Since the first thread has been spammed by people wanting the saves modded and all info it hard to find for those that want it. No asking for saves or asking for someone to mod your save! You have been warned!

Here is Idlehands88 process for manually modding the save:
1. Rest at a bonfire, then Quit the game.
2. Extract your DRAKS0005 file from your USB.
3. Open the DRAKS0005 file in Horizon or Modio and click the Contents tab.
4. Extract the USER_DATA that your character is stored in, then close your DRAKS0005 file.
5. Open both the USER_DATA and DRAKS0005 in Hex Workshop.
6. Edit the USER_DATA first (DON'T FIX THE CHECKSUM YET).
7. Go to your DRAKS0005 and Search for your characters name (make sure to click the Unicode String box).
8. Make sure you find your name with your stats above the name (there should be 3 of your name in the DRAKS0005 file).
9. Copy/Paste the edited info from USER_DATA to DRAKS0005.
10. Go back to USER_DATA and copy the Checksum and search for it in the DRAKS0005 file.
11. Calculate the Checksum of USER_DATA and replace the old Checksum in DRAKS0005 with the new one.
12. Save, Rehash and Resign the save and replace it back on your USB (DON'T ADD THE USER_DATA BACK INTO THE DRAKS0005 FILE).
How to edit Items and stuff.
First buy a Known ID for a item, weapon, armor or ring. Then look for that value say 00000118 - Repair Powder. Using the 40000000 + will make he search look like 4000000000000118. Then next 4 bytes is the amount u will have 1 so it will be 400000000000011800000001. Change the 01 to 63 and you will have 99 of them.
40000000 + (id) for Items and Key Items and spells
00000000 + (id) for weapons, shields, and armors
2000000000 + (id) for rings

how to enable all warp bonfirest:
1) You have to give yourself the lordvessel by replacing an existing key and change the amount.
2) Goto address 0x0001F13E in USER_DATA and change the value to FF

To edit the items to a max upgrade change the last value higher. Meaning 000000000007A120 - Uchigatana + 5 makes 000000000007A120 - Uchigatana +5
To edit the helmets into the other parts of the set just add 1000(3E8 in hex) to each helmet value to change it's section. 1000 for body, 2000 for arms, and 3000 for legs.

What do you do if you want, say, a crystal long sword? Add 100 (or 64 in hex) to those three bits. 03 11 28 becomes 03 11 8C and you have a crystal long sword.

Here is the current version of the save structure as of Oct/19/11. To use just place the two files into the structure folder of hex worshop, load the userdata file, load the structure via the structure menu on the bottom left, and then right click the white area and select add structure.
Since this is the work in progress version, some things might not work right. The main structure you want to add is the save structure(it includes proper working covenent) and Item ID's have been added.
When adding, make sure the structure is set to fixed and not float.
The structure viewer should now support the whole save and should have every base item ID

Looking forward to seeing some good progress in this thread.
I think i found the general location of your player location in the save. It's kinda pointless at the moment but what I do want to find is the info where it saves the last bonfire used. This would help some people out if they could easily jump between bonfires. In theory though it would come at the cost of dieing in order to reset location.
there's an item in the game about 35% - 40% in called "lord vessel" it allows you to travel between bonfires, maybe you can search for this item, there's also "Homeward bone" item, it send you to the last bonfire you used without penalty, you can actually buy this item with all the souls people would have.
A combo of these 2 items and you have what you;re looking for :)

this is true but in theory you could also jump to a bonfire you havent discovered yet, sequence break if you will. Mostly good for new game plus.

after some more testing, i have done some odd things again. :P i think that demon walking around the tutorial area in the background is invincible. he refuses to go down with any attack :P.
Edit: That room was a test of sorts. :P the save really isnt meant to be used for the whole game, just as a test and proof of concept.
Edit2: after more searching, it seems that item have no "true" spot to themselves. They are grouped by type, to an extent, and then it just seems to be first come first serve in the save file.
Edit3: it should also be noted that some of the details about items in the first post is a little off :P

It doesn't matter that the file size changes. I didn't watch the video... I'll look a it tomorrow and see if its done right. Extract the USER_DATA edit what u want then fix the checksum. Which can be done with Hexworkshop. Then replace the USER_DATA resign/hash and load up the save.

