Honestly I haven't played the co-op much yet because my buddy hasen't been on a lot. Aside from that, modding has made the game's fun factor increase tenfold for me.

I don't have that much friends to play it with because one of my friends is a total d*** he telling everyone that the game play sucks s*** and finding the worse reviews out there to help reinforce his point and the funny thing is he hasn't played the game. He said, "Get Gears of War 3 don't waste your money on Gay Island. Left 4 Dead is better than that."

Then when he figured out there were some human alive he called it "Alive Island"

You wait till you have to defend Ope or whatever the chiefs name is all by yourself... fail smells like that.
Other then that its pretty damn good, but theres no incentive to level up (like you have a choice) since all the skills provide no help whatsoever against the ever increasing power of the horde.

I imagine in multiplayer where all the buffs are stacking its ok but in singleplayer, prepare your ass for a pounding.
Also, don't pick the gun specialist, guns suck against zombies and her skills are useless alone.

It shouldn't have skipped beta testing because as of right now, joining any random coop matches is nearly impossible.
Apart from the flaws of rushed release it's a great game with awesome melee combat, it's just a shame that the guns are nearly worthless long term.

it's a great idea but so far all the glitches like invisible fire and crashes are already making me think of getting rid of it. the zombies can be too strong when in single player and can even be troublesome in co op some of the rams and thugs kill you in 1 hit no matter what, if they had set specific levels for differrent types of zombies at different stages of the game it would have been better instead of the rubberband system they have.

At first I thought bah another Zombie game, I personally hated L4D and L4D2, yea I have them both, i beat them, but they both got boring very fast.

So after actually playing this game, what do I think? Nothing but about this game 24/7. All I want to do is play it more!

Freaking beast zombie game I ever played, and the open world thing is freaking epic.

Not sure if this game was rushed or what, but their is a lot of bugs, glitches, and even a dupe =.=

Developers didn't test it very hard. All it would taken is one hour testing to find tons of problems.

Overall beast game, i'd recommend this to anyone.

Yep, looked down and kicked the ball which glitched out under me and sent my character hurtling about a mile across the map and about 100 feet up in the air. I quite like how you just get up with a bit less cash after you die though, far better than trudging back through the game again from a set checkpoint.

I'm using Jtag rip so been playing with the mods and dev menu, cant get enough of the super charged force push!

My douche friend is going to be pissed that he was wrong about this game. (NOTE: He tries to be a smart-ass.) He said that the game was going to crash into the dirt burying itself in to the top 100 worst game list.

What you heard is right. My friend went to his local game store and no copies all sold out. Has to wait til this Tues. to get a new copy. Then I'll at least have some friends to help out and stuff.

Like in the sewer area for instance Ive lost track of how many times I have fallen through the map then died then lost like 10% of my money and that brings me to another thing that makes me mad is the dumb losing money when you die is so annoying especially if you carry a lot of money around. I agree with this heavily, the game is fantastic in my opinion. It has just the right amount of immersion for me, a ton of easter eggs which I love and a nicely done skill tree system.
Each character gives their own unique feel and by mid-game I am already starting to see just how deadly Xian can be. However this game needs to be patched up and patched up right, not a half-ass attempt.
Gamebreaking save glitch, beach ball death, door glitches, vanishing weapons, quicksand steps, etc.

I third that notion. I think this is the zombie game I've been waiting for ever since I was a little disappointed with Dead Rising 2. That being said, It needs some serious alteration and fixes. I only just started yesterday and I had zombies spawning on my face, and graphics that never quite loaded, regardless of how close I got to them. But I think in massive games like this, (same with skyrim no doubt when it gets released) there's always a massive amount of kinks to work out. Makes you wonder what the testers played. :P

This game is great. I like how it has elements of Dead Rising 2, Borderlands and Left 4 Dead. If you play far enough with each character one of the 4 characters back story is totally fake.

The game overall, is great, and it has great elements to it, However it's buggy as hell, When i played it with a friend, first thing we did was explore, and ignore the quests as we were waiting for another friend to get his copy, So we found a vehicle, I started to drive, and managed to crash between 2 surf boards, 5 seconds after it had launched in the air, and i fell to my death, There are also some BSP that are not stable, I have constantly fallen through the map, and drowned on various occasions.

I'm not a big fan of the GPS tracking system either, It's really buggy, At times it's told me to walk through a solid mountain...Not to mention it disappears a lot.


Not a big fan of the lighting, or Dynamic effects, But sure i like the game.. It's a bit of a pain when a quest numerously bugs and the waypoint tells you to go to this place, and it's locked up...cause it's bugged.

I also wasn't a really big fan of the ending, it kinda sucked =/

I think the game is conceptually outstanding and well thought out, but swimming through the sea of bugs and glitches frustrates me to no end. I know it's an old song by now, but the release-now, patch-later approach to game development and publishing is ridiculous and should be ridiculed and criticized at every turn. That being said, yes the game is great and I eagerly await the patch(es) that ensure that the game realizes its full potential.

