I took the beta file that was uploaded 2 days ago, and I beat the game on the file. I have collected armour and other items that where not originally on the file. It is now on New Game+. Hope this helps with items ids. Would look them up myself but not sure how so here is the save game. 3544
Also, I see there is a new beta save. What is different?
At the start if the game.
Names changed stats changed.
All Armors parts upgraded (not 100% sure havent been to the last black smith yet)
All weapons we have listed upgrade to +5
What needs to be done:
Need to add in more Items.
Need to add in all spells
Need to add in all Key Items
Need to make and upgrade of every weapon type.
No need to post saves just ids

ok i found out how to enable all warp bonfires. works even on fresh chars which have only seen the 1st bonfire. but beware! for example the princess bonfire in anor londo or the abyss are boss rooms. if you move around there you will trigger the boss fight.
how to do it:
1) you have to give yourself the lordvessel. replace an existing key or better, add this key and increase the key count
2) set address 0x0001F13E in USER_DATA to FF

start warping with your lvl 3/4

Yeah change the lvl in the con or user data and fix the checksum then resign/rehash.
While I was at work I figured out I had a blonde moment this morning. I dont need anyone help online duping weapons. All I have to do its copy all the weapon data and place all the weapon in he bottomless box and then replace the empty weapons with all I have and then take all out and copy that data. Then place it all back in and replace the data and I'll have 8 sets of all the weapons we have. Then do it again for 12. It will be fast then waiting to for u guys to drop the soap...:-r
I have 2 questions.
1.) Does the structure now work on the Draks0005 Con now?
2.) Would it be possible to open the beta Draks0005 or UserData in the Hex Editor extract the coding that has all the weapons/items/spells/etc and place them in our profile?

1. Idk turks will have to answer that. The save in the beta is the save file that I have used since day one. I've never had it go corrupted after play a while. So if u want u should replace ur user data and u can extract any time without worry. Then replace the weapons/items/spells/etc.:-c

I meant extracting the coding lines for the weapons/items/spells/etc. Like copying all the lines for the items from the Beta file and pasting it on another character in another profile completely.

if it werent for the data blocks that can pop up in the middle of of the save then it would work on the con. Pretty much just extract, edit, resign, copy and paste into con is the best way for now.

turk64 Structures Veiw 2nd post has the offsets. use an online RBG chart to find the color u want. If u want it to glow increase the values.

You should try to change both arrows and bolts (both put a different pouch on you back). You should change both to something big, like the Washing Pole katana :)

I thought only the currently equiped arrow was visible.

Depends on what character save you want to mod. Odds are it will just be User_Data, the others are for the 2nd, 3rd character and so on.

I thought only the currently equiped arrow was visible.
Ya the arrows are the quiver, and the bolts are a little square pouch that sits on top of your quiver, I changed the bolts to the washing pole, but the weapon was upside down and looked weird because the hilt was at my waist so there was a katana sticking out pretty far and it didn't have a sheath :(

USER_DATA Offsets 0x00000303 to 0x00000311 store the amount of items you have given to the covenants. if you max it out or make it 0x50 (80 dec) you will receive the highest covenant rank +3. covenant items are only given to you when you just joined the covenant at the related NPC or for higher ranks -> donate 1 item just before the next rank up (at 9 items, 29 and 79 items).
rank 1 = 10 items
rank 2 = 30
rank 3 = 80

I'm not sure how to copy all of the items from the BETA DRAKS0005 to my (lvl 1 new game) DRAKS0005 file.
I've mastered exchanging items for other items, but I can't seem to get them all at one go.
Is it not possible? Or should I try placing my character from my DRAKS0005 file onto the BETA DRAKS0005, instead of placing the items from the BETA to my file?
I was hoping I could figure it out without posting, but I'm not making any progress with just guessing. I'm fairly new at this, and I didn't wanna look silly asking the pros. XD
Can anyone help? :)

You forget that the wiki was started before the game released and some names are loosely based on japanese translation.

Can anyone help? :) Yes you can move all of them form one user date file to another. That is what I did to make the save a the start of the game. I didn't copy over the game flag area. Just the keys, key item, weapon etc..

Fixing checksum of USER_DATA:
1. Make desired changes to file in Hex Workshop
2. Highlight everything except the last 16 sets of characters
3. Click Tools -> Generate Checksum
4. Make sure the settings are at MD5(128 bit) & Selection only
5. Look in bottom right corner for the result, right-click & copy
6. Paste into the last part of the file you didn't highlight
Done. All you need to do then is to use Horizon to replace the USER_DATA file in the save with this new modded one.
Edit: If that's not enough do a quick google search and there is even a picture posted by 8Ball. .

Is it common to consistently get "STFS: Invalid number of free blocks detected while allocating blocks", while replacing the USER_DATA file back onto the DRAKS0005 file?
This only happens after the 3rd or 4th time I mod a saved game.
The save is playable, but I'm not sure I can mod it anymore. Any idea why? Anyone?

Keep hold of that modded file and make a fresh save by starting a new game and letting it autosave in the dungeon cell.
You can then replace the USER_DATA file from that instead.

Here's a weird one and I am wondering if anyone noticed it yet. Any save I have that Horizon touches can not be opened by Modio ever again, but horizon can open any save I have. If I want to use it again I have to extract the files with Horizon and then inject them into a new save with Modio. Kind of weird and it makes me wonder if Horizon has something to do with some of the corruption problems people have been having. I never noticed the problem because I was using Modio for everything until I tried to use the beta save from the first page of this thread. Only Horizon will open it for me.
Anyway, just an FYI. I used the beta save and copied all the items into my own save (Great job on getting all those item Id's guys!) and I just wanted to let you know the Dragon Arrows and the Dragon Tooth in the beta save do not have a name for some reason. The Tooth still works, but the Arrows don't.

Really? I've done it to make the beta saves and I've done it every time i've modded something. I've never had a problem and only have the save file corrupt when I turn the xbox off without quitting the game. If it fails to load I take out the USER_DATA and place it back into a working 8.40mb save file.
On a good note I have

Only Crystal +5 and Lightning +5 left to do. I got to get to the blacksmith. I just did the Enchanted+ 5, Fire +10 and Chaos +5 today. To rest of the day I kinda got drunk and its taking me along time to type this.:bigsmile2:

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I've replaced USER_DATA files on different saves dozens of times now and haven't had a single corruption yet. How else are you supposed to get them back on to the Xbox when you've hex edited them exactly?