Yeah I figured it out, it was Horizon that did it for me...don't ask why, I tried with several other programs and did the exact same things each time but Horizon was the only thing that worked for the rehash / resign thing. Thanks for the tips though.
Okay here's a real question...where is the inventory located in the hex file? I want to start modding the values of my consumable items...and if anyone knows the hex value for Dragon Scales...that would be mint because I wanna pimp that Drake Sword out hardcore right now.

I feel it's still worth mentioning it is much safer to use the UserData file as a reference while you hex the con itself, this way you don't give the programs a chance to screw up on replacing the file which is where it's most likely to go wrong.
I have a save i con hex'd and the file structure is still 100% intact, I've been meaning to examine the save for more content but it's nice to know there are people covering that base.
As for the con editing i've been working on a proof of concept thats almost done but it met a limitation with what seems to be packageio in that it can't search the con for the md5 string because it appears to be too long, it can still look for a smaller string containing level and soul however. i might be able to cut it down a little and put in some verification but its a pretty big problem.

you can't trade it since it's a quest item and even though I have the ability to travel, I don't have it in my inventory anymore.
EDIT: Also, after looking into it some more, it might mess up people's progress since there are certain events that can only be triggered before or after you have said item.

Looking forward to your concept 8ball I guess a big part to would be is there anyway to get the smaller files back to their original size would save players who have gotten pretty far the chance to continue with out having to restart. I was taking a look into my inventory but that part of the fileseems all kinds of random I lack the skill to Identify on Item from the rest since its all so close together.

that is not entirely true. Each item has a length of 1c. From my experience, if the item cant be dropped then it's id start with 4 but this could be coincidence so far.
I am building an item id list though so it should help some people. The list will be nowhere near complete for a long time.
Edit: Well i just found an interesting glitch, seems that armor burden stacks. Wonder if ring effects could stack this way.... *shifty eyes*
Edit2: I have a proper structure viewer for items. It seems that there is a shit load of space for items to be stored in the save. Seems the game lumps keys and everything else apart from each other. I will be releasing the structure file in a little bit after some testing.
Edit3: i added the structure file. Hopefully it will help some people. And yes i was lazy and didnt lable durrability.

I was getting the corrupt saves before when editing, using Horizon seemed to fix that. However, the save I'd been using for the past day or so suddenly stopped loading. Instead of corrupted though, it just says, "failed to load save". This was when I was dropping an item to trade for the crow (you need to quit/reload to have the items swapped out). Working fine.. then... failed to load. The only thing altered originally was souls. So, I've bought a bunch of spells/upgrades/items, but I didn't go crazy with leveling (went with a few miliion souls). Since the save was "normal" for the most part (no weird stats, just a bunch of souls), I'm somewhat perplexed why it would stop working/loading now. What would cause something like this to a previously working save (worked for over 24 hours).

Pulled the save, the user_data01 that I was using with that character is no longer inside the container?! I recall some people mentioning vanishing files before in the other thread, but I don't recall a resolution. I'm going to see if I can do anything with some items on this new one.

Red-well 08 seems to mean equipped items also this looks to be the end of the item
Blue-I think this is the beginning of the item, i think 10 means equipment and 40 means consumable items, not sure what 20 means
Black-These are the sequential order of the items in the inventory

Edit: I managed to find where the player apearance info is; it's shortly after the inventory. Toying with it does lead to some odd results but i have to say pure black skin in hollow form looks bad ass.

its due to the way horizon works but if i remember right there is a fix. As long as you didnt delete the save yet, extract the player data file of your game you want to save. Delete the old non working save off the memory unit and start a new game. After you can save and quit, just reinject your extracted old progress over this new save. It should in theory work.

I had posted my info in the Snuggly section, I apologize, I didn't see this thread until just now. I do need assistance. The mod tool is awesome but it'd help if it came with instructions? I'm kinda lost and the mod tool doesn't give a specified path where to save your file so it makes it a bit difficult to zero in on your save without trying to be confused about if it's the right one. That's just my opinion though, not trying to put the creator down just throwing ideas out if they plan to update. :)

Every item I've tried has worked thus far.
I did the OP's swap of the sword hilt... for the Demon Hammer. Without pasting entire strings, I changed the digits on the category 40 stuff. I changed the digits on firebomb to soul arrow, result = 6 copies of soul arrow. I changed an undead soul to moonlight butterfly soul. That was with me just changing those 3-4 characters. The possibilities on weapon modding are intriguing, but I didn't know quite enough detail to tinker with that. I'm going to try speculatively adding things from where I imagine the sequence goes.
The bad news, much like my previously edited save, this one also became unloadable (not corrupt). The previous one's data file was completely missing (not even sure how or why that would happen). There's a "phantom save" there now (it shows the the portrait of the character who's save isn't even in the file anymore). I was thinking since this one was also not loading (not corrupt), that it also vanished, got deleted, or whatever's happening to these saves.
The first character (of the three), which was also edited.... still loaded. So, I decided to delete the save from the drive and start from scratch, see if it's more stable. I'll plug in some random values as soon as can accumulate some junk to "alter".

