In talks with Warner Bros. to make a movie based on the game
Mojang boss and creator of Minecraft Marcus Persson aka Notch, has just revealed that he's working with Warner Bros. to create a Minecraft movie.
In his Twitter post, Notch says "Someone is trying leak the fact that we're working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!" Emphasis on 'potential' there, as there are no iron clad guarantees it's being made, or if it'll hit cinemas or go straight to DVD.
However, entertainment news website Deadline reports that the producers for The Lego Movie, Roy Lee and Dan Lin, are involved in making the live-action movie. Seems they know a few things about movies that stack bricks and blocks, as The Lego Movie has grossed just over US$280mil worldwide thus far.13991139921399313994Minecraft has proven itself to be a runaway hit, with a massive 100 million registered PC users and 10 million copies sold on Xbox 360, so a movie tie-in is the next step in printing even more money.
An Xbox One version of Minecraft will also be released.