Trust me your save will corrupt (that's what most of the previous pages were about). Read the first post and look at my guide on how to manually hex the save. If you don't want to take my word on it then don't complain when your save corrupts.

I have an easier way.I found it yesterday,after trying it for the hell of it.Mod the CON file,(don't extract USER_DATA) then load it up in "Dark Souls Beta 1.2.0.0" http://www.360haven.com/forums/showthread.php?6739-RELEASE-Snuggly-the-Barter-Dark-Souls-Savegame-Editor (bottom of 2nd post) and click save,it works anywhere,anytime.Now I have a question.Why,when I swapped large arrows,for poison arrows,it is listed in the game as poison,but they are not.

I have to agree with Idle. If you change the filesize in any way it will eventually corrupt. So far none of the programs I have used will replace the User_data back in the con without changing the filesize. Now injecting the User_data into the con will not change filesize sometimes but for some reason it still corrupts at some point. Also do not exit the game using exit to dashboard or just cutting xbox off. Only safest possible way without any corruption is editing the User_data inside the con and resign/rehashing with hash block calc. Concept might work also have not tried it. Since Idlehands88 posted his method I have not had any corruptions ever and have edited my save over 50 times. All other methods I tried have at some point ended in corrupt saves.

That's not possable. :P spells and arrows are two different things. Spells have the 40000000 prefix while arrows have the 00000000 prefix. :P dont forget to use the right one

Now that's dedication lol, On a side note my save's have been under 5mb's the entire time I've been playing them and I have yet to get a corruption or failed to load by replacing the User Data.

Thanks to everyone on here, especially Magnus, Turk, and Idle, I was able to successfully make my own personal Starter Save. Idle is right, the safest and best way to do this is to NOT try and inject a modded User_Data into a CON. You are asking for trouble. It may not happen right away, but it will corrupt eventually.
While the beta save Magnus posted is absolutely AWESOME (and I can't wait to see the final version), I wanted a starter save that didn't have every ring, weapon, armor, soul, and key, but that had max stats (lower health/stamina than Magnus save - 5000 each), multiple copies of powerful spells/pyromancy, 99 of every consumable/upgrade item, and a few good upgraded weapons/armor.
So, I started a new game, got to the bonfire after the tutorial, and used that save as my base. I then extracted the User_Data and simultaneously modded it AND the DRAK0005 file. You could also mod the User_data and then paste your modded stuff into the DRAK0005 file but I find it easier to just mod them side by side. Used User_Data to generate new checksum, pasted into DRAK0005, and rehashed/resigned with Horizon. Save stays at ~8.23 MB and loads perfectly.
I used Magnus' save as a template for the proper sequence of inventory location IDs since my initial save only had a few items.
I think I'm done modding Dark Souls saves for awhile. I've got about 4-5 different saves at different points in the game. LOL Time to play through and finish the game with this new save. :-c

When copying the line data for weapons/items/spells/etc. Do I just paste them where my inventory ends or do I paste them over something. I've been having problems with that part.

Ok so I have swapped items/weapons and everything else with success, however I tried giving myself the embers for weapon upgrades (IE. Very large ember, divine ember and so on) When I do this the items show in my inventory but when I got to the black smith who requires those items he will not take them. Has anyone else came across this problem?
Do I need to give them to myself 1 at a time and then take them to the black smith? Any helped would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but it seems as though the black knight weapons cause your saves to corrupt. Am I the only one having this problem? I was trying to add a black knight greataxe and using the id code from here, it always corrupts. I tried it with the greatsword with the same result. Perhaps someone could try it and see if it works for them. Thanks.

I believe that there is a flag that needs to be set for the embers, much like you can give yourself the Lordvessel but not be able to warp. Going to have to diff a file before and after picking up one to see what the flag is, unless someone already has it.
On another note, thanks Turk for the structure file. Made things worlds easier once I figured out how to use it. No idea what I was doing wrong before (only had about a 10% success rate) but I managed to fix lots of stuff now the first time I tried with the structure.

Here's the problem, when you swap in something like an ember, you need to be swapping it for a key item. The key items are in a "slightly" different block of the file. If you've swapped an ember out for.. some firebombs or something, you'll have it in your inventory, but as far as triggering the blacksmith upgrade events - it won't work. Just pull up the IDs for your Asylum/intro keys, and replace those with embers. If you've already managed to figure out swapping in general, it should work like a charm.
Edit:
I'm not positive, but I think the multiple IDs we have for the same item (usually Demon-soul ascended items) may just be all the possible +10 items that the Boss-weapons can come from. The Chaos blade would have three for instance (Iaito, Washing Pole, and Uchigatana being the only katanas you could make it with). Otherwise, the game would have no way of knowing what item to degrade the ascended item into. Example, I make the Greatshield of Artorias with a cracked shield, and find the ID, presumably that same ID will allow whoever enters it in their game to break it down to that weapon/shield specifically.
As a side note that no one probably cares about, I was a bit confused why certain shields seemed to be so far out of order hex-wise compared to other shields (Blood Shield, Sanctus, etc. are nowhere near the other ones in sequence). Then it dawned on me, those were the shield design contest winners, they were added much much later.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but it seems as though the black knight weapons cause your saves to corrupt. Am I the only one having this problem? I was trying to add a black knight greataxe and using the id code from here, it always corrupts. I tried it with the greatsword with the same result. Perhaps someone could try it and see if it works for them. Thanks.
I tried most of the Black Knight weapons and they haven't corrupted my save. Did you change anything else?

I've ran into a little snag. I copied the item section from the Beta Save and place it in my save. It worked for the key items without a problem. But, when I try it for the weapons & other things I noticed that it's bigger than the section in my save. I paste it in anyways and load it in a new save because when I load it in my save it shows up as, "An invalid number of blocks." But, when I load it into a new save it works fine up until it begins loading then it freezes. Just wondering if anyone else had freezing problems doing this?

I've ran into a little snag. I copied the item section from the Beta Save and place it in my save. It worked for the key items without a problem. But, when I try it for the weapons & other things I noticed that it's bigger than the section in my save. I paste it in anyways and load it in a new save because when I load it in my save it shows up as, "An invalid number of blocks." But, when I load it into a new save it works fine up until it begins loading then it freezes. Just wondering if anyone else had freezing problems doing this?
Nevermind about this I figured what I was doing wrong. I was pasting over items already in my inventory instead of pasting in the null item zone. But now my characters face is messed up. It looked like some green glob monster. Can anyone help me fix this?