The game as far as a zombie game I think is way better then any other. I agree with the level scaling, some of the enemies are a little tougher when it comes to the leveling being equal with the players. The weapons are realistic as far as look at where the player is, but I do agree the weapons could have used a little more work. The other thing was the weapon condition, I think they could have worked a little more on that too. The skill tree is the last thing I wish they would have put more thought into. Borderlands and an awesome skill tree. All in all if your reading this and not sure if you want to buy it, here's what I say. If you liked left for dead or any of those other zombie survival games then you will like this one for sure. If your not sure about the zombie games but you like RPG, you'll like this. I'd say its a safe but and after all we all just need something to play until November. Then we will ALL be playing Skyrim. HAHA

I like it. I haven't beat it yet because of all the bugs, manly I was on chapter 7 and saved up after my friend and I were done. when I started up the game my save was corrupted so i couldn't continue. When they get some of the major game breaking bug fixed, I will start over and beat it a few times with my buddys :)

id like to make an observation, it seems more and more developers rely on the consumers to find bugs instead of refining the game before the release.

I think its largerly due to the fact that the publishers tell public that the game shall be released on such and such date which in turn puts pressure on the developers to get things done in a timely manner, when in fact they shoud give a release date when they are at least 3/4 of the way trough production instead of giving a release date straight off the bat.

Pushing release dates back is costly and time consuming, that being said i feel dead island is an awesome game but i feel it was rushed out the door to quickley, for example i would mod a bat with the torch mod and it wouldnt show up in my inventory but i spent the recources and the money producing said weapon and that was very frustrating.

Dead island is over all and awesome game and im looking forward to possible DLC and updates to keep the game fresh and exiting

Actually i think it's a cool game, i like the zombies and RPG elements it's kind of original, also the cooperative mode is really fun and if you want to explore the whole island it will take you some time and a lot of zombie killing to achieve :)

For those of us who still like LAN-type games with IRL friends, it's great. So few 4-player co-op, let alone system linkable games out there. Like Borderlands, the more people playing with you, the better. No split screen, sadly (for those REALLY cheap friends).

A few considerations: it's a bit buggy/unpolished still; some enemy types/areas are very tedious if played alone (FOV, swarmed, etc). Loot rarity and locked chests seem to be a bit turd-skewed, but it's not game breaking.

Goes without saying in a zombie game: Don't expect everything to make sense. You might think your reach with a katana would be more than the Thugs Falcon Punch, but they are tall after all... That fire-axe designed to chop down walls, doors, and friggin roofs all day long? Surprisingly not that durable on gooey zombie flesh...

Overall impression: it’s a co-op buddy game in a zombie apocalypse. Meaning the fun of playing with your buddies will outweigh its flaws if that’s your thing.

I think dead island is awesome. I love the fact that its 4 player co op. Nothing like running around with friends and killing some zombies. I dont know of any of these glitches. I havent really encountered any of them. One problem I do have is after I clear an area and I start to run around picking up items and searching for component someone spawns in randomly with a gun and kills me and my friends. Fun game though we spend a lot of time on it.

I'm not trying to make light of the ordeals people are going through, but I just have to say this:
I forgot about the game coming out completely and I pre-ordered Dead Island the Night of it's release (from Game-Stop cause they had a midnight event going on) and was the first one to get it at that store and was playing it 5-10 minutes before midnight. I guess I got lucky, since I decided to stay at game-stop for 2 1/2 hours waiting for it (they normally close at 9pm in Oklahoma).
Even with the glitches, and not getting the pre-order "Ripper" I still give this game an 8 out 10... Because so far its the best looking & (somewhat) realistic zombie survival RPG.
I love Zombies & RPG's and after the glitches are fixed and some more DLC is available I believe this will take the win...
I've also been blessed not to been plagued with the glitches except, I lost 3 white Items because of full inventory when taking the items out of storage...

this game is ok. its kinda obvious why they rushed this game. there are so many good games out there that are being released and techland want to release this game as soon as possible. even with all the bugs they probably think to themselves "don't worry about the bugs just release the game, at least that way we get there money and say were working on the bugs" lol . as for modding. although i find increasing your inventory item helpful in times but i rather have my fist do a ton of dmg. i don't even bother going from 1-50 on my 2nd playthrough because i try to beat the game as low level as possible. i don't want zombies to be strong. i hate the fact that there level scale with yours.

edit: btw if i could stay level one i would lol. nothing satisfying than beating a game when you don't level at all haha.

What are these glitches I keep hearing about? I'm on my second play through and I haven't seen anything. Maybe I just didn't notice them but I'd still like to know.

Ive now completed the game and loved it. I would have liked to have seen more rpg elements in the game but thats just me. I thought at times, even though I had fully upgraded my weapons, they just weren't powerful enough. I have started playing the game again and to my delight, I still have my weapons from my first play through. There is definitely scope in a sequel.

I agree with you Dead Island is a fun zombie slaying game with that of RPG element to make you want to come back to and it doesn't get old because the zombies level with you.

its got a cool angle and could become quite a cool concept in all types of games , but it fits the zombie theme well , all though the leveling system could be better ,and multiplayer and
modding an editing can be real fun!

Dead island is just an awesome game i personally love it, it could use a couple of fixes here n there but all around an awesome game :D

Have yet to buy it. Still kind of on the fence about it, especially with Borderlands 2 about a month away. Sounds like an interesting game but only if you have people to Co-Op it with.
Also heard the Story is mehh.

Too awesome. hahaha We should co-op borderlands. I can always use more people who are going to get it.
