before you choose your vocation because every time i do it and load the save it seems to not work.. so do we need items in there already or am i doing something wrong.. also is there a way to deleted quests so you can do them again because what im trying to do is when im finished getting my storage all set i want to deleted the whole completed two starter quests before you meet rook to make into a starter save for myself and if anyone wants it for them to but mostly for myself..
Seeing as no one is answering me on the tutorial side of this save editor i thought i would ask it here...

It doesn't work, if you put another class's skill on then when you load the save the skill slot will just be empty....

i have no idea lol, sorry man, that something to ask Idle, all i know is you can add items to the storage without having items in there, thats how i added items to my storage, but my save was later in the game when i did it XD
lol okay... but i have tried it myself a couple times with no items in the storage and it hasnt worked but now i think of it most of those saves where before i even choose my vocation... so im going to see if it works after i choose... and then i will get back to you... and idle if you can give any info on how you got yours to work that would be awesome..

Can anyone hit me with a step by step on how to add items to storage? Kinda getting tired of buying low level items and then swapping them into the better items..
Also, can anyone confirm/deny that only changing discipline points for a pawn will or will not corrupt the pawn's online data and make him unrentable?

My save data got corrupted and I was looking if there's a way I can restore it with this tool, I'm not looking to boost in anyway my character and/or pawn, just to keep playin the save I already started. Love the editor. Don't think I saw this in the thread anywhere, but if you Dragonforge items like restoratives, stat boosters etc, they have infinite usage. Helps save on carrying extra weight.

If it corrupted by turning off the console while saving (NOT BY MODDING), then there is NO way to restore it. And even if you corrupted it by modding then it's not always guaranteed that you can fix it.
Only suggestion I can make is restart the game and make Back-ups regularly.

It was corrupted by turning the console off and actually modding was the anwser! Looking at the code in the editor I noticed that the last lines of code were incomplete, so I donwloaded another save and just completed the missing lines on mine. This worked perfectly my gamesave was intact and nothing was lost!!