Thought id cough up an update, the last program i was working on I've binned for several reasons.
I do have an almost complete new app designed to speed up the process selecting an id, what the app currently does is offer you every ID we have in a series of comboboxs, you simply select the item your after and it will add its ID to your clipboard to do whatever with.
The point being you can use it hand in hand with hex workshop to select an item you know you have so you can look for it in the save, then selecting a new id to swap it with.
About as useful as a calculator really, i also added the ability to directly alter the database file that comes with it for those of us who are collecting ids and such.
One slight snag is the new format on page 1, since those ids aren't technically complete i need to manually fix them like a jackass adding the key part of the id to every single value, some of which don't seem to be labeled? I could streamline this but the list is baffling from a quick glance.
I could throw in some utilities like hex calculator to help with looking for new items and whatnot for the hell of it, not exactly hard to do.

Trust me your save will corrupt (that's what most of the previous pages were about). Read the first post and look at my guide on how to manually hex the save. If you don't want to take my word on it then don't complain when your save corrupts.

This is the method I've used and it has maintained the file size and seems to keep the integrity of the file as well *knock on wood*. it's pretty much a combination of methods listed throughout this thread:

2) use Modio or Horizon to extract the USER_DATA to a safe place on your computer.
3) copy both files to a different folder (maybe call it 'modified' or something).
4) open both copied files, from modified folder in step 3, in HexWorkshop.
5) open the bookmarks in your USER_DATA (not sure where that file is anymore, but i'm sure it's somewhere listed either in this thread or the save editor thread)
6) at the end of your USER_DATA file, copy your checksum value.
7) in your DRAKS0005 file, search for your checksum (hex value) and bookmark it.
8) still DRAK file, search now for your player name but with 'Text String', 'Unicode', and 'Up' direction from your checksum you've just matched/found; bookmark your name.
-all your inventory items are between your name, which you now have bookmarked, and your checksum, which you have bookmarked as well.
9) find and edit items as you please in your USER_DATA file BUT do so one at a time as you will be doing the exact same operation on the DRAK file as well...but only between the name and checksum bookmarks. i.e. you find 400000000000046a (twinkling titanite) in USER_DATA and edit the quantity; you will then search for 400000000000046a in your DRAK file, but only in the addresses between your bookmarked name and your bookmarked checksum.

w/ regards to the 8 vs 4MB saves, i have reproduced that successfully with every hash with horizon; I have found it not to be random whatsoever. I have not yet found the game's autosave function to save a 4-5MB file; all have been consistently in the 8MB range. On a similar note, unless I have missed it, I believe that everyone that has a missing USER_DATA file is using a smaller save file, i.e. the 4-5MB save, rather than a file of the full save size.

ok So I've done some tinkering around with all this. And found that it's pretty easy to alter you're items if you are on a brand new character.
Where I got lost is... Once you have (I assume) the bottomless box, shit gets more complex. I think at least, I don't know what is causing this and if someone else has run in to the same problem let me know. But I open both user_data and the main save in hex workshop, I get the checksum and everything, the same way I did it early in the game. Then I copy it over to the main save after editing. Change the checksum in main save rehash and resign using modio, load it back on to my 360, log in to the game, I get NO errors at all. Let's me log in fine, no corruption, but the changes I made do nothing. Nothing I edited is there. It used to work, now nothing happens. I found 2 instances of my 70+ chainmail helms in the main save file, I have tried editing both, never any corruption, but never any changes. Also, if I bring the save back my computer, and open with modio, and examin the user_data, it doesn't have any of the modified hex I put in. I am SO confused as to how I could be changing anything, but not corrupting the save or getting any errors, and nothing in the game changes, and it appears to also not change in the user_data. Why did it work for so long and now decide to just stop... I honestly am at a complete loss. Anyone experience this? Maybe point me in the right direction? I am not new to hex editing or anything so you don't need to baby me here, just help me figure out what changes.

This is so weird that I don't even want to try and give you an answer because there is no way I could be right. It really sounds like you are putting the wrong save back on your memory card, but that would just be too simple of an answer. There is no way I know of for changes to just disappear from the file and still have everything work. It has to be operator error.
The only other thing I can think of is you are copying your changes to the wrong area of the save (but you should still be able to find the edits you made when you check it again). If you are in the wrong section of the save the items might not show up in the game. Try changing an item to something you do NOT have yet and see if your character has the item in game (check your bottomless box too). If not, check your save again to see if you can find where you made the change. Since you did not have the item to begin with you should be able to easily find it again in your save. Do it with only one item and it will make it easier to see if you are just missing something or if your save is somehow magically fixing itself.
One last obvious thought. Make sure you are loading the save from the right spot. You may be loading from your HDD and the save you edited is on a memory stick.
I am sure you already thought of the things I mentioned, so sorry for the obvious answers.
@mk_ln - Thank you for the info. I never thought to bookmark my checksum first and use it to figure out which name is the correct one in my main save. I gave up on trying to edit the main save a long time ago because I was never 100% sure which name was correct.

I totally thought that maybe I was putting the unedited file back on to the memory stick which would have explained everything and I probably would have slapped myself. But that's not the case, I did this about 5 times and made sure every time.
I am turning chain helms in to items I don't already have so that base is covered. And every time, The items are neither in my bottomless box, or inventory.

I am completely baffled, I really am. The changes disapear, and it doesn't matter what section of the con I edit the load works fine, no errors, no corruption, but also no changes. I mean believe me I'm not really new to this kind of work, I totally thought of what you mentioned. It just seems like at some point in the game, it ceased letting me change anything, but kept on working too. I am so confused.

Ah, I must have misread IdleHands when he said to copy and paste everything, I think I just do what you have listed. I will have to try out your hash program as well. Horizon has worked well, but I keep finding that after a few hours, my userdata keeps disappearing.

