for all the people out there who are getting the ''Cant Decompress File'' message it may be due to ur computer preventing the extraction of the file PackageIO.dll try to turn off ur anti virus and it should solve the problem

If by infinite melee you mean durability, then yea it doesn't work. If you updated the patch it fixed Godmode, Infinite Durability and something else.

He doesn't mean the GPD that Original Boss posted, he means the button in Jappi's editor. I Hex edited mine to "BF 80 00 00" and after one swing, the weapon's durability completely decreases. You can then repair it like normal, however when I look at the weapons durability in a Hex editor, it still has the same bytes. I don't think there is any practical way to do this. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Well the last post I read from him said, that it would take a few days, but it's well worth the wait. A Whole new editor or something like that x] PLUS D: He won't give any spoliers D: Anyways, All i know 1.8 is going to be for a few days, and of course because this type of work is hard as hell. As for the durability I think he has. But I don't want to bring anyones hopes up so we'll just have to wait.

Thank you for this app mate, makes it so much more fun after youve already beat the game. To any new people downloading this to mod their game i HIGHLY RECCOMEND beating the game at least one time unmodded first otherwise it simply ruins it. Also to all of the users experiencing corrupt files even after being certain they did everything right, to fix the save all you have to do is resign the file again through Modio (i always reccomend clicking rehash and resign twice just to be safe). This error is a result of a flawed resigner within the program, its not a very good one. As a side note to who ever is making this program, can you look into anti-gravity mods? I just think that can be fairly fun.

it just keeps on getting getting better
like i mention earlier it always worked the first time i mod the save
made a new save from recent chapters and started collecting items first until i get the ones i need and an ak47
then mod all to just 999999 but still afraid to mod it a second time as it might freeze on the loading screen again

Can any HELP ME PLZ I edited my save when I started the game on act 1 I just completed the game last night but now I'm trying to start the second playthrough but it's freezes my whole system a few seconds into the loading screen. I tried a few times I even tried deleting the patch from my 360 amd putting all my items at 1 then reloading it but nothing still freezes at the loading screen. If any1 has and ideas or anything I could try plz and thank you!

P.S I made a backup of my game save when I reached the prison but I'm afraid of passing the game again and ending up with the same result of not being able to load the second playthrought

I'm assuming that you can still select the save and it doesn't show that it is corrupted. The freezing on the loading screen is actually a glitch in the game. Somehow the game auto save screws with the save regardless if you edit or not. So it probably has nothing to do with your editing.

sadly it is a glitchy ass game. I read on the forums that if you play it in single player it reduces the chances of the loading screen glitch.

i have the same problem but in reverse . my rifles and pistols dont show up . only shottys and magnum/colts . but i still am grateful for this . it is nice have in a billion rounds and health lol .

I would advise you read the whole thread, there's a lot of information. it seems like a lot but after a while you can tell who are the people that have something informative to add to the thread. One of the members noted that he found the addresses for weapon level, ammo and much more. TC has found a lot of information as well but there are some things that freeze the game.

All we can do now if wait for updates.

Ok, here is how I was able to turn my level 50 Sam B, which was purely accidental since I didnt want a level 50 just yet. I opened the save_0~ with a hex editor. I looked for my xp and changed it accordingly to a level 40(found on the list a few pages back) Also looked for 32(hex value for 50) right before where my xp was located and changed it to 28(40 hex value), Then I scrolled up and modified the level on the top of the file, right after "sam b" I mentioned it a while ago, but people said that was not needed to be modified. I believe, that if the save file thinks you are at a level 50 when it first loads that top info, like your save points, and what act you are. It completely bypasses your modified xp and modified level towards the bottom of the file. That's why people can level up with the save editor, but cannot level down. So, I do think both level points on the file should be modified.

i have tried reworking my inventory slots and even clearing my equipped items and still no dice. i also have a shock pistol that doesnt show up in the editor. and another thing i noticed is that when u edit the champagne meat and car parts they stay at 1 even though i check max.

You're tool doesn't work very well dude... It doesn't show half of the items that are in the game... You might want to work on that sometime ya know what I mean... I am looking forward to seeing what's new & stuff in the 1.8 version...

I do have to bring up that I did have my fists at level 50, but lost them when I downgraded to level 40. I could care less if it was with another character, but come on, its Sam Freakin B.

