Ubuntu Linux 10.0 is my main.

I have another hard drive dedicated to Winblowz 7 Ultimate, but I only switch to that when I need to use programs that are Winblowz-only as well as Xbox 360 save editors. And for PC gamng occasionally, of course.

I'm also running Windows XP Professional 32. I thought about at least upgrading to Vista, but my PC is old and I only have a 37GB hard drive; when I found out Vista takes around 5GB, I figured I didn't want to blow a sixth of my space just to house a OS that blows anyways. I'll be keeping my XP until I make enough money for that Alienware, thank you.

My main runs 7 Ultimate 32bit, in addition i have:

1 7 Ult x64 & XP Pro dual boot
2 7 Ult x64
An Asus EEE with Backtrack Linux / XP
I also have some virtuals for server 2008 r2, CentOS and OpenBSD.
I haven't bought a single one of the Microsoft ones as my training centre was a MS partner and I was granted a somewhat strange array of msdn access alongside my certifications, I also pirate.
Most of them are for learning, a crappy economy demands i can turn tricks at a moments notice :(

Also Emerald Lance, don't go for an Alienware, they lost their quality when Dell bought them and started shaving costs by using crappier parts, you can build yourself a top of the line computer by buying all the parts and building it yourself and its practically cheaper, plus you don't feel all wimpy and pathetic letting some kid in a distant land build it in seconds.

I dont find Vista too bad, took a while to get used to after using XP but I cant complain how it runs. All in all though I reckon XP was the best they have released so far.

Believe me win7 is 10 times better than vista :P but if you got 3/4GB DDR2/3 insite, Vista will still run oke. Right now only Win7 as 64bit for me!

Got 4gb of DDR2 Kingston in it and it's always ran fine for me, only played with 7 for bout half hour so I'm sure theres lots of extra features that I havent seen yet.

Just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit last week which was one of my last upgrades for my PC. Only really did it for Dx11 and so my PC recognized my full ram (It was 6 gigs prior to updating)

I wish I could figure out how to install Debian... Apparently, it's not as simple as installing Ubuntu and requires some commands that I do not know and whatnot. Perhaps you should post up a tutorial? I want to install and try out Debian on one of my spare hard drives.

Also, you mentioned Mint... Would that happen to be Linux Mint/Mint Linux (However the words are placed) by any chance? Because that OS is not bad at all and looks rather nice. Or so I think. (Been interested in it for a while after trying it on one of my spare hard drives.)

Still going to use Ubuntu until Linux Mint either outdoes it or something better than both comes along.

Ubuntu is Debian based.

Sorry, had to correct your typo. :P (The grammar nazi in me took over. >_< Don't ban me, bro.!)

But you are most correct.

Depends on the day, and what I'm going to do. Anyway here my OS's going:

++Laptop++

Backtrack 5
Ubuntu 10.4
Windows 7
Windows XP Pro SP3(Black Edition)

++Desktop++

Windows 7 Ultimate Black Edition
Windows XP Profressional SP3 Gamers Edition
Ubuntu 10.4
Gentoo
Backtrack 5
OSX Leopard(Hacked Version For The PC)

If you are going to use any Linux kernels use one of these 2(By far my fav's)
+Ubuntu(Perfect for those who want security, and f'n hate m$)
+Backtrack(Perfect for those who just love to hack their "own:bigsmile2:" wireless networks, or websites.

Currently using Windows Vista on my sister's laptop. When I construct a beast machine it will use either XP or Windows 7; I've used both of those and I like them equally although 7 has a lot of cool and useful refined features.

Those are linux distributions not linux kernels (http://www.kernel.org/). And backtrack is outdated, give Blackbuntu (http://www.blackbuntu.com/) a try. Personally I prefer Fedora core over both. You can do the same pen testing on any linux distro, Backtrack and Blackbuntu just happen to have the tools pre-installed.

Gonna have to give that a try, my latest obsession involves pen testing and these neighbours wireless have been taunting me shaking their precious noodz all about the radiowaves!
I already have the WEP crowd taken care of, 3 mins each, great security... One was even a fully fledged linux network, i got the hell out of there that guys obviously crazy.

Also i have no idea why but i'm only running win 7 ultimate on x86 but this comps good for 64, think it was software or something stupid like that, can't be bothered to upgrade however. anything i need i just run in a virtual like my server :) i do love virtualisation.

This might sound a little weird, but I'm still using Windows Vista Home Basic.

I've modded this OS with so many stuff to suit my work needs and I'd have trouble if I have to migrate all these data and mods to a new OS, so no Windows 7 for me at the moment. This one is still running fast enough for me even on a Core 2 Duo T6400 and 4GB of RAM, you just need to maintain it well.

yes i am using win xp all the way ;) I'm still going XP, just for familiarity, as I've been using it for years. Vista's garbage, and until I get around toneeding to upgrade my PC, Windows 7 is not in my sights. For what I use my computer for, it great, so I'm fine with XP.
