This is it -- the moment Final Fantasy XIII (http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii) fans have been waiting for.
The announcement of a potential announcement for the third series installment, Final Fantasy XIII-3, in the form of a domain-name registration months before XIII-2 (http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii-2) is even released. Please, contain your excitement. Corporation Service Company registered finalfantasyxiii-3.com (http://whois.domaintools.com/finalfantasyxiii-3.com) on September 7; Square Enix has previously used CSC to register its domains and this fits Square's modus operandi (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/13/final-fantasy-xiii-2-domain-name-registered/).
XIII-3 hasn't yet been officially announced, but XIII-2 is expected to drop in January 2012.

Wow that is a good tid-bit of news. I am a huge fan of the series and have yet to have any disappointment in any game (except the online versions). I like how Squaresoft is willing to try new things with each new release of FF games. Thanks again for the tid-bit!

Actually development for 13 - 2 is closer to finished than you think. Square is known for being very tedious. Remember the engine is already done since its running off the same as 13.

Thats well over half the work done, so it aint a stretch to say XIII-2 is nearly if not already complete.
Though I say they may be getting ahead of themselves, incase XIII-2 turns out to be hated, though I guess the opposite is true if it is successful they are already on the ball.

They are getting way ahead of themselves. What happens if the X2 fails?