Actually, i believe the level goes higher than 145. Each soul used on a stat raises your level by one. In Demon Souls the max level was 999.

In terms of hexing stats it seems that you can put your stats past 99 but there doesn't seem to be nay actual affect past 99. Health and stamina are a different story though, I have each of mine at 10 or 100 million atm (can't remember tbh), basically making you invincible.

The phantom save effect us a result of the visual data on the load screen that shows your saves is actually stored in user data 0a from what i can tell. so even if your save disapers it will still show as being there.

Yeah I raised a bunch of my stats to 99 but 4 of them are still at 50 because it requires a ridiculous amount of souls to level past level 500. I think right now my guy is on like level 545 or something around there. I kept about 7 digits worth of souls so I could just buy things in the game without having to edit the save again.
I hope this corruption crap doesn't happen to me, I edited my stuff and played for like 6 or 7 hours straight yesterday making an insane amount of progress...I beat like three full areas and got all the treasure in them. Oh well, here's hoping things go well with the item editing because I'm about to give myself 99 of all those rare materials I just collected.

Same thing is happening to me....my file got corrupted so I made a new one, injected the USER_DATA file inside of it. It works perfectly, loads and all that good stuff.....but now when I try to go back and edit anything in the file I can't inject it back. I even tried extracting it and injecting it back right away...not working. Guess I gotta play the game with what I got...oh well, I'm pretty buff, I just wanted more crafting materials is all.

I just attempted a transfusion on my corrupted save to a fresh container, huge success... until you quit. Guess this means next time i load this save im playing to the end. imokwiththis. whats this talk about needing the title update? does it stop the games stupid self corrupting? because it sure as hell isn't our fault if it screws up.

I tried the same thing yesterday. I changed my Userdata to a new fresh save. Yeah it works no doubt BUT for some reason it doesnt save. Im in Anon Lando, i defeated both giant knights opened the entrance door i opened the side door that is next to the Blacksmith got some souls i quit, reloaded and BOOM it didnt save that progress so i have to do all that again. I wonder what went wrong.......

I'm also making great leaps in research for save recovery, i just reconstructed Azul's and my own saves and i'm picking up patterns i had a feeling where there, all i can say is, that soul scrubbing i keep going on about, it effects not only what save is being fed off but where the original is stashed, more on that when i dont feel so tired. Onwards my fellow minions, before the week is out we shall have the last laugh!

Thanks for the I.D. numbers, they'll help a lot. Unfortunately I don't know if I'm going to be able to mod my file again because I've done the transfusion but every time I try to replace the USER_DATA (even if it's unaltered) it gives me that block error thing. Not sure if there is a way around this once it occurs...even after transfusion.
I'm going to attempt to edit it now but even after the transfusion the file size is still only 5 megs...it seems like every time you edit the file it gets smaller and smaller to the point where it just can't shrink itself any more...probably why the error occurs? I dunno enough about this stuff, I'm just taking uneducated guesses here. LOL
EDIT: Yeah I just tried opening the file again after playing for about an hour, my USER_DATA file is no longer visible to extract. Doesn't make much sense but there you have it. I'm basically screwed for any further editing on this character. I just wanted to pimp that Drake Sword out instead of having to find 1 Dragon Scale here and there. I just found another one though so I'm up to Drake Sword +2 so far.
EDIT 2: Yeah I should have just left well enough alone...save file won't even load any more. It basically just deleted itself because I'm trying to mess with it. I wouldn't doubt if the dev's knew people were going to hex their saves and put in some sort of precaution when the file gets moved around too much, random shit just happens to it.

yeah. the file is slowly getting built. :) Best part is that, if hex workshop will accept it, i could easily input all of the item id's as a find them and the structure will name it if i setup the itemtype as an enum. Swapping made easy :P

People need to use the search function it irritating. Anyways 8ball peep this the save you fixed it isn't really fixed its odd in fact I do everything in the exact same or from my start location I go to kill sif then make my way to valley of the drakes once I have done that I kill the undead dragon grab the new londo key and a bunch of neat items then make my way back toward the blacksmith to save and boom failed to load. I'm wondering if maybe it has something to do with the already modded values? Either way something happens at that point in the game which renders my file useless. Looking at it im not sure what it could be the only thing I can think of like already said is the abyss walker chevo pops after the sif fight. will reload and see if skipping him will solve anything.