Yes. I figured it out after several tries and after reading some hints from someone involved in this topic, unfortunately I can't be arsed to look for it now so just props to that guy/girl =]
Anyways, in the Key field you insert the key id which you have in your inventory and want to be replaced with this new item of your choosing. Relax, the key will not vanish it's just a way to add items. In the item id field you insert the id of the item you want to get, also its ammount. So it would be like this for getting Titanite Chunk x99 in exchange for Residence Key
Key: 40000000000007E5
ID: 00000406
Ammount: 99
You hit save, wait, upload to the pendrive and you're done. For some weird reason the save will corrupt if you exchange for certain items. I don't know what is the link between them all but my guess would be the accessibility of certain items in the game. The way I think this works is that you can only get 3 Titanite Slabs per playthrough, at least that's what I've heard, and getting more than that results in a corrupted save. Same goes for Demon Titanite and coloured Titanite Slabs but I only get this conclusion by the fact that I was unable to get 99x of these items by adding them in the editor. Each save resulted in corruption.
Also, my save just got the 'won't save ever again' bug :< I have to revert to previous save it seems, I hope it'll work and it has only glitched like an edit or two ago, not twelve :x

Evening all, please have a play about with this alpha (kinda) build of the app i wouldve finished if i wasn't so godamn lazy.
The point again, is to provide assistance in copying ids by slecting an id and the id will be copied to your clipboard for immediate pasting, as loyal as a calculator with half the features of one.
The ids are the ones from the first page and as such they aren't the entire string because that will all have to be manually repaired to make sense ever again. :-u
The first page is complete (more or less) but the addition section only supports catalyst and items right now, recommend you just open the damn database in access or something for now. :bigsmile2:

I've edited in 99 of every upgrade item, including slabs, and my save is fine.
IMHO, saves get corrupted when someone doesn't edit the save correctly, i.e., editing in items in the wrong section, not properly calculating and pasting in new checksum, trying to inject USER_DATA into DRAK0005 con file, etc. It could also occur (corruption) by not having the full, complete inventory location sequence** for each item but I haven't confirmed this.
**After the ID and quantity of each item is a sequence of numbers/letters that indicates the inventory location, e.g., FF0AAD04201, FF0AAD04301, etc. The "FF0AAD" is not a constant, this sequence appears to be completely random. It could be you need the entire sequence, not just 00000004201, 00000004301, 00000004401, etc. in order for the save to not corrupt but as I said, I haven't confirmed this.

regarding the bolded red section: like mrjingleusa, I have modded all upgrades/titanites to 99 (63 in hex) multiple times but i have only edited the quantities not the other values associated with the item.

so far, after many saves and edits, file integrity seems to remain solid *knock on wood* as long as I continue the same process.

to those that would argue that a 4-5MB save is fine and has worked for you so far, i would suggest that you are few and far between...looking at it from a technical perspective, wouldn't it make sense to have the modified file resemble the original as much as possible so that the game will recognize it? as a somewhat related example, may i suggest a scenario where there is a parent who has lost their 8 year old child. they are later presented with a 4-5 year old child and told that that is the child they lost. The 4-5 year old child is clearly NOT the same child that went missing and the parent will, without a doubt, notice this and, most likely, reject the child. Even in the event that they DO accept the child, it is NOT the same as the original and treatment will not be the same as the original. IF, however, there was a lost twin of the 8 yr old perhaps separated a birth, and THIS were presented to the parent of the lost child, the likelihood of acceptance is much greater than the 4-5 year old. Sorry for going off on a tangent, but it just doesn't make any sense why some believe that their 4-5MB file would have the same integrity in game as the original file.

99% sure you were using horizon. Horizon consistently produces fucked up saves for me. Smaller in size, 4-6mb, no matter what. Modio has worked so far though for everything except now that I have the bottomless box I can't seem to edit items again no matter what....

I finally made it to the giant blacksmith upgraded all the weapons and shields. when I wake up I got to add in a shield and upgrade it. Then I'll make another beta save and fix the 2nd post. Can't promise I'll get it all done but i'll try. I've got to wedding rehearsal to go to. Also I am sorry I've fail update the 2nd post. I've been to busy with all the RGH 360 stuff.

Did anyone encounter "Cannot hold additional items" error? I do not know when it happened because it has been a while since I've bought anything from anyone in DkS but now I can't buy anything from anyone because there's always a message "Cannot hold additional items", even with Havel's ring lol. and my weight is like ~19/100. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I tried to level up just now and my character died :x It seems that my HP was somehow glitched at 3x the ammount it should have been :x Just to clarify, the items message started popping up before my death while levelling up occured.

Ok I am not completely sure if this helps anyone but, I have modded the game multiply timesand found something. Now I had a huge problem at first modding it would because it always corrupted. Yet making backups saved me, so after a lot of trial an error I decided to save and quit at a different bonfire and remod it as necessary. So long story short if you are still getting corrupted save switch bonfires. Its always worked for me on both of the editors, the beta and the original. Hopes this helps.

With knowing the max level for each weapon, it would be quite easy to have acess or excel auto generate everything. Shouldnt be hard at all.

I manually updated all weapons, shields and armor parts. I didn't take the time to get the weapon and shields IDs for there upgrades.
It would be nice if someone would use what Mr Rouseau and help me with the IDs.

I'm curious, has anyone found out a way to up a weapon or spell's damage output? I've been trying to figure out which hex it might be, but to no avail. I think it would be pretty fun to run around with a dagger that did same damage as a upgraded greataxe or such. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Can't be done. Damage output of weapons is stored in the ISO, not the save file.

Agreed, when I fixed the hair color in the beta the save picture still looked crazy. When I loaded all was well. I think the first picture is saved somewhere else in the con file, but it gets fixed when you load the hacked user_data.

Ok I have noticed a lot of people saying that the rehash and resign doesn't work well in either horizon or modio. Now this maybe a dumb thing to say. But why not take your save data and open it in snuggly and have it resign and rehash then just inject it with either modio and horizon? Is this Dumb or what?

after toying some, i found the info that purtains to a basic curse. At some point i will also get the bleeding, poison, and toxic status effects labled. Not sure if face gen is worth labling but it should be fun either way :P. Magnus should post his pictures that he took when he toyed with the section.