Wow, I'm extremely thankful for people who take the time to do this. I for one enjoy very much getting the most extreme and insane playtime out of my games and give epic thanks to anyone who helps to make that possible, long live 360haven, long live gaming, and most importantly, if you find yourself holding a brick of C4 with no zombies with which to stick it to, at least you still have highly explosive silly putty. I'd like to see Gumby top that. ^_^

Believe me I know I saw someone say you can use a hex editor and get it to go down but who knows maybe in 1.8 maybe Jappi made it possible

Something just started happening with 1.7 that's new. I searched but couldn't get a real solution. So here what I have happening. I needed more money ran the 1.7 did my thing but once transferring back to the USB/Memory card this came up:

Before that I did have an issue with the 1.7 not wanting to save and an error saying that the file was in use. Now I did turn off my antivirus and that stopped. Now when this STFS error comes up the file size is different as well. I had seen some discussion about this, but didn't follow as what to do. I booted up 1.6 and it worked fine. Now what I am using is Horizon to read my memory (pull and place files) then the 1.7 does everything else. I have been working with this since 1.2 I do understand a little how this works... But why this STFS now? Thanks!

I found out some neat info.

There is not only 2 bytes before the ammo that are used for gun specs. There are 4 bytes!!! Just when the Mod name ends it starts the gun specs bytes.

And I identified the LEVEL bits... and the Rarity bits.

Unfortunately, I couldn't identify a pattern on how the other bits change the specs.

Lets take only the last 2 bytes, where I found out something... as example....

11 93 = 0001 0001 1001 0011

THIS MEANS LEVEL... AND 0110010 = 50 (just convert it on any calculator)

THIS MEANS COLOR... AND 011 = 3 = PURPLE

THIS CHANGES DAMAGE(together with the other 2 bytes). But I couldn't figure out any pattern. Some times setting a bit lowers the damage, but most of the times it lowers it. I've got good results copying those bits from my machete... I have a 702(base) damage for my pistol.

Color:
000 - White (Guessed by info retrieved by OsamaGotRocked)
001 - Green (Guessed by info retrieved by OsamaGotRocked)
010 - Blue (Guessed by info retrieved by OsamaGotRocked)
011 - Purple (tested)
100 - Orange (tested)
101 - White (tested - why? - maybe some kind of weapons might give other results)
110 - Green (tested - why?)
111 - Blue (tested - why?)

Everything was tested on a Pride Heavy gun. But I think some weapons might give better results to analyse the damage bits.

Hope this info helps people to make the gun modding something great!

i'm working at the editor only in my free time, and do this for fun, because i like coding...
i dont care what other people are making, nor how good they are, if you think there is a better editor, then you should use it.

I am not sure what is causing the fists to disappear when modifying the XP but I just use the editor to make my Fists x3 and my fists stay in the game when I load it up. Even though it has a x3 under my fists, lol it is still a temporary solution.

probebly when you set your XP value to high...

i got a list witch has all the xp needed to require the level you want, and the fist will not dissapear.
i atached it to the editir, so you may choose how manny xp you want to require the needed level. without loosing your fist.

Dont know if anyone else is having this prob but i looked at the images of the editor the item names are in white but when i start up the editor they are black and it makes it very hard to see the names. anyone else have this prob?

That might be part of the problem for some people, but it isn't the whole thing. I tried setting my xp to 1,000,000 (level 39) and still lost my fists. Maybe because it wasn't the exact amount required for a level?

i'm olmost finished with V1.8 :) , i fixed a few items/ added a few items , the tool is recoded by me and feudalnate and totaly redesigned By Sephiroth :)

olso added Durabilty, witch will increase your durability, but wil not be infinite.

so i added another feuture, but need some testing firts.

hopefully the update will be released in a few hours.

Dear god, thank you jappi so much for that link. I finally got the save editor to work and now I don't have to download saves to survive solo. I was able to download the patch and get rid of that gpd so I can finally play online again. Thanks and great news about the update, can't wait! Oh yeah I was also wondering if you could add something that increases skill points but not the level, or rather or not you were working on it. I know many have said something or asked, but I was just curious if you were planning on putting it in the editor, that's what I wanted to know. If not, that's fine, but if so, that's awesome. You've already done quite a bit of work along with the others, and I for one am very grateful. Hopefully more will come, and I know it will! Thanks again Jappi and the others who helped, appreciate the work!

Well the last post I read from him said, that it would take a few days, but it's well worth the wait. A Whole new editor or something like that x] PLUS D: He won't give any spoliers D: Anyways, All i know 1.8 is going to be for a few days, and of course because this type of work is hard as hell. As for the durability I think he has. But I don't want to bring anyones hopes up so we'll just have to wait.

I can save my save now. apparently i cannot have the save in the same folder as the editor so i put my save on my desktop, opened it in the editor made my changes and then i was able to save.

.Net Framework 4.0 is required for this editor to function properly.

Click on the 4.0 if you didn't figure that out, and you need network 4.0 to run the editor, well I did, wouldn't start up without.

