HEY!

I no longer own a 360, nor do I have the source code for this editor anymore. I also will no longer be (nor have I been for some time) working on or releasing any mods for the 360. Therefor, all of my editors are on permanent hiatus, including this one. I know I made a lot of grand promises with this editor, and now they will not be fulfilled, and for that I apologize.

To clarify, I am not leaving the modding scene entirely, as I plan to move on to modding the PS4 (quite possibly for this website if the scene is good for it). However, I will not be returning to the 360 modding scene in any large part. I am grateful for the admins for allowing me to remain a member despite my long absences, and I will continue to use that membership to help the community from time to time. Otherwise, I will no longer be working with the 360.

Please PM me with any questions or concerns, and I will do my best to address them as quickly as possible. Thank you for understanding, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

This tool mods the main save file for Armored Core: For Answer. During initial release, it mods Coam (money) and FRS. However, I plan to take it MUCH further: it will mod Coam, FRS, tuning, campaign ranks, order matches, which parts your mech has equipped, and more (refer to the changelog to see what the tool can currently do). This tool will be the end-all for AC:FA tools!

I'm still developing this thing, so please let me know if you run into any errors. Expect regular updates.

v2.0
*Added ability to S Rank every mission (giving player a total SS Rank).
*Added spaces for equipped parts. Will make minor revisions as parts are added.

v1.2
*Refined tuning options.
*Restricted FRS options to allow for greater stability.
*Cleared garbage code for cleaner filesize.

v1.1
*Added ability to mod tuning to 255 on all stats. Will refine later.
*Fixed bugs with Coam due to use of unsigned Int32. Now write to signed Int32.

v1.0
*First release. Simple editor that mods FRS and money. Nothing special. (yet...)

*** NOTE: The "unlock everything" option does NOT unlock everything yet. At this point in time, it will up the rank of all levels to S, as well as complete all ordered matches. I will add the ability to actually unlock everything once I find where the unlocked parts are stored. It will be in my next update. Also note, if you haven't at least completed every mission legit (rank doesn't matter) then your rank won't go to SS until you do: this tool gives you the S rank for each stage, but I haven't located where the "completion" flags are, so you still actually have to beat the level for that S rank to take effect. And finally, the equipped parts section doesn't do anything, even if you choose to equip the parts. That section is still very much a work in progress and will be updated regularly. ***

As always, special thanks to feudalnate for PackageIO.
Thanks, Idlehands88, for the initial screenshot.

Thanks guys. The idea for this editor came from a conversation I had in another thread. In that thread, I said something to the effect of me being able to make a better AC:FA editor than the ones that are out there. Then I wondered why I just didn't do that? As it is now, it really is more or less only as good as those other editors. But give it some time, and you'll see it really start to take off. Next I'll be adding individual tuning modding. After that, I'll start the slow process of letting you mod the parts your mech has equipped.

EDIT: Also, this is my lucky post. Number 777!

Thank you guys for your support, and I'm glad you like the editor. Version 2.0 is up now, so feel free to have at it. A few quirks here and there, but it should work just the same. I'll update as I can.

emerald, as a user of both the 360, and the ps3, i was wondering if this will also work for the ps3 save files...?:)

It won't, sorry. The PS3 encrypts its save files, so they're almost impossible to edit. If you send me a PM with your PS3 save file, I can take a look at it and at the very least tell you if it can be modded. Again, chances are it can't, but you never know; I'd be happy to at least check for you to see if its possible.

Hey Emerald great job on the Editor,I was wondering if there are any new updates scheduled for release soon?

Yes, there will definitely be updates. I'm currently researching which values are used to unlock parts, and which values are used for completed stages. After that, I'll start working on modding individual parts. I plan to add those functions as soon as I'm able.

The main save (on the computer it should be called "GAME0000" or something similar). The editor isn't completed, and only the coam will show up anyway. I may or may not finish this editor for parts, I haven't completely decided yet. The only thing that works is the FRS, coam, and tuning options.

I actually plan on returning to this editor. In fact, I went out and bought For Answer again just so that I can finish it. The problem I face is that I've lost my original source code, so I have to start over from scratch. This in itself wouldn't normally be that big an issue, but right now my other big editor (the chao editor for the Sonic Adventure games) is taking up a huge bulk of any free time I devote to coding. So that's the good news and bad news: I do plan to finish this editor, but I have to start over and don't know how soon I'll be able to start spending time on it.

My ultimate goal with this editor is to find any unused parts in the game. With a game like this, I'd be surprised if From Software didn't leave at least some kind of parts that were meant for game testing. And test parts usually tend to be overpowered as well (that being the whole point of the tests to begin with). If I do happen to find overpowered test parts, I haven't decided whether I'll add them to the editor or not; on one hand there aren't that many people online anymore and so you'd mostly only be able to use it with friendly private matches, but on the other hand there are still small communities that play this game competitively. Basically what it boils down to is this: if I see enough people playing ranked matches online then I won't release any test parts I find, but if I don't see (comparatively) many people in ranked games then I will. As I'm sure a lot of you know, I'm whole-heartedly against online cheating, and am only releasing an in-depth editor like this because the game is old enough that it isn't played so much competitively anymore. So that's where I stand on that.

Bottom line, the editor is still a go, don't know when, and there might be some parts caps.

Tried messing around with it to get it working on both a new file, and my old one, to no avail. Anything I try putting in and loading, after booting it up, says it is unable to load the save. What gives?

The link works for me. I know your post was some time ago, so it may have been because your post count was too low. Any editor uploaded directly to 360 Haven is unavailable to members who are not above either a certain post count, a certain activity level, or a certain membership level; so long as you meet one of those requirements (for instance as a donator) you should have no issues downloading anything.

As mentioned above, I know I'm replying to an old post, so please forgive if it's no longer relevant. However, if you're still having problems, please PM me the issue and I'll try to help you work around it.
