ok guys as promised
here is the newest version of the editor
still doesn't look like much
but you can edit money and for your main characters the attributes
Strength, Dexterity, Magic, Cunning, Willpower and Constitution

please note i made a restriction so you can only have a max of 100
for each of those attributes as the game wont load your save
if you change the amount to something very high
i was able to set it to 110 but it never really showed up...

i found the values for the other characters but i still haven't found the pointer to them
that's why i haven't add them yet
but will do that as soon as i get them ^-^

one more note...
this editor is by no means finished
so please report bugs when you find them

________________________

is there a chance that you can recompile the program in .net 3.5? i keep getting .net framwork error saying 4.0 is missing. I've been having that problem with ALL .Net 4 apps for a while, reinstalling does not help

cybersam

here are two pictures, which include all the info you need I guess.
It's in german, but I hope that's fine ...

cybersam
03-06-2011, 03:31 PM
it's perfectly fine... as i understand german ^-^
in any case... please upload it to another host next time... your save i mean...
because it's really slow... -.-'''

misterx

that's the only host I am registered to.

I could use rapidshare next time :)

cybersam
03-06-2011, 04:01 PM
better yet megaupload or mediafire ^-^

anyway... back on topic
this looks doable as the first pointer (which we need for the money) is working perfectly
just the position of the money changed ^-^

Renegade
03-06-2011, 04:07 PM
Nice work, Still haven't played the first one though, still wrapped in seal since release, May play through them both, However i prefer to manually hex my stuff, But great work, you are doing the community a favour, that's what we like to see ;).

cybersam
03-06-2011, 04:17 PM
that's what i like doing... ^-^

any way...
i'll create a tutorial on how to find all the offsets once i get everything worked out...
as there seems to be a bit of a problem with the party members...
and i still don't know where some of the things are

but the tutorial will be mostly only interesting for those who really know how to hex stuff
as there is a lot of moving around ^-^
from one pointer to another, then adding values to one pointer only to find that the position its is pointing to is value that needs to be added to the first pointer and so on...
it's quite mess... or should i say a pointer parade
its full of pointer pointing somewhere ^-^

------------------------------------------------
i need to play this game for bit myself too ^-^'''
haven't played very much only till the first town

thedivinemonkey
03-06-2011, 06:17 PM
thanks for the editor, worked perfectly. Haven't really looked into hexing this game yet, been too busy doing other stuff, so the tut would come in real handy.

much appreciated. It would be great if we could edit the carrying weight.

cybersam
03-06-2011, 06:24 PM
hmm... i thought i should first find where the party members are saved...
does any of have a save with more then 4 play able characters ?!
because i think i found it but there is a number that is irritating me ^-^'''

i could try to find that weight value... it shouldn't be to hard to find... i hope ^-^'''

eLif
03-06-2011, 06:51 PM
Save with total of 8 players (include yourself as warrior)

they all got hexedit only 1 in party member is deafult.
2 party members got abillity open.

1 member with 1 abillity (also the default) and other got 4 abillitys

Hope thats enough

i will add that info... thanks for reporting... however it was fun to read through that topic ^-^'''

well i was around when people put tutorials on 360-content...
but i had my hands full with the star ocean editor... ^-^

and if i hadn't this problem with the checksum for infinite undiscovery or operation darkness i would be doing one of those too this time around ^-^'''
but you guys got lucky this time ^-^

and let me do some advertisements...
for those who don't know about the star ocean editor check the MSE - Jörmungandr - Star Ocean 4 editor
i hope i can turn this editor to something as big as that ^-^

and here is a small preview on what will be next in the next version of this editor
first of all...
a character list where you will be able to modify each character stats... but only the characters you have atm...
and every wanted to carry infinite amount of items... well with the next version you will have the chance to change the max weight value ^-^

one more thing for the next version...
i'll add the ability to change the money and the weight as well for Dragon Age Origins(it might work for Awakening as well... i certainly hope it does) ^-^

but i'm not going for more research on DAO atm... will do that later... now it will only be the DA2
i hope i can finish up the editor this evening...

Thank you very much for your contributions cybersam can't wait to see this update also perhaps you should include a changelog for your tool? Also a auto-update feature to compliment this? :)

cybersam
03-06-2011, 11:55 PM
@eric22
me ?!... one of the best ?!... are you kidding ?!... i am the best ^-^
.... just kidding...
if i'm really one of the best... then i'd have to ask... where is this world heading to... this can't be good ^-^'''

uh dante...
a change log i can do...
but an auto update... ?!... this is isn't something that need going to be updated forever... ^-^'''
but let me first add the characters and the max weight...
after that i'll see what i can do ^-^

Dante
03-07-2011, 12:01 AM
Ah I see auto update isn't necessary just to update the changelog but it's fine no worry I appreciate everything and all others as well.