1. Rest at a bonfire, then Quit the game.
2. Extract your DRAKS0005 file from your USB.
3. Open the DRAKS0005 file in Horizon or Modio and click the Contents tab.
4. Extract the USER_DATA that your character is stored in, then close your DRAKS0005 file.
5. Open both the USER_DATA and DRAKS0005 in Hex Workshop.
6. Edit the USER_DATA first (DON'T FIX THE CHECKSUM YET).
7. Go to your DRAKS0005 and Search for your characters name (make sure to click the Unicode String box).
8. Make sure you find your name with your stats above the name (there should be 3 of your name in the DRAKS0005 file).
9. Copy/Paste the edited info from USER_DATA to DRAKS0005.
10. Go back to USER_DATA and copy the Checksum and search for it in the DRAKS0005 file.
11. Calculate the Checksum of USER_DATA and replace the old Checksum in DRAKS0005 with the new one.
12. Save, Rehash and Resign the save and replace it back on your USB (DON'T ADD THE USER_DATA BACK INTO THE DRAKS0005 FILE).

The reason you have to edit USER_DATA is because the save has a checksum. You cannot calculate a new checksum if you make changes to the DRAKS0005 file itself. You have to calculate the new checksum using the modified USER_DATA and paste that into the DRAKS0005 file (over the old checksum).
What I have found to be the easiest, safest way to modify my Dark Souls saves is to open the extracted USER_DATA and DRAKS0005 files in Hex Workshop and edit them SIMULTANEOUSLY, i.e., make a change in USER_DATA, make the same change in DRAKS0005. Once you've made all your changes, copy the original checksum in USER_DATA and search for it in DRAKS0005. Calculate the new checksum in USER_DATA and paste that over the original checksum in DRAKS0005. Save, rehash and resign your modified DRAKS0005, profit. I've never had a problem with borked saves, corrupted saves, non-working saves, etc. by doing it this way.
If you have 4-5 copies of the same item you are replacing you can replace one or all of them with something else. You don't have to replace every copy of the item.
EDIT: The reason you search for your name with the stats above it in the DRAKS0005 file is to find the correct location of your items in the DRAKS0005 file. This section is essentially what your extracted USER_DATA is.

This was never actually set up with a video, these instructions came later. You need your user data seperate in order to see which of the 4-5 instances you spoke of you want to tweak in your file. You also need to recalculate the checksum based on the user_data, no other way to do that. Whatever you currently think checksum generating is, you must be doing it incorrectly. Finding the current checksum from the user_data in the CON file gives you a lower bound for your edits (edit nothing below that in the CON. As for the name, find the name in your con that is just above the checksum you just found which has your stat info below it, this gives you an upper bound for your edits in the CON file.
Everything you edit is between these two searches in the CON, you can bookmark them or just keep track of the line numbers.
You use the USER_DATA as a guide to find what to change in the CON rather than trying to change the USER_DATA and injecting it back into the save since that causes your save to delete itself at random a few sessions down the line. It can also make your game not save anymore.
Note: sometimes, it is easier to replace an easy to find item rather than figuring out which one to hex. Meaning, I find 3 spots with a longsword, but only 1 spot with a bandit's dagger. It is actually easier to replace the dagger with a longsword+10 rather than changing one of the longswords to a +10.
As for better instructions than that, just flip to page 1 and start reading. That is how I know what I do.

They appear to be a mix of regular gamers from all over, are they tester's gamertags hard coded into the game so they get bonus shit or do you think it has something to do with the game's hit and miss matchmaking system? Curious indeed.

Does this miracle work? I added it to my save but it shows 0 uses and has no picture. I remember your original post about this miracle and tried to find it but I couldn't. If it does work then I did something wrong. I just replaced the ID for Heal with the ID for this one.

Take a any item and replace the ids with 000002BD - Soul of Sif..... So go the first merchant buy Repair Powder. Look in the save for 4000000000000118 - Repair Powder and change it to 40000000000002BD....

B) Your Normal +15 IDs are wrong - you appear to have added 115 to each one, not 15. You're making +15 Crystal Weapons, not normal +15 weapons.

i noticed when i was modding the inventory items, like changing the quantity and replacing the id's everything worked smoothly, untill i got rid of some of my items i didnt need, next time i went to edit the save and looked up the id for blackbomb in the userdata i started getting two instances and when i searched the con file i would find six instances of my name instead of 3 like i was suppose to before, still there is only one checksum for the userdata in the con file just dont know why its doubling my id's and name in the con file, is this normal and which id do i change if not both?
update: some reason it fixed itself when i made another character in the slot below said character

I don't think this is possible. I tried to do that, with negative results. Basically it came down to just getting 99 of the resins to do it. Was hoping to do that or get a perm enchant for say, Sunlight weapon, but no go. At least I've not found it, so possibly it exists.

Each group of weapons is on a different sheet in the spreadsheet. Look at the labled tabs at the bottom, i.e., Daggers, Short Swords, Long Swords, Great Swords, etc.
Base Washing Pole Hex ID is 0007A508. That is equal to 501000 in decimal. Add +15 to that = 501015. Convert 501015 to Hex = 0007A517. Done. It's eadier to add the +5, +10, +15 to the decimal and convert the result back to Hex than to try and add to the Hex IMO. I use this converter to convert from Hex to Dec and Dec to Hex. http://www.statman.info/conversions/hexadecimal.html

I can't get the Lord Vessel stuff to work at all. I've followed the instructions on the first page and I've replaced my keys and changed the one value to FF. I have tried this in my DRAKS0005 File which I've only gotten it to freeze at the loading screen after I select my character or just corrupt the save. I've even edited the USER_DATA File and injected that straight into my DRAKS0005 File as well.
I don't know how to add new items so I haven't tried that but any help or advice would be great.

How I do it:
1.) I replace one of my keys usually the mystery key or residence key.
2.) find 0001F13E and change it to FF (mines at A4 to start with)
3.) I find the values in the DRAKS0005 File and change those.
4.) I Copy my checksum from USER_DATA File and search it in my DRAKS0005 File (or I just load it up in the Save editor program)
5.) I generate a new Checksum in USER_DATA with everything selected but the checksum itself
6.) I replace the checksum I found in my DRAKS0005 File with the generated one.
7.) I open it up in the Save program and click save so it rehashes it and everything and then place i on my USB with Horizon.
After that Darksouls either corrupts my save or it freezes at the loading screen after I select my character. If I just inject the edited USER_DATA File it acts like I didn't do anything at all.

Weird, anyone else having a problem with hex editing items and then suddenly having multiple locations show up when you're trying to edit it? For example, I know I only have 1 dagger, but it's showing me 3 locations of it. Wondering if I try to change all three locations to the same thing will corrupt the save. Anyone know a solution by chance? I've heard possibly creating another saver on the same drive to fix, but not sure. Thanks in advance.