Tomorrow ill do some manual switch ups, if that doesnt work it might just be you shouldnt manipulate files while theyre in that order. the one that 'worked' was where i replaced both userdata and userdata0a.
Failed to load is really annoying, at least corruption is guaranteed doom.

Actually I made some head way 8ball I rebuilt the file similar to how you had explained however I brought over the 0a part too. My file came out to be much bigger than either of the ones you sent over I fought sif logged out of the game and reloaded fine. Now thats not much of a test but im backing up that save from that point and continuing to test the same route as before with luck I might have stupidly solved our problem >..> you sir should be in bed its late and you were tired last we spoke xD Maybe someone else can confirm as im still new to this but I noticed after the sif fight my offset did infact change <.< (one I've not seen before while editing)

Posting my findings. After making the edits to my file as described in my last post I found that following the EXACT same route killing sif>vally of drake>back to blacksmith no differences in what I did at all. the file loads fine, the size and initial offset are two things I hadn't seen the way they were after the edit im backing it up now as we speak for a closer look. With any luck this means we can edit to our hearts content . Turk would you be able to send me a userdata bookmark with the items you've found so I can add mine that I have found and those I cant yet Identify? Now that the save is working properly I want to get back to ID finding so we can get this awesome editor up! also turk or 8ball I know im still learning but should you need help please ask as I really am enjoying myself.

Turk take a look at the fire keeper soul ID.....Notice that its different? For some reason theres two Id's for the same item in my invent>..> I'm thinking youll have to edit both to actually get the number of souls edited..if that makes sense while still not going over the number of souls you could obtain in one game (meaning no 99 fire keepers souls). Will have to test that out later I spose thats enough work for one day.
Ah status update on my file it seems to be working flawlessly even better than before for some reason. Will try to duplicate exactly what I did as I think it might be our ticket.
@turk you were right they are two firekeepers souls oddd indeed well least we have the IDS

it could be the case where they made it soe some firekeepers dont stack. altough they would stack if you got the same firekeeper on a different playthrough and didnt spend the first.

There's 3 behind the titanite demon in the catacombs and a chance for them to drop off the frog guys in the depths. They're required for rep with gravelords. Right now I'm just faction swapping and power leveling each faction to get their goodies. Turns you you can keep the goodies after leaving. So atm I can turn into a dragon, have the full darkwraith set and red eye orb, and have the 2 badass spells from the chaos sisters. Next step is to get the giant katan from the forest wolf chick and then level up gravelords which is quick nice i hear as well.

Also in terms of corruptions I did some more testing and the gamestate (online/offline) definitely has an impact on modding your save. Right now I know for sure that if your save is offline when you go to mod, reload in offline and vice-versa. Earlier by mistake my save was in an "online" status and the modding reverted me to an arena I had been in hours earlier since I was in offline mode when I reloaded it. Figure that may have been a problem since people are probably jumping between private chats and parties while their playing/modding, I know I am.

I'm fairly certain at this point online or offline has very little to do with the corruptions instead its the structures of the saves. The way I'm fixing saves now makes me certain its more the structure than anything else. I'll try to make a run at the catacombs I hate that place finding the necromancers is a pain in the ass. USE THE EDIT BUTTON :P not to come off like an ass but yea double posting bugs me. Turk , Turns out ill be needing your help tomorrow with this save need someone else to test a thought just to confirm it working. @ cybersam could you provide me info on how you guys got around the save problem with the editor I want to contribute in that side of things aswell, It doesnt have to be out in the open can be a pm if privacy is an issue. Also would like to check if my ids have helped at all :P

I'm feeling a bit crazy today so i think i'll rip the entire con apart and rebuild it piece by piece, i tried this before but i did it by file name, not offset, needless to say that was a catastrophic failure.
Also Azul what was it that you did to your save to get it to work properly in the end?
EDIT: I tried it on your save again and this time it rebuilt the file as a 8mb! i literally just replaced everything in offset order, cant test it though as i dont have the title update.
I'd love to get my hands on a bookmark with what ids we have so far and stuff, i need some materials for these damn weapons! What I'm using now is basically a divine pointy stick.

