View Full Version : Horizon is giving me some problems.

I'll start this off by saying that I've never used Horizon before, nor have I really modded. The most I've ever done is use Modio to transfer Skyrim saves between my 360 and my computer for quest fixes and whatnot.

So anyway, I'm currently trying to download this save (http://www.360haven.com/forums/showthread=14482-soulcalibur-v-new-game-secret-costumes.html) for Soul Calibur 5. Pretty much everybody there said that Modio is crap and Horizon is great, so I went ahead and downloaded it. No big deal. However, when I started up Horizon, my saves never showed up on my USB drive. None of them. I popped my thumb drive back into my 360, and they were all there. I transferred the drive back to my PC, and they all showed up on Modio. But when I tried with Horizon, all it kept saying was that my "Games" folder was empty. It's getting really frustrating.

Can anybody possibly tell me what could be wrong, or anything I might be able to do to get them to show up?

I've already tried going to XboxMB. Whenever I try to post something, it says that I can't post anything because I may not have sufficient privileges to access the posting page [Which is silly, because it's Horizon Support], or my account hasn't been activated. But I've been checking my email almost constantly since I registered, and I haven't gotten anything from them. Not even in my Junk folder. I can't even find where I'm supposed to go to check if I spelled my email address correctly, or ask them to send another email. It's very frustrating.

So nobody here has ever used Horizon, and doesn't know absolutely anything about it at all? Interesting, I could've sworn this was a modding site, and Horizon is a modding tool. I guess I'll just go ask at McDonald's next, then, since that place is apparently just as qualified to answer my question as this site is. Thank you for your helpfulness yet again, internet.

All I can think of solving your issue is to backup your saves and then format your USB drive with a cluster size of 16kb and then try formatting with the Xbox 360 again. You can also try running Horizon as Administrator if you haven't already. Other than that. I'm not sure. We at Haven didn't make Horizon so you're best off troubleshooting with them.

Well, we didn't develop Horizon. The reason we choose not to troubleshoot on it is that we wouldn't want other people trying to troubleshoot our tools. That said, you have a few common options. Try opening the program as administrator (right click). You could also try a different USB drive, as sometimes it isn't formatted by the 360 as best as it could be (the 360 will tell you that it works but isn't up to standards). Finally, try reinstalling Horizon as administrator (again, right click).

Now, this is just common "everyday" advice for every editor, and not specific to Horizon. If none of these three things fixed your problem, then you really should keep trying to get that registration fixed. If you still don't get the email soon, try registering again; if it tells you that the email address you're trying to register under is currently being used, then that's how you know that you've used the right email address. Other than that, it's just a waiting game. It can sometimes take several hours, depending on the website (I once registered somewhere where I didn't receive an email for five days).

Of course, I wouldn't give up hope just yet. We have a wonderful in-house AIO editor that does most of the same things Horizon can do. Check out XB36Hazard's Xbox 360 Tools - Infinity (http://www.360haven.com/forums/showthread=10483-%5Brelease%5D-xbox-360-tools-%96-infinity.html), and it may be a great alternative to getting Horizon to work. XB36Hazard is very talented and I use Infinity myself quite often. I'd say the only advantage Horizon has is that it's more popular; Infinity does all the same stuff and is just as reliable.

EDIT: Also, try to be a bit more respectful. There are reasons we aren't helping; it isn't that we can't, it's that we won't (the tool wasn't developed here). Even if we did develop the tool, nobody has to help if they don't want. And, chances are, when you take an attitude like that, people won't help you.

Thank you for the tips. I'm sorry for the attitude. It's just been a long, frustrating night, compounded by my usually-fast internet going snail-slow anytime I try to do anything. Help has been a huge pain to find, and this site has gone non-responsive four times in the time it's taken me to type up this incredibly short message.
Anyway, enough of my complaining. Thank you again for the tips, I'll be sure to try those. Sorry again.

Oh my, thank you for the more in-depth version of the guy above you's advice. I hadn't thought of simply trying to re-register. I'll chalk that up to my pissy attitude keeping me from trying to think harder. I'll try them all lickity-split. As soon as my net decides to stop being three different pains in the neck all at once. Thank you for even that common advice. The only editor I've ever used was Modio, and that one was simple and to-the-point. Nothing went wrong with that one, so I guess I figured they'd all be as trouble-free. Learning opportunity, I guess.

And thank you very much for the alternative. It'll be nice to have something I might actually be able to get some support with. XboxMB is a huge pain to navigate. Just trying to access the information I'd just given them, like, ten minutes earlier was a headache itself. The huge amount of ads on this site may be annoying, but it's better than not being able to do anything at all. :/

And like I told the other guy, sorry for the attitude. Technological ineptitude can be very, very frustrating sometimes. Trying to delve a bit deeper than the surface is proving to be a lot harder than I'd been expecting.

Oh, I definitely understand that. We all have to start somewhere, right? And no respect lost for prompt apologies. ^-^

If you do feel that way about Haven, then you might try buying a VIP membership. It's only $5 for a month and it will get rid of the ads completely, which I can imagine will only serve to help you browse the site faster. The ads are there because Seph and the other admins offer their tools for free (in fact, free usage is one of the conditions of PackageIO, which most of the rest of us use to develop our own tools), so Seph has to make money to keep the site running some other way. Buying VIP makes up for that, so then there's no reason to stick ads up on your account. If you like Haven, the best way you can support the staff (and, by proxy, the rest of us) is to purchase a VIP membership. Plus, there are a few benefits to being a VIP member other than getting rid of the ads. ;)

If you don't have the money, the ads will disappear automatically once you hit 200 posts. I've been a senior member so long that I sometimes forget we even have ads. It's only when I clear my cookies and cache and have to log in again that I remember how slow it can make one's connection.

Small price to pay for free tools, right? Most places want you to pay for their tools (Horizon works best when you buy the diamond version). At any rate, welcome to Haven.

Thanks. I'm not sure how much of a "permanent fixture" I'll become here, since I rarely mod. I usually prefer to earn my stats and whatnot the hard way, it's just annoying when games lock you out of cool stuff for no discernible reason. Main reason I'm practicing with a game with locked content that also has relatively dead multiplayer. No harm in modding something inconsequential in a game that's hardly relevant anymore. Well, according to my moral compass, at least.

In any case, I'll be sure to stick around for a while to see how much use I can get out of the site. If it proves to be more useful than I initially thought, I may actually support y'all. Not like I don't get anything out of it - Faster browsing speed is always a plus.

tl;dr

Try these instead:

Party Buffalo (http://clkxu5.com/drivexplore/Party%20Buffalo.exe)
USBXTAF v44 (http://digiex.net/attachments/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/apps-pc/6363d1298280701-xbox-360-usb-storage-explorer-xplorer-xtaf-v44-new-usbxtafgui_v44.zip)
XBOX 360 Tools Infinity (http://www.360haven.com/forums/showthread=10483-[release]-xbox-360-tools-%96-infinity.html)
Midol (http://www.midol.com/products.html)

If none of the above work for you, there's a good chance the problem lies with your USB drive and not the tools. Post the specs of your drive and be prepared to move everything off and reformat it.

The only way to troubleshoot FATX problems is if the user having problems uploads their usb/mu/hdd dump so we can look at it. Also, I'm always available for contact if you have any problems with Horizon, you can contact me here if you have problems with XMB.

I used to get the same problem as well, but I updated .NET and just restarted the app. No problems so far.