Also I want to point out to anyone, that when I tried to rehash and resign in modio after the save was complete it wouldn't work, since the editor did it already. Now I don't understand why this would happen, but just a tip for anyone that can't get it working and is trying everything else and knows what their doing. Again, don't rehash and resign in your modio, horizon, or w/e you use, editor does that already.

probebly when you set your XP value to high...

i got a list witch has all the xp needed to require the level you want, and the fist will not dissapear.
i atached it to the editir, so you may choose how manny xp you want to require the needed level. without loosing your fist.

Finally 1.8 is here, really great work Jappi and all who helped.

Couple of things I've noticed though is that the black text is very hard to read on that background. White text shows up great though. And when I did the "give more durability" all I noticed in-game was that at repair benches it shows my fists as an option and they're at 3,648%. My other melee weapons seemed unaffected.

But overall the editor looks amazing.

still having problems with reading the names in the list. here is what i see:2783 i havent tried it bc of this. i like the new look but the txt is even harder for me to read and the durability box is blacked out still. tried changing my theme but no dice.

The new gui is just like the first one you had. You can't see the names of each item, only a few. Also, the Give Durability corrupted my save so I guess it doesn't work for every save.

Ok, two things I've noticed: In the repair screen at a workbench my fists show up as 3648%, even though I haven't done anything (intentionally) to them and my suicider meat value became 2559720 (the one on list 2, it was 9999) without me editing it and I can't change it back. Changing your theme to "classic" does fix the text problem. Also I can't get ammo mods to work on any of my guns.

Btw I have like 1000 Oleanders in my backpack im trying to put them to only 5 but they still appear in my backpack ????
Im trying to erase them because i think thats my problem about corrupting my save more further :(

I plug my USB memory card like i have been since 1.2beta and pull my save off (with Horizion) apply that 1.8 save editor now but when I place the edited file back I still get the STFS error... Whats going on?

Well, just wanted to tell you that the increased durability worked for me. Every hit on a zombie takes 2% or 1% instead of the regular 7%+.

Switch your theme to CLASSIC and the text will turn white.

It's the durability % on the repair screen at a workbench, damage is unaffected.

lol, its not infinite items you know...

it only let you use your melee weopons longer.
olso it does not write the value to all items, but only to the melee weapons, the rest stays unaffected.

p.s redownload the tool, because the last Uploaded version should keep your fist intact.

my tool does not remove items... it only edits your amount , so if you change it to 0 , you will still have the item...

Infinite ammo is not something you could add, its a mod thats seperate from the save. Thats why it was a .gpd mod but it is now patched.
the only thing close to infinite ammo is 2147483647

thank you for the tip. i set my theme to classic. now i can see it clearly. i must have beem brain dead not to see something so obvious.

edit: scarecrow if your using win 7 like me right click on the screen and go to personalize. at the bottom it should say "basic and high contrast theme" i just picked classic and everything worked out great.

Okay not sure if anyone else has had the problem but this will happen if you do not close out the 1.7 or 1.8 save editor BEFORE trying to transfer the file back to the USB/Memory card. After you apply your values and save close the program, this will not happen. I hope this helps someone else... I just try to do to much at one sometimes...

Just to clear this up for anyone who's wondering; modding your level to 50, allocating the skill points, modding back down, then modding up again WILL NOT give you any more skill points. Before the editor was updated, I checked 'OSAMAGOTROCKED's thread with the XP chart and modded my level back down to try this. I found the hex for 50 which is '32' in the Hex editor and replaced it in two different locations with '28' (Level 40), as well as changed the Hex equivilant of 3,008,316 to the required XP for level 40. It worked and I modded back down to 40 but when I went back to 50, I had no more skill points.

This editor keeps getting better and better. One question though, will you be incorporating any weapon stat modding in later versions? I'd like to see that maybe sometime soon. If you want me to look further into the whole thing I'd be happy to do that later on tonight. In the meantime I've got some Gears to play but I'll definitely give that a shot later.

not yet. mine locked up at the prison. so i just went back to my other save. and went through the whole prison level in one go. now when i try to start a new game with my current player. it locks up. here is my game save. this has new game + unlocked. which locks up when i start it.

Problems with newest update:
Bad grammar in many places + can't read a lot of the text on any of the pages.

well at the workbench it shows a list of weapons you can repair. one of those is my fists which you cannot repair. not sure why the 3648% is there. is the durability button supposed to give your fists more durability or any weapon? also my medkit wont change after using 1 medkit. it stays at the number i modded it to.

How can we get this % fixed on our fists?

aww man lol the chainsaw runs out of gass regardless of infinite durability :P nice try though plus the weapons get mad weak wen they are at break point

thank you very much for all of the hard work that all of you invested jappi88. the progression of change since 1.2 is really amazing!

you have to change your pc theme to classic. in order to read the text.
we still shouldn't have to do that since jappi88 did fix that in 1.7, but it looks as if the font is again blended with the back of background again. still we can refer to the pictures for the name of the values instead of changing the theme.