Agreed. Seems like 0a keeps disappearing. There's also times where USER_DATA disappears as well. Such as when I drop an item in snugglys next then quit and try to load.

Already been discussed with 8ball and both files are equally important as they are the only two that remove themselves(well for the target character that is). From my testing last night ill post notes when I've ran them by 8ball.
@8ball and turk: Any chance we can hop into a chat room on irc or a messenger would make collaboration easier even if the talking is minimal.
@everyone reading: please do not message me asking for fixed save or the info on it as I wont respond. I won't hand out a bad method and be responsible for anyones frustrations once 8ball lets me know im on the right track and we've made headway I'm sure he'll post about it.

In hex workshop's structure section you first select "select structure library" and load the file i posted. Then you right click the white area and select add structure. Select items and hit ok.

after work i will be starting to build the item list again. After i get a decent list then i will release the updated structure. At some point i should split the structure file into two files, one specificly just for item IDs.
:P I should really be trying tomap out the rest of the save though.

Use the damned edit button this is a forum like anyother tired of the double post. rather presumptuous to assume thats your method we've all be working on files for this game for several days and have gotten it down. As for ID swapping theres a few people who have done it succesfully youd have to ask them take a look in the old request thread . The very little I have done with the item swapping did work and I didnt need a sequence how ever could have been a random act of success. Is anyone working on getting the equipment ids I dont mind doing it but like I told 8ball I'm not to familiar with the length of the string.

I found out how to get the Dragon Head and/or Torso for your characters model :P It's the model you get for using the items that turn you into a dragon from the Dragon Covenant. If you just want the Dragon Head, only add the Dragon head (durr lol)

In there u will see shield1/weapon1 ect juut change the id there to the weapon u want and the game will change everything for u. It will delete the shield/weapon u have on. The armor that you have on is some where around there too. Since I am playing with only a head and have no armor I cant really look for the address.

Does anyone have a little bit more clear version of these instructions? I tried to follow it closely, but it is not really working for me, but I think maybe it's really something, because when i followed the video tutorials, it does come up with a smaller file than usual, just like he said, 5 megs instead of the usual 8.5ish. The other method was working for me, but the saves always end up failing to load eventually, I wonder if maybe it's because there is some stuff missing? I downloaded this bookmark from his post, but the instructions didn't work for me.
so my findings so far:
- The problem with save corrupted is because the way horizons do that (the file replace of userdata and rerash/reassign), the file is about 5megas, when original one is 8.5-9megas.
- You can replace items without problem following my method, but i cant figure how to add a new item.
my method:
1- Extract DRAKS0005 using Horizon
2- Unpack USER_DATA with Horizon too
3- Load into Hexworkshop both files with bookmarks(they are messed , i know :()
USER_DATA time
4- edit on USER_DATA the item you want
5- select all data minus USER_DATA checksum area
6- calcule checksum and copy into DRAKS0005 checksum area
DRAKS0005 time
7- select "COPY AREA Bookmark" from USER_DATA
8- Copy/paste to "COPY AREA Bookmark" of DRAKS0005
so now you have a working DRAKS0005 with 8.5mb and with correct checksum and edited items.
9- Open that file DRAKS0005 on CONcept.exe to reassign/rerash
10- Open Horizon again and delete de save game and inject this new one
done.

My problem was how to calcule checksum from USER_DATA inside DRAKS0005 the file have a different size and checksums :
SIZE OF USER_DATA ON DRAKS0005 = 42E000
SIZE OF EXTRACTED USER_DATA with Horizon = 60000
other thing, i was adding new itens by merchant on undead parrish, that was my items ( i replaced it by titanic shards, arrows to shards):