Is that in your DRAKS0005 File? Because you should only have multiple in your USER_DATA File if you have more than 1.
If its in your DRAKS0005 File make sure it is with the rest of your items or it will corrupt your save.

Okay, it seems I have basically one shot at editing a save. If it's my first time, then there are the right number of items. After I've edited and then played the game some, then going back to edit, show's multiple locations for single items. Might be an odd glitch for me anyway. So easier for me to start a new game, take it to ng+ and then edit, then I don't need to really edit again, if that makes sense. Thanks for the helpful post on the link though, btw.

You may have the save open in an editor or something. I have had the same error because the Beta editor still had the save open.

ah your right I removed "need to add weapons armors and there upgrades" And to add that I added them into the save and manually updated all the weapons and armors. Its on the post about the save. So my bad guy. Hopfuly i'll get done finding the last spells I need. I found a weapon we didn't have on the lists. So that will be added and given ids as well. just so u guys know I start working a different work schedule. I was working 2pm until 10:20pm 5 days now I am working 3:30pm until 2am 4 days a week. So I don't know what I plan to do about my playing time and modding time, both software and hardware...

Maybe greatlord greatsword since you need to go to NG+ to get it. IF magnus has all armors upgraded and every weapon requiring tinkling fully upgraded then he has a better save than me. My NG+++ char has almost every boss and dragon weapon fully upgraded with every rare catalyst and talisman, etc. The Sun armor set is all at +10 thanks to duplicating titanite slabs.

WORD OF WARNING:
If you give yourself the Lordvessel and/or Rite of Kinding in a starter save, but have not gotten them legitimately in the game, you will NOT get the achievement for having them in NG. You cannot pick them up legitimately in NG because you already have them in your inventory.
This will result in you completing the game but not having the achievements for Obtaining Lordvessel and Obtaining Rite of Kindling. You will have to get these achievements in NG+. It will look odd in your achievement list when you have dates of obtaining Lordvessel and Rite of Kindling that are AFTER the dates of all your other achievements. :eh:
This happened to me. I made a starter save that had max stats, a few good weapons, armor, items, Lordvessel, and Rite of Kindling and used that in my first run through (don't have a lot of gaming time). Now, I still have to play NG+ at least through Anor Lando and The Catacombs to get my Lordvessel and Rite of Kindling achievements.
One of the downsides of modding I guess...

So last night when I went to get my last Miracle to get the achievement the game glitched or something and didn't give give me the "Blue Eye Orb, Blade of the Darkmoon Covenant Ring" for join. When I ranked up it didn't give me the Darkmoon Blade, Darkmoon Talisman.....So since I don't have a back up i've got to start a new game and get all the way back there.... So I added in the Miracle and it didn't give me the achievement. I bought one, equipped them all and it still didn't pop. Recheck the list and had them all. So Turk645 you are right about the game have flags the way we talked about and my way wouldn't work... Any so I got a little ticked off and was messing around with some of the game flag and now I can make and save go into a new game + just but loading the save. Also made all npc spawn at the firelink shrine like turk645 did on demon souls lol. Also I made it so I can refight some bosses.

memory address? you have an app to mod the memory too? That's rare to see, you must of made one or had on made lol. It easier to mod the save then memory editing this game. Use the bookmark I have uploaded or turk645's Structures view. They both have current equipped items offsets labeled. Turk645's has it so u can click it and change it with some of the weapons, armors and rings.
On an updated note I've found the boss flags and alot of other goodies. I am still working on my save guys. I mean I know the only thing missing is some spells, item and key items and that's easy to add in but I want to make the save have the flags unlocked so if u buy one of the spell types it will give u the achievements. Plus I have to downgrade the "rare" weapons for the achievement. Also I have to add 2 weapon IDs to the of the front page(Tin Darkmoon Catalyst and Oolacile Ivory Catalyst). We are only missing the Canvas Talisman. Easy to get from Starting as Cleric (Starter) or buy form Patches I can't get him to spawn at the firelink shrine :(. Other then that every upgraded weapon type, shield type and armors are in the beta5.
My next upload will have 1 save at the start of the game male , warrior, and none modded stats with max souls. All weapons, armors, etc..
Another save male , warrior, and modded stats plus above.
A NEW boorkmark with some goodies. Away to change the class, sex, gift, and other stuff.
You guys can post ideas of different types of files I can add to the my next upload.

ThanksItem 1-5 are the current item slots. 000002AC - 000002Af is a 32byte float value for the first item 000002B0 - 000002B3 2nd item slot etc.. So again I am failing to understand what ur really wanting.. I am sorry

yes Furui mono you can. That is why there is nothing in the bottomless box and all in ur invo. At the time of making the beta 1 we didn't know where to bottomless box data was but now we do. So I could be A- hole and make my save at the start with nothing until u get to the first bonfire Or even better wait until u can buy the bottomless box to get all the stuff lol. :P I will not do that though lol. You should wait until my next update some time this week hopefully. I started working 10hours a day 4days a week so Monday - Wednesday I don't get alot of time and when I am not working my wife has me doing the honey-do list. So yeah... I will tell u what I have any what I am missing. I have ALL weapons upgrade but 1 (easy to get), All armors upgraded, Ring, Items, Keys, embers, and upgradeable. All flag for spells so when you buy a spell you get the achievement for that type of spell.(havent fully tested it out yet). I have to find which weapon give u the Rare weapon achievement and clone the weapons and downgrade them to make the achievement pop. That should be everything. I want to make all bonfires fully max kindled but that is a big headache.
In my bookmark upgrade I will have the placements for the Egg head and value for max thanx to turk645. Dragon head and body + max vaue (better dragon breath) thanx to Idlehands88. Added in class, gift, physic and some other offset to to customize you char.

What I do to increase rank for my current covenant is that I remember the exact number of stuff I have gave them, say the sunbros for instance I give them 10 medals.
So go into hexworkshop find your characters name with your stats above it if you have all 99 it should look like c,c,c,c,c,c,c,
(You should not get more than 3 results)
Covert to hex the number of items you have given your Cov and the one closest to your name is the one.
Really simple once you get the hang of it.
BTW Always bookmark the name.

Hey Magnus, how do you copy the inventory form one character to another?
Say I want all my stuff from my original character to go into my new one.