I would like to make a note that may be related to the save editor; and wondering if anyone else has run into the same issues.

my first character I edited the EXP once into my 40's to 50 played finished but could never reload the file. (The screen would always freeze)
now my second character through the game I used the items that we had maxed out and repeatable quest (1000 exp) to get myself to 50

Here is the problem, In the last chapter, if I die or the game is over the file Doesn't load anymore! No New Game plus! Just a locked up load screen!
I have tried this on multiple system with the same result, I am wondering if this is because of outrageous values that we have maxed out in our inventory.
Perhaps the system is calculating something for the newgame+ that lock these saves? Can someone check this, Thanks

Small bug report:

When I click "max" next to Oleander the number doesn't change. You have to manually enter the number you want. No big deal but thought I would report

Awesome Job Jappi quick suggestion for 1.9 the text font for items in black makes it hard to see in 1.8 can it be made white thanks

Oh my god, I've went through like the past 10 pages and I keep seeing, "I can't see the text, change the text, blah blah blah text." Don't change the GUI jappi, it's perfect... now for all of you people that don't read past posts, CHANGE YOUR THEME TO CLASSIC IF YOU CAN'T READ THE TEXT!

I don't understand... is it that hard? I mean I really don't want to come off as an ass here, but I just don't know how else to put it so everyone can understand. Also, love the new editor jappi, again, appreciate all the work you and everyone else is putting into this, it's awesomeness. Oh by the way..

Now I know you might be thinking I'm talking shiznit here, but someone DID post a save on modio that was level 50, and had ALL the skills maxed out. How? you ask, I don't know, I have no frickin' idea... BUT. it's there. I will try to find it, honestly, but I found it by mistake just messing with the saves. I will tell you this, it was a level 50 sam b save, with really good weapons and lots of items, but that's about all I remember besides all skills being maxed out.. Maybe you can check it out jappi? Don't know if it will do you any good, and I'm not pushing the max skill points like some people, but just thought I'd throw 'er out there for ya. Again sorry I didn't post the save, but I honestly can't remember which it was, lol.

Also, just wanted to point out that I didn't mean to come off as an ass on this post for the people that can't read the text, but I just wanted those that can't see it, to be able to, because I had the same prob until I changed mine. Jappi can't help it for now, as he has said, so we'll just have to bear with it, thank you.. :)

after the 2nd update done that added grenades it no longer corrupts my game saves but i dont think the item durability works

Testing durability now what is suposse to happen do the numbers on the items change or do u have to observe?
Edit no numbers change going to see if the weapon degrades
Edit2- my katana weapon has 29+29 and it degrades the same ammount everytime for my other katana that has 50+49 so jappi i think it worked

you should keep using it until you loose your weapon.

the durability should drop, but you wont loose the weapon, atleast, thats how it should be.

Edit i did not lose the weapon but i am going to see if damage is still there
Edit 2 the damage drop from 4000 to 500-700 so the durability works but not effiently

It will just do crap damage. Which I have noticed is still the case with modding it to have more durability.

it actually does, cause i am running that and it worked for me, the only problem i had was the text is black not white, for some reason, so it is very hard to read over the dark background

My meat and Engine parts doesn't mod to MAX but I am in no position to complain. This tool is freakin' awesome and is only in the process of being completed, it's only going to improve, for now, just deal with the problems until they are fixed. Look how long it took for them to update to 1.8, not long at all. But, on a side note, I have dropped many things from my Misc. Section and no freeze, it drops one at a time. have you modded your weapons to like 99999999? Because you really shouldn't. You can safely mod your gun clip on each to that and any Misc items, and Med Kits, Molotovs, things of the sorts, never mod Melee weapons to 9999999.

it dont work for me as well, using the same windows. doesnt even open, but it dont matter, it works on my desktop so. desktop is not windows 7 though.

I'm anxious to see what you've discovered as far as modding weapon stats. I'm able to sometimes double the damage on my weapons and get an orange rarity out of them, but I can't find any consistency. I just change the bytes before amount to match another weapons info.

I second this. The guy who makes this is truly a great man. The Melee durability thing, didn't appear to work very well for me, although, I just repair my weapons on the fly, I can't stand my bar being low on durability, would be amazing if you could somehow make it stick at full strength durability, no bar movement. But do keep up the good work.

Also, if anyone is using this before actually completing the game, you're ruining a fantastic experience in my eyes. I only scout for mods on games once I have completed them, especially Dead Island, fantasticly awesome playthrough and now even more fun to start again with mods. Thanks to the OC.