Also, has anyone managed to figure out how to find the specialization points? I currently have one.. :(

cybersam
03-07-2011, 12:09 AM
well the problem with this if you don't have you can't mod it...
because there is lot of thing to be considered and a lot of pointer to be changed if you want to add something
so that's something not going to happen...
that's why i never implemented attribute points and ability points to the editor

and if i someone on page 11 posted about this the specialization points (in the other thread)

eLif
03-07-2011, 12:23 AM
For the check you only need to have 3 specialization points, thats enough for warrior class. As far i know, don't know about other classes yet.

Dante
03-07-2011, 12:24 AM
Yeah, I just checked out he said

address hex type
00074E19 35FFFF: ability
00074EAC 27FFFF: stat
00074E89 2AFFFF: specialization

I ran a search for the specialization but.. It's very difficult to tell how can I be sure?

Edit: Nevermind, a bit of tinkering with the way you showed me in hex workshop I found it. :)

cybersam
03-07-2011, 12:43 AM
well.. as i said you need at least 1 spcialization point to be able to edit the value (sometimes it works when you got 0... not always though)

any way... to find one of the the three values you need to have them...
lets say you have 3 spcialization points
in you hex editor you can serch for 3 as float32 type
that might give you a bunch of results...
but you can go through them and if one of them has "00 25 FF FF" or "00 27 FF FF" or "00 2A FF FF" in front of them then you can be sure its what you're looking for
as i have discarded this info because of its complexity (at least if i were to add it to the editor) i might be a bit off be a few bytes ^-^'''

------------------------------------------------------
it looks like it may take a bit...
i have almost everything i need...
just need to find out which attributes are for which character
i could go by numbers... but that doesnt seem right...

Lets say the level of your character = 1
search for 23FFFF3F80000

level 2
23FFFF40000000

level 3
23FFFF40400000

level 4
23FFFF40800000

level 5
23FFFF40A00000

level 6
23FFFF40C00000

level 7
23FFFF40E00000

level 8
23FFFF41000000

level 9
23FFFF41100000

level 10

Level of my character = 8 and my XP = 3175/8000

1AFFFF46F38E00000000000023FFFF410000

Red = XP
Orange = amount xp (31175)
Blue = Level
Purple = amount lv (8)

cybersam
03-07-2011, 03:04 AM
ok... as i started this i should be the one to correct it... ^-^'''
the "00 23 FF FF"
doesn't tell you whats coming next... it tells you what has ended
so that mean "00 23 FF FF" tells us this was the block for exp
and "00 24 FF FF" is for the lvl

sorry about the confusion... the time i explained how to find the attribute points and ability points it was easier to explain that way...

in this game and also in DA1 the values are saved in blocks and pointers which point to those blocks
the size of those blocks is mostly set right before the pointer
not for every block though... as some blocks have a fixed size

Dante
03-07-2011, 03:25 AM
Sephiroth what if we edit the current XP to a higher amount than the target XP for level up will it work as a multi-level edit?

Sephiroth
03-07-2011, 03:47 AM
I didnt get any attributes, ability nor specialization points after editing the level to 50, so forget about the level.

Here is a example of how you should edit/write the amount of xp.
46F38E00 = 31175 ( in game = 3,175 = lv8
48975E00 = 310000 ( in game = 30,000 = lv25
48C9F400 = 413600 ( in game = 43,600 = lv29

How are those numbers being converted? Im having a hard time understanding. I've been trying to look up these numbers in hex? If you could explain it would be greatly appreciated. Great work cybersam and Sephiroth

cybersam
03-07-2011, 11:42 AM
@Castor
well there is no conversion or anything
this is what i've understood so far ^-^
i'll explain it with the hexstring Sephiroth posted

and don't worry... it looks more complex then it really is

00 1A FF FF 46 F3 8E 00 00 00 00 00 00 23 FF FF 41 00 00 00
this is the actual block where the values are saved in this case its a small block
and the values are saved as float32

46 F3 8E 00 00 00 00 00 00 23 FF FF

- this is the actual value as said this is saved as float32 (in hex workshop you can directly edit the value as float32 in the "Data Inspector" window)

- Empty space... have not seeing it bein used in such small blocks

- this is like EOF... in this case it says End of the block ^-^
the 00 23 is the actual ID this tells us what this block contains (this is only the case for the attribute blocks and some others but not for most of them)
and FF FF this is where the block really ends ^-^

if that is too much information...
well
in your hex editor
convert your level to float32 if you use hex workshop then you can use the base converter
for example your level is 8 (the same as in Sephiroth's example)
you can search fo this hex string
"41 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 24 FF FF"