Hi Magnus, I have tried to change the item id inside the USER_DATA file, then rework on the checksum part, and copy the new USER_DATA & the new checksum back to the save file (DRAKS0005). However, nothing is changed...however, it works, while I just change the item qty. I do not know which part's wrong...

Dude don't extract the data just use your DRAKS0005, search for your name and whatever your looking for should be near your name.
Remember you should get no more than 3 results when searching your name.
At least that how I do it.

updated the book mark and uploaded a complete save... Well its missing one tailsman idk where to find it.

short answer use the Structures viewer to find the item area. Then copy and past from one save to another.
BTW turk645 computer messed up on him and that is why he hasn't been around he has a more updated Structures viewer but he cant get it right now.

Thatguy no we can't edit the ps3 gamesave..I've stated why and to lazy to type it again.

Thanks. after a little research. only way to hack the ps3 version is to have it jailbroken. anyways is there any free version of hex workshop or anything similar? cause the one i was using has expired. a link would be great for a free hex editor

You can feel free to download the structure files posted in the 1st page.. then decompress and put them into the sub-directory "Structure" of Hex Editor folder...After doing, you can select both .hsl files by clicking the folder icon in Structure window...

Wow I feel like an idiot I never actually saw that file until now.
Damn when I tried to open the dark souls item test.hsl file into my strurctures my pc suddenly slow the hell down.
Is that normal?

Sorry, it is abnormal...maybe, it is caused by your save file or your structure file...you can try to download
(1) the structure file again
(2) the ultimate save (final) and then try to open again, to see, if you can open the file faster...

How much ram does your computer have? the structure file does eat up a lot of space as it tries to generate every single item slot, which is a lot. It should be easy enough to edit it to do less item slots for the sake of saving resources since i doubt anyone would ever get close to useing every slot.
You only need to open the test hsl and it auto opens the item hsl due to dependency. Also make sure you have the structure set on static and not float.
I'm still trying to replace the mobo on my good comp so it's still out of order.

if u don't mind the progress, u can just change the name in the ultimate save final and use it...this is the simplest way...

After hours I manage to get it working. All you have to do is put everything in the bottomless box.
The only thing that I didn't manage to change was the hair type. But anyway thanks magnus and turk for all your hardwork.
BTW this save is in a new game right not a new game+?

Hiya Guys,
New to the forums.
Was just wondering as i have a corrupt game save is there any way to recover this save using hex editing or anything, I only have one boss to go until I complete my first play through and really don't want to start all over.

This is a link to the DRAKS file fro the save.
the problem is freezing whenever I try to load the save from in game. It will also sometimes freeze when
pressing Y on the save file to open up character details in the load menu.(Hope this makes sense)
If you are able to see the character stats in more details they are all wrong as all stats are 0 and my character is marked as female(incorrectly).
Please let me know if you need anything else, The level i am supposed to be is 71.

I, like an idiot, added a couple spells in each category to try them out early. Since then I've collected them all legitimately but got no achievement. All because I wanted the crystal spells, etc., early. I did two playthrougs with that one character before collecting all of the spells and now those are the only achievements I'm missing, lol. Any help appreciated.

It didn't work for me either, and I actually acquired all of them from the NPCs/chests/dead guys. Good news is that I have, like, 2-3 copies of every good spell. Hooray multiple attunement slots.

the only hard things to do with modding dark souls is editing the parameter status.. if we can mod the defense & resistance to 5000+, it's a bit easy to advancing the game haha

I have to start by saying thanks, what little I understand is great and I'm having loads of fun.
I do have one question though, as simple as it may be, how do you add an item that you don't have any of?
Do you simply replace an existing items string after buying one from a vendor?

An FYI about corrupted saves I've discovered: Modio beta 4 will allow you to add/overwrite saves in your DRAKS0005 file without corrupting and keep it the correct 8.5MB size if (and only if) you open DRAKS0005, right-click to add a file, pick one with a name identical to an existing one, and let it overwrite. If you have a corrupted save, you can extract your USER_DATA* files, load up the game and create a new save, then transfer your USER_DATA* files into the new one via the above method.

I was reading this thread with great interest and a thought occurred to me of something that might or might not be possible with modding, that would stop a lot of speculating!
You must know about all the pendant/secret boss hype, so I was wondering if there's any way to mod yourself to be able to pass through walls? Like the nclip cheat in old PC games such as Jedi Knight 2?
Just a thought, because if it was possible, you'd be able to see everything, secret rooms included.

I've found out a few things and can add to the info here:
The 4 bytes at each item's offset 0x0C dictate the item's sort order and provide an index of some sort. Bytes 0x0C-0x0D and the first nibble of 0x0E are a value unique to each base item (including upgrades, ascension, and boss soul ascension). The inventory in-game appears to sort on this value. The remaining nibble and last byte give the index. It appears to be incremented for each item added, but unchanged when other items are removed, so the values aren't always sequential. It's unrelated to the order of items in the save, just the order they were added in-game. I've noticed some weird behavior with the bottomless box when there are duplicate index values, so it should be set accordingly when new items are manually added.
Example: 000000000010C9AD0000000124A5406501000000000000C800 000000
ID for Lightning Halberd + 5, Quantity = 1, Sort value = 0x24A54, Index = 101, Durability = 200
There is a unique ID for each item when it's ascended with a boss soul. e.g., 4AF38 for the Greatsword of Artorias made with a Broken Straight Sword, and 4AF9C when it's made with a Straight Sword Hilt. 33 IDs for all the different ways you can make a Crystal Ring Shield, etc. So there are a lot of IDs missing for the boss soul weapons/shields listed here. They're all part of the list below, named like so: 'Item Name (Item used to make this item)'.
I put together a spreadsheet (http://absurdlyobfuscated.com/xxse/DS%20Items.xlsx) with all the items and added the sort values, boss item IDs, etc., and fixed a few little typos/issues from the other lists out there while I was at it. It has info for everything, including all possible upgrades of all items. I think it's pretty comprehensive :wink:
All of this is in the save editor I made (http://absurdlyobfuscated.com/xxse/), and everyone is welcome to try it out. :grin:

Is there a way to make a weapon permanently invisible?
If you cast invisible weapon, save and quit surely the save has a location for that data and how much time the spell has left... does anyone know how to make that permanent?
If not, there was another way. I recall modding my save last year and giving myself somesuch sword...but I fucked up and it was invisible (not by magic, some glitch where I replaced an equipped weapon value with something else) it worked perfectly fine except you couldn't see it. I don't recall what I did wrong but I quickly fixed it (in hex editor, couldn't remove the effect in-game) just wondering how I might do that again? I can't be the only one who made that error.

