Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer mentioned a service called "Xbox Music" at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference in Los Angeles yesterday.
According to Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/ballmer-talks-about-how-skype-will-fit-into-microsoft-2011-7), Ballmer stated the service would be enabled this fall, contain over 11 million songs and be compatible with Kinect.

With rumors of some Zune Marketplace subscription service (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/08/rumor-zune-marketplace-revamped-on-xbox-360-as-streaming-video/) coming to the console and the Zune brand having been on shaky ground (http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/15/microsoft-says-zune-isnt-exactly-dead-that-it-doesnt-want-to/) for a bit, it's possible that Xbox Music is a new name or reimagining of Zune Pass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zune) for Xbox 360 -- or it could be like Sony's Qriocity (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Qriocity). We've contacted Microsoft for any further details.

exactly who wants more useless crap on the dashboard that we have to pay another fee for (needs to be tied to the gold subscription IMO) bring us better game quality and maybe a bigger friends list

They have a new stat tracker feature on the xbox.com website, and it has a pie chart of the apps you've used on xbox. In the past 6 months it says I've only used Netflix....and it was once....for 2 minutes. I say, make better servers first, because that is what I'm willing to pay extra for.

They might as well make an app that just takes my money, and get it over with. I mean, the DS prints money, why can't the 360 suck it up like a broken vending machine that takes the bills but doesn't disperse any candy? Oh wait, it already does. *still complaining that I can't watch DBZ or Ninja Nonsense on Netflix*