I know this has probably been discussed before but in order to not corrupt your save you need to extract the USER_DATA and USER_DATA0a files. Make a back up of these two files, then edit the copy of the USER_DATA file in hex workshop and then swap your HD back on your Xbox. (WITHOUT INJECTING IT)
Delete your save data off the hard drive (because it's going to get corrupted if you try to inject anything back in to it due to the small files size) then make a fresh character from scratch, as soon as the game starts up, just quit out of the game. DO NOT DASH, just hold the middle button and turn the console off after the publisher's names start popping up at the start of the game.
After that go back on your PC and inject the modded USER_DATA and USER_DATA0a files back in to the newly created 8.5 meg file. It will turn to 4.99 megs and it won't corrupt on load up. I've done this several times now and it's the only way to NOT corrupt your file when you mod it...I played the game for 3 hours straight and went to go do this...works like a charm. Also you have a nice back up in case something does happen.
Right now the safest way to mod your file is to just mod currently existing crafting items + souls. Twinkling Titanite is probably the one item you wanna mod to 99 more than once, lots of armors and weapons use it and the quickest legit way to get it is to go to Snuggly and give him Purple Moss then quit and reload (it's annoying as all fuck)
Injecting items in to the file will most like screw your file up from what I've seen. I've tried injecting dragon scales in but it just says I have them but there is no number and I can't drop them at all. What I did was just found 1 of them (not hard to do) and then edited them to 99...best way to go really.
If anyone finds the value for Sunlight Medals, that's a good item because you need 10 of them for the Way of the Warrior Covenant and I only have 3 so far, I missed like 3 or 4 opportunities to get some as well. So yeah, Sunlight Medal I.D. is greatly needed for a couple of Miracle Spells / the Miracle Spell achievement if you wanna get all of them legit.

Yes the item quantity is in there as well. In what i currently have released it details the item id and quantity and the rest are labled as unknown but the second to last unknown is durability.
I've been updating my structure with more info as i go on, mostly item selection. The next version will have many items added to it to make editing a little easier. It also has an easy covenent select and as i map more it might have things like gender, stats, etc.

Two spaces or a 'Byte' can support an integer up to 255, what you want is 2 bytes, a 16 bit (8*2, 1 byte = 8 bits) value which the level is because it actually begins 1 byte before. Simply enter 0318.
In other news i've almost finished my tool but i'm hitting a snag that needs someone very familiar with packageio to poke and prod, usually when it doesn't find anything its caught as an exception, with this it just sets the pointer to the EOF and takes a long time about it.
I've been grabbing all the ids posted and slotting them into a database, once i overcome this problem i can have it modify a bookmark to accomodate your particular save, it'll even work on the con itself if you apply the saves offset.

The book mark that I have uploaded will show u the id of the weapons, shield, arrows and bolts. After I get back from work and find out where the items that are equipped is then it will be easyer to find out the ids. Also the helm armor an rings that you have equipped ids are there too I dont have it updated. I will update it once I get back from work.

Do items inside the bottomless box carry a different id number? seeing as how they aren't on character? I was trying hard to hex in twinkling titanite and I had some inside the box and I couldn't find the values through hex workshop went back in game and put the items on char and miraculously they appeared inside hex workshop when i opened the save. Also rings of sacrifice don't seem to stack considering I bough an bunch from that creepy guy in the bell tower and they populated my ring inventory like they were all separate rings. If this has been discussed on a different thread I apologize for reposting

Are you all just ignoring the 6 bytes after the quantity in your Item IDs? These seem to be also unique to each item. If we leave them out, how do we know that is not going to cause a problem?
Example:
The listed Item ID for Titanite Chunk is 4000000000000406. However, the full 1C for this is 400000000000040600000003003EB077010000000000000000 000000. RED = Item quantity, Blue = Item location (these change depending on save).
What about the 003EB0 sequence? Every item has a unique 6 byte sequence following the item quantity that seems to be ignored in all the posted Item IDs.
Has anyone confirmed that simply adding 400000000000040600000063000000##010000000000000000 000000 will give 99 useable Titanite Chunks (where ## is the appropriate Item Location for that save?
Editing quantity of an item already in inventory should be easy because this 6 byte sequence will already be there. But trying to add something new could be problem without the proper 6 byte sequence.
Just a thought...

now what are the blue ones? location? time?
Right, sequence number. Wasn't sure what to call it. My point remains, we don't know what the blue is, but from what I can tell, it's unique to each item and doesn't change. I confirmed this on two separate saves, this sequence was identical for the same item in each save. I'm not sure what happens if we leave it as 000000 if we add an item. Can anyone confirm that leaving this sequence out has no effect? The reason I asked is because we have all of these lists of Item IDs, but none of them include that 6 byte sequence with the Item ID.
The last item in my save is 200000000000008D00000001000110CC010000000000000000 000000. So my next sequence number will be CD. If I want to add 99 Dragon Scales, I can add 400000000000045600000063000000CD010000000000000000 000000 to the next blank sequence. But that won't have the unique 6 byte sequence prior to the sequence # for Dragon Scales because no one has reported what this sequence is for Dragon Scales. Do we need this?