Actually the perma-spell thing was just me being curious, the actual weapon invisibility I had wasn't a spell effect it was a glitch with the game. My character had a dagger in his off-hand in the currently equipped line of code but I somehow replaced it with a large sword in another line of code. This caused the game to glitch out and it ended up being an invisible longsword.

so i have an idea, and im not too good with hex editing so i was wondering if you guys could help me, i want to see what part of the saves tell the game if the boss is alive and if you can summon people in your world based on that, because if i could find that then perhaps i can trick the game by editing my save and telling it the iron golem is dead, even though i can still summon people in sens fortress, good uses for this would be for organized pvp could now be in boss areas and gravelords can gravelord and get invaded even though he killed the boss in that area. i personally love pvp and if i could do this that would just make my day.
so.. the test i propose to figure this out, is to make a save right infront of the iron golems fog gate, unequip everything but your weapon to kill him eliminating mutiple durability values being changed in the comparison, try not to lose health, and dont use any consumables, and then make a save after you kill him and compare the two in hex workshop, i tried this but i dont know how to read hex, so im just scratching my head, if anyone would want to help and wants to use my files to compare let me know and ill upload them. thank you!

There doesn't seem to be a definite section for just bosses, each is mixed in with a whole bunch of who-knows-what. Still, if you can upload before & after saves for each boss, I'd take a look at them. It could be a lot of work, for everyone involved, I suppose. If you're still interested, you don't need to worry about maintaining the same stats or items when you do this - all that is pretty well understood. Just don't pick up any static (not dropped from an enemy) items or open any doors or otherwise interact with the world, that's the kind of thing that I think gets stored in approximately the same area. Another thing that would be helpful would be to start each boss battle and immediately save & quit or just die, so the cutscenes and anything else that might be triggered are the same in the before and the after saves.

how would you go about finding what code decides you cant summon people after killing a boss. i have a huge hunch it has to do with the save itself rather than the game, because in sifs forest you can see signs though the door next to the bonfire even though sif is dead as long as the moonlight butterfly is alive. plus how awesome would it be to expand this idea further what if you could pvp in all boss areas, gaping dragons area, quelaggs arena, demon firesage is a good one, maybe even the abyss lololol that might be pushing it though
the character i used is a lvl 5 and i had the lighting long sword +5 and a thouroland talisman equiped.

i eliminated as many variables as i could i didnt pick up anything except for getting the iron golems soul, and the souls for defeating him, the only weapon i used was the lighting long sword so the only change to that should be durablility since i didnt wear armor or use consumables
and i used your modding tool to get the elic cleric set and the escape death miracle your tool works great absurd, the only thing is everytime i modded the spell casts of my equipped spells it would crash the game upon loading, other than that its awesome!
i have a thread started for this so people can post before and afters of the bosses to be analyzed. i think this could be very good :).

I don't think I'm running into the same issue you are, but then again I haven't tested it with adding more than a few dozen items at a time. If you could also upload your save in the other thread, before and after modifying, it would be helpful.

i fixed it :D i think it was an issue of empty spaces in the bottomless box, i started my new items 400 invetory index over the last item, once i tidied that up it all loaded :). i havent made any progress on the boss area summons what about you?

I have been trying to get the save editor to work with the DLC items but when I scan it never finds any of them. The only resource I've found is on:

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I couldn't find info anywhere else.
Hex editing dark souls saves. On 360.
How hard is it? I've been using jappi / mr nukalizers app for a while now, but I can't seem to make myself fully invisible.
Doing a bit of googling, it appears people on the PC version can do this, and even modify their weapons to one hit poison, curse and bleed people.
Would this be possible on 360, or is this way out of our grasp?

I hope someone knows the answer to this.
I want to mod my save for Dark Souls pc version (retail) but every time I try to load the save file with the Save Editor 2.5 it says "File is not large enough to be a STFS or is not on correct sizing bounds". The editor then does not load the save file.

Does anyone know how to fix the issue with achievements not unlocking after changing your save ? I cant get the lordvessel or any of the magic achievements to unlock for me

All the acheivements only register if the object is acquired, basically the game can't tell you've gotten an item until you pick it up or are given it, that's why you have to drop and pick up maxed weapons for their achievements to pop. There used to be a way to drop undropable items however your best bet would be to give yourself all lordvessel warps and a ton of souls and just rush from vender to vendor getting everything, you may also need to delete the lordvessel to be given it again but I'm not sure of that.

I'm having a bit of a "curiosity-explosion" for a lack of a better thing to call it. lets just say Im trying to use Darksouls save editor v.3.0.7.0. to try mixing the values of demon's great axe and silver knight straight sword. i'd prefer to just rip the stat scaling off of demon's great axe and put it onto the straight sword, but i'd also settle for having a silver knight straight sword that has the skill set of demons great axe.
what im asking for though to clarify is "How" I might do this. the best I've managed to do is create several "Dummy" items in my inventory by mincing the weapons id's together. I've also managed to create ?Weaponname? in my inventory that "is" a SKSS (By changing the last two didgets in the ID of SKSS+5 from 85 to 86-95) but rather than actually getting stronger like most ?Weaponname? it is simply an un-upgraded SKSS
Also i'd deffinately settle for a way to get a SKSS to +15 rather than these things i've prattered on about.
Please give me a hand with this and inform me on how to proceed with this goal... I'll leave all of these weird things in my inventory until that point.

I need some help Im actually hacking the ps3 version of dark souls but there is no save editor or forum site for that yet. Ive managed to hack in a ton of items and escape death, but I need to know the hex value for the instant karmic justice trigger.

I did the same thing with a chaos blade. For some reason it seems that upgrading a demon titanite weapon or in your case a twinkling titanite weapon will create a ?WeaponName? that has the stats of the original. As of yet I dont think there is a way to do it but it may be possible for some of the weapons. The weapon upgrade paths are coded into the game and they go up by a certain number (maybe a certain percentage?) along with the scaling so it doesnt look too good for your silver knight straight sword +15 :(
