The Nintendo DS game Ace Attorney, which made Phoenix Wright a popular name in the US, may be heading to the big screen - Uwe Boel and Paul W.S. Anderson free!

Takashi Miike (13 Assassins) was at Cannes promoting his new film, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, where he dropped to The Huffington Post that his next project is most likely an adaptation of the DS title.

"It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS," Miike said.

Anyone else want a Phoenix Wright/Harvey Birdman team-up movie?

Miike doesn't say the title outright, but unless there is another comedic game on the DS centered around courtroom fun, we're pretty sure Ace Attorney: The Movie is happening. The point-and-click series hit the U.S. starting with a translated edition titled Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, following the Wright's often funny "legal adventures".