So far I've been ignored the whole blue sections and simply overwriting an item I didn't need. When I was trying to create the various slabs I would drop the hex associated with each (blue, white, red) directly over some souls (souls of proud, souls of nameless, etc). Not exactly the best solution but it works fine until the purpose of the blue is discovered.
I have tried hex editing and gotten failed saves.
I have tried other peoples gameaves and got failed saves.
I do not know which program i need to download to be able to use the dark souls mod tool.
If someone could tell me what program(s) i need or give a link to them or tell me how to prevent failed saves i would be eternally grateful.

Please Dont double post id even if they "look nice" as we already have them. Doing testing with the bottomless box and once an instance of the item is put into the bottomless box you can swap out (I left one in my invent for good messure) the id for something similar in length then simply move back the original item without problem which will provide an avenue for super edited saves still doing some testing to refine the idea and make sure there arent any draw backs.
I've seen many double posts of ID's from you and Turk...

Okay on topic I had a chance to sit with my user_data for a sec once you bring items back into your invent if swapped out the file does assign a new place to it. However I'm still unable to locate the bottomless box I've attempted looking for the values of what I have in there with no luck in either the user data or the user data0a file. So I'm guessing the item IDs are changed once an Item goes into the Box? Update: SO I also started looking for the quantity (searching both entire files) as I figured that wouldnt change but I still can find any traces of the items in there is that even possible?

Is the modeling program actually up? The link just takes you to page 4 of the forums... Anyway was wondering if anyone else has made any progression on modifying spells or items directly. I'm pretty satisfied with the item collection I've managed to obtain so my new goal is to obtain the actual sword that Lord Gwyn uses when you fight him. It's the greatsword you can craft with his soul but enchanted. The enchant looks very similar to the Sunlight Blade enchant. So I've looked through my options and come down to this...
1) I can attempt to find the hex indicating Gwyn and see if there's a weapon code right there for it. Would probably take quite a while but we had success doing this in previous games to obtain boss related items.
2) Locate the hex for the sword and determine if there's a section which determines if the weapon has an aura on it. Locate the hex for the Sunlight Blade and determine which part of that hex represents the aura it bestows on a weapon. Combine the 2 and modify the duration and voila.
So as originally stated, if anyone has had any luck on modifying weapon variables or spell variables directly the information would definitely help in my pursuit of this as for now I think choice 2 is my best bet.

I don't really think you can edit items in that way.
I've done a bit of experimenting and found this:
The first three bits tell the item not only what level it is, but also what attribute it carries. For example, a normal long sword starts with the value 03 11 28. If you wanted to be cheap and get the achievement for maxing out a normal weapon without getting the proper embers, you could easily change that 28 to a 31 to get a Long Sword +14, level it up to +15, and reap the benefits. (I only say this because I figured you should know in case you want to get the achievements in a legit way. Giving yourself a +15 doesn't trigger the achievement.)
What do you do if you want, say, a crystal long sword? Add 100 (or 64 in hex) to those three bits. 03 11 28 becomes 03 11 8C and you have a crystal long sword.
Here's a list that covers all of the upgradable types:
Normal: DEC HEX
Crystal: +100 (+64)
Lightning: +200 (+C8)
Raw: +300 (+012C)
Magic: +400 (+0190)
Enchanted: +500 (+01F4)
Divine: +600 (+258)
Dark: +700 (+2BC)
Fire: +800 (+320)
Chaos: +900 (+384)
Other attributes, unfortunately, seem to be tied to the item and not stored in the save.
I've made a few other notes on the subject, but I don't know how much they would help here.
Hopefully that does help, though.

When i mod my save with the Dark Souls Editor .. it always corrupts my game .. why is it doing that now it never did it before .. i fell off a cliff and lost ll my stuff so now im at 0 souls and humanity idk how to use hex workshop but i have it can anyone help me plz??
also, im fighting Seth the Scaleless and i cant die because my health is at 1bil so i cant progress in the story, is there a way to lower my health so that he could kill me and i can finally be able to kill him??

Well in terms up upgrading I doubt I'll be very helpful, recently started my new game+ and sprinted through it to the final blacksmith so I could make the Gwyn sword so I'm missing all my embers...but with that being considered I do have a very large collection of weapons and/or armor I could contribute. Also I found a pretty unique vendor earlier today. Before you take the sewers up to Undeadburg from firelink shrine. there's a walkway that you can roll onto instead of heading up into the sewer entrance, the one with pillars actually supporting the sewer. There's a vendor at the end of it that sells unique armor, seemingly based off bosses that you've killed. I went by him today and got Gwyn, Gwyndolin, Ornstein, and Iron Golem armor sets.