41 00 00 00 = float32 value is 8

that should give you only 1 result or if you have more than one character with that level you get more results

Strange, set mine to 80 all attributes and 999,999,999 money and worked fine. Perhaps try resigning the save with Le Fluffie (or something similar) after using the editor, see if that solves your problem.

well i made sure that you can't go over 100 in the editor even if you type in a value that is higher than 100 it will reset to 100...

anything higher then that and the save wont load anymore...

cybersam, if I load my save from DA 2, which was modded before to have 899,999,999 gold, and I don't do anything but load the save, mod the weight from 60 to 999, and it errors out... shows a box that says -385024

i'm using the 1.06 i just downloaded from the front page

the editor loads the file, it would crash with that error only when saving, even without changing anything

someairforcedude

it loads, but when i change it from 60 to 999 and save, without changing anything else, thats when it errors out. version 1.06

Edit:
It also says unhandled exception after that -..... in the msgbox that pops up.

Also it does change the value even after the error, it seems to me like the checksum is not getting fixed as 360 hash block calculator shows a ton of false...whereas before only the last line would show false.

A quick question to anyone using this tool here. I'm using USBXTAFGUI_v44:
1. to extract the save game from the USB to the desktop
2. Edit the savegame using firstblight
3. Deleting the save game on the USB through XTAF
4. Injecting edited saved game on my desktop onto USB.

The problem is, everytime I try to open up the save game on my 360 it says corrupted file and deletes it. I'm not exactly sure what's going on. Is this because of the new update to the 360 that I applied when I played Dragon Age?

well the save weren't corrupted... but for some reasons some people have problem that the editor doesn't resign the save for them...
if that happens to you use your favorite resigning tool to resign/rehash it again and then it should work ^-^

will do that later on... ^-^
it shouldn't be to hard as only the offsets to the pointer changed a bit...but has mostly the same structure...

@lv2bll
well i'm doing some research on what all the attributes are that can be in side the attributes block...
so i can add them all in... but they will only be editable when you get them...

Hey guys, I didn't really look through the thread yet but I found out how to mod the Effects on equipped items.

For me the Offset started at 0x4D880, for the effects so far I found that 0C## are bad (they are for restrictions/Required to equip). As for the Effect Values, they are 3F80 by default (meaning no change), I changed the 3F80 to 4E80 and got VERY high numbers, fun to use with the +% increase attack speed. I have 5,000,000,000% Attack speed lol and it work too :P

lol... it looks like i had the pointer to the equipment all along...
but never tried out where it really leads to as i concentrated on the attributes ^-^'''
but with this i might be able to add and equipment editor (probably will only work for equipped items)

just need to make sure i can find the pointer to all equipment types ^-^
as i can see only 4 equipments in the equipment list (in the hex editor)

they are probably divided in types like weapons, armor and accessories

To cybersam and idlehands without the effect id's the only pointer to go by would be to search using an item's effect value's. IE greatsword with 3 effect with 100% of each would be searched by 00640000006400000064. And move up from there.

cybersam
03-10-2011, 10:40 AM
@Castor
well... if i where to program the editor with a search function it will become very slow and maybe even inaccurate...
i got all the pointer i need to go to the exact equipments offset and to its effects

the only thing is... as we don't really know all the IDs for the items and effects it wont be possible to change them in the next update you'll only have the option to change their values and if you know the ID then you will be able to type in the ID in a text field

and one more thing... you can't add or remove effects
because we have the same problem as before
we can only edit things we have
as it would require a lot of time to figure out where all the pointers are and what they are all pointing to and of course what happens there
if we get that... then we can change almost anything
but this is a lot of work and can't be done by a single person or 2

with that said... don't get your hopes up with thinking you can add effects and items ^-^'''

@jkipp82
if you haven't noticed yet i already combined the money and max weight editor for origins and awakening to this editor (you only have to open a DAO savegame with this editor and you will see the DAO editor ^-^)
so it would be unwise to separate them now... ^-^

That wouldn't work because the values aren't written as there in-game value. Here is an example of what I mean:

040000156D0000045600000BBB000017D20000043F8000003F 8000003F8000003F800000000004

Number of Effects
Effect ID
Effect Value

As you can see the values aren't the same as they were in Origins (I think they thought is would be harder to mod?). 3F80 is the default value for effects. In my friend's save he had a couple 4000's for values, but for the most part it should be 3F80. Just search for "3F8000003F800000" and you should find your items. Just make sure you are editing an item and not something else :P ALSO, make sure to not change an effect value of any effect ID that starts with 0C## as that is the ID range for the required to equip (Requires: 20 Strength to equip). So make sure you change the 0C## ID to something else, try experimenting with the ID's.

