Microsoft is about to launch a new promotion offering any student who purchases a Windows 7 PC (laptop or desktop) at $699 or more a free 4GB Xbox 360 S.

The promotion officially runs from May 23 through September 9, though Windows Team Blog notes that the end date will vary by retailer.

I wonder just how many bad grades, botched assignments, and failed tests the 360 will be blamed for by entering freshmen. I remember back in 2001 when I entered college my first semester grades were abysmal. My roommate had a Nintendo 64 with Goldeneye, Mario 64, and Ocarina of Time...... needless to say I spent too much time on the 64 instead of my new $1800 Dell laptop with a whopping 512MB of RAM.:oops:

i was looking for a new laptop to replace my crappy mac. perfect deal. bought laptop for $700 and sold the new xbox xD for $275
