A couple days ago I downloaded this save file editor for dark souls on my computer. It was V2.5 made by a guy named Jappi. I plugged my flash drive into my 360 to put my save file onto it, then I plugged it into my computer and modded all my stats, and plugged it back into my 360 and started playing on the modded profile. I now am worried for no reason because my xbox is brand new (just got it 4 days ago) and I have really bad OCD. My xbox is running fine but I still have that thought in the back of my head that there is a chance there's a virus on my 360. Btw the save file editor that I downloaded is a really popular one that people use. I'll never mod again. So does my 360 have a virus?

My xbox is running just fine and I do not mean to blame jappi. I'm new to all this modding stuff so idk if it's possible it can give me a virus that I wouldn't know about. I just have OCD and I can't get the possibility of it giving me a virus out of my head. I'm just curious IF it CAN give my xbox 360 a virus?

See viruses are designed by humans and they are codes, the save editor you used to modify the save/profile as you say might get you banned from xbox live but will noway harm your console and as par as I think you should always back things up and as par as jappi is concerned he is one of the best Dev thus forum have so just chill out while using his tools :)
I blame Tapatalk for any mistake in this post :)

Modifying saves cannot give you a virus on your xbox lol. If you were to get a virus it would be on your computer as it would be binded to the save editor executable. We at Haven are trusted none the less, Jappi is also a great developer and loyal friend of mine. He would never dream of infecting an exe and attacking your computer. You're safe. Know this though, any form of modding can lead to a ban. You take that risk on your own will.

Ok now that I understand how it works a little better I feel safe now. Thanks for your responds guys. One more thing though, a couple guys on xbl threatened to file a complaint on me for modding dark souls and said that my xbox 360 console itself can get banned for doing it. Now I understand that my profile can get banned, but my xbox?

Another thing I forgot to mention was that I downloaded Jappi's editor from a site called xpgamesaves.com. Is that a safe and trusted site? sorry for having so many questions

It largely depends on how Microsoft feels at the moment, but it is possible to have a console ban for modding. It would REALLY suck if it's a new console. I think you should try modding everything back down to reasonable levels. I keep my stats at 99 each (level is in the low 600s). With a little math, you should be able to find out what your level should be with all stats at 99. Either that, or play in offline mode.
An now for your virus question. Everybody here said "Jappi wouldn't do that" (which he wouldn't) but I don't think anybody actually answered your question. A save editor doesn't carry any files with it other than the ones it needs to run (usually PackageIO). If the program itself were infected, your anti-virus would detect it the moment it's downloaded. Save editors don't add code to your save file, they just change existing code; in order for your console to be infected, the editor would have to actually add the code of the virus. Which (again) they don't. In short, you won't ever get a virus by modding a save.

Thanks a lot for your info. Although I don't think my computer has anti-virus so it probably wouldn't detect anything lol

There is always a bunch of haters that will rebel against you for doing something they cannot. Depending on the offence. It can be profile or console ban, sometimes even both. Just gotta be careful.

Yes they are safe. Recommended? No.

Personally, I prefer AVG Free. There are better anti-virus suites that I'm sure other would recommend, but AVG Free is has better protection and is generally more reliable than most others, and it is free. It's easy to use, popular, quickly updated, only as intrusive as it has to be (I'm looking at you Norton), and it will react to most threats immediately. It's great for those that aren't used to using computers! In fact, it is so careful, that it picks up anything that even MIGHT be a virus (my only complaint, as I've lost some innocent programs that way). You can find it here: http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage
Regardless of which virus protection you choose, you should at least have SOME protection. Do a little research and see what best suits your needs. Then you won't have to worry about catching a virus from something you download. ;)

Yeah man, You've got to be careful when playing online with modded saves and consoles. If you end up with a console ban then you will need to get a new key vault.

I have downloaded stuff from that site before and never had a problem but I would suggest you only download mod tools from people who are trusted on the site if a thread gets created about downloading a mod tool, you should look at the date that person joined and if anyone else has commented on the thread saying they have had problems with it.
Yes modding can get your profile banned or even your console banned that's why you don't go crazy with modding, single player games are super easy to get away with unless they have leader boards and what you have modded
effected the leader board, being number one on a leader board with 9999999 points can make it super easy to get detected but modding the multiplayer side of games does come with a bigger risk because most company's look out for hackers/modders however that being said I have modded dark souls like crazy online and nothing has happend but again MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Thats crazy, and if this same topic was posted there, you would have got a lot less useful info and a whole lot more derogatory commits.

It is virtually impossible for your 360 to have a virus from modding, especially save modding. If you were talking about JTag-involved mods, then it would, in theory, be possible to brick your console, which I guess you could call a "virus"...