cybersam
03-10-2011, 12:42 PM
lets start correcting a few things... ^-^'''
those "Effect Values" aren't real values... those are modifiers saved as float values...
i haven't found the real values yet (well i found something but not sure about it as not every equipment has this extra info)
well at least we can mod those modifiers ^-^

i got another problem for the editor...
as long as we don't have the IDs for the items i won't be able to identify them
so we wont exactly know what equipment we are modifying
(same thing with the characters...)
as those lists they are saved in don't have a specific order
and this is also true for the attributes but at least i managed to get some of the IDs so i can identify them correctly (at least those we want to modify ^-^)

@Bazinga
well i would... but i first need to find that value ^-^'''

Equipped items (for your character, not for team members) are closer to the bottom of the save, and all other items in your inventory/storage are closer to the top.

Ahh, I see. Thanks.

Cybersam how did you find where the values for the attributes were stored? Idlehands, how did you know that the attribute points were stored as float values. And what are float values? Are they essentially pointers? I've been learning c++ for a bit but I haven't gotten to float values, though I do know what pointers are.

cybersam
03-10-2011, 09:48 PM
well after i found the pointer to the mainstats (that's what i call the block where all the information and most of the pointers are saved)
i looked around and tried a few after some tests i saw a pattern in the whole mess... ^-^'''
i found the pointer to the main character there i then started looking for some clues on where the attributes could be saved after a bit i found the attributes and saw that they were saved as floats (float is a different word for decimal numbers... well at least when it comes to programming ^-^)
now after i found the attributes all i did was to look for the starting point as it looked as if they were saved in list
the starting point was easy to find
and since i already knew the main pointer it was then easy to calculate everything

well that's how i found all the stuff ^-^
(after i'm done with the update i'll try to make a tutorial about this)

Idlehands88

I was looking around in the save for anything that looked like the setup for effects like in the first game, then I saw the 3F80's and realized that they were float values (same thing like in Fallout NV)

ok guys...
it's finally time...
i don't know why but i'm getting tiered again... can't look the code for a long time without my eyes losing focus...

any way..
i finished the update to point where i can release it... i hope
i marked this release as a beta
so consider yourselves informed ^-^

in this release i added the equipment effect editor for the main char and for the party members...
in my tests it worked without problems... but one never knows

also i re coded the main chars attribute editor
it's now possible to change more attributes (only for the main character)
you can edit exp, levle, attribute-, ability- and specialization points if you have at least 1 of them some times they will show up even if you used them all up

any way... have fun with this release...

and as the code grows bigger and bigger there might be some bugs hidden somewhere
so report please report if you find any

===edit
oh... i forgot to test the effect ID field
so guys that field activates when you click on the check box beside it, it's a small security measure so no one accidentally edits the value as you might damage you save with that

so if you guys know some effect ID try them out in that box... and type them in only as HEX strings

I tried to make everything 1,000,000 but for the weapons, it said I needed something like 12,000 dexterity haha.. I went down to 50 and it was still required way to much.
The ring made my health +7,000,000 though

How does the equipment editor work? Do you have to click on the unclick box?

Go back into the editor and find an ID of 0C## for example, 0C4E is bad! those are the ID's for the required to equip.

Also to Cybersam, I can't open my character in the Editor anymore :( I used it on my new save and it worked, but now it says that I have a value of -2.1 billion and it won't load :(

Dont change any of the ones under 0C## or C## as thats what they look like in the editor, those are restrictions and such.

did anyone already tried the effect IDs.... to see if they work as they should ?!

I changed the ID's and they work. However I can't use the Editor anymore because of the max value thing...

First off, great job in making this editor. It has helped me a lot! Secondly, the ability points editing is not working properly. I do see the points in the game, but after I add them to my talents, I don't see the 'Confirm' button, which is supposed to be 'A' on the controller. Can anyone confirm this problem? Or am I doing something wrong here? I did this after my character got a level and had 1 ability point from the game, and then I changed the value to 20. But after adding the points to my talents, the 'confirm' button did not show up. Only reset and select show up on my screen. Is there something wrong I am doing here? Thanks in advance and that's all for me.

You can only confirm if you spend all of your points. Only add as many points as you have skills/spells available.

?!... how did it change to a negative value o_O
did you changed some of the modifiers to over "80 00 00 00" (in the hex editor)
if not can you send me that save... in any case... i'll update the editor so it fixes the min and max values ... so if your saves has a value that is higher than the max then it will be reset to max same goes for min...

well... i'll add that once i find it ^-^