I opened up my save that was corrupted, "file could not be loaded." Turns out the User_data file in the contents deleted itself 0.o
Tryed inserting the user_data from an older save that i backed up, but horizon didn't like it. Just gave me an error message. Oh well, gotta start a new game :P

Update of Weapon Modifications: Both Codes below are for Great Lord Greatsword +5 (Gwyn's Sword). The first is the item when in the first slot of bag space(character inventory). The second is the item when in first slot of bag space within bottomless bag. The underscores are only in place to provide a visual comparison.
1) 04D0D5 00000001 02B5C0D9 01000000000000 0190 000000 0640
2) 04D0D5 ________ 02B5C0D9 __000180000000 0190 000000 0600
The teal bytes at the beginning always represent the weapon. These will change based off of the number of upgrades the weapons has received. As Mr. Rouseau previously stated the upgrades go in a system of +100 for each upgrade path, then increase by 1-5 or 1-10 accordingly. For a non-leveled up sword it would simply be 04D0D0. Lv 1 upgrade: 04D0D1, etc. Since this weapon was created from a boss soul however it is unique and cannot increase or decrease to a different path of upgrades(using the 100 scale), so you can't produce a "Chaos Great Lord Greatsword".
The bytes in green represent the items inventory position, previously I had thought this was set in stone but after some more recent testing the number seems to change depending on whether the weapon is in your bag, inventory, equipped, etc.
The red bytes represent durability. This will be the best way to locate you weapons/armor. Bang your weapon against the wall to get a non-common number, say 578, convert to hex, search, GG. The most effective sequence I found to search with was 010000000000XXXX, where the 4 Xs represent your durability, this will greatly help to weed out other factors that may share a number with your durability.
The bytes in yellow are only relevant if the weapon is within your characters inventory and not in the bottomless bag. When the item is in the bottomless bag, the yellow bytes are removed and the orange bytes are added to the item code.
The final set of values I'm still not 100% on. I've seen this particular sword with 0640 listed after while equipped, 0600 while in bottomless, and then 0200 while in inventory but not equipped. I feel the values may have something to do with whether the item is equipped and which slot it's in but I haven't tested it yet.
I'd like to specially thank Mr. Rouseau for the earlier work he did with weapons to help me get this going.
Edit: For anyone looking to determine the hex for a weapon not in your possession you can just drop in guessed codes until you're within the ballpark (spears, swords, etc). If the code you enter doesn't correspond to an actual in game item the save will still load, your item will just be tagged as ??? with zeros for all stats.

Been playing around with values some more. While the information above is obviously valuable for importing in items I still haven't found anything relating to the actual stats of the item (damage, resists, stability, etc.) If anyone has any luck with that please drop me a line...
Edit: Was talking with idlehands earlier and we've come to the conclusion that the variables determining weapon statistics is most likely within the .iso for the game. It saddens me to say this but seeing as neither of us have been able to find any hex relating to the weapon data/statistics, this info being stored on the .iso is the probable reason.

I don't really see the point in all of this item modding if the fucking save file won't load or gets corrupted every time you try to edit something.... LOL, what a waste of time all this is.
I have my USER_DATA and USER_DATA0a files backed up and they work when I inject them in to a new save file but the second I save and reload the file just won't load at all. This means I have to beat the entire last portion of the game in a single sitting and once I beat it, my save data is garbage. Try working on the corrupted save files first before going all fucking crazy on modding shit that won't matter in the end any way.

i havent had an issue with corrupted saves ever since i lowered the ammount of souls i had. having 999,999,999 souls seems to mess up the save. try lowering it to 0000FF00 and see if that helps.

Dragged and drop my save file into quick STFS Repair after the beep the file size stayed the same I load the save and play alittle.Then Signout in the middle of playing. Then I took the save and started extracting the userdate and injecting it. Then user let Horizon resign/rehash.

IMHO sometimes is more important than upgrading stats, since is a frequent problem for all of us: if you accidentally attack some NPC merchant or trainer, he comes hostile FOREVER and never stops attacking the player until you kill him, losing all possibility to get some unique items.
I would request specially about Laurentius the pyromancer, found at depths area which I accidentally attacked trying to liberate from a barrel and had to kill him.

hey i downloaded this program when first released and it worked fine but now it seems every time i mod a new save i keep corrupting -.-'' it worked fine before but now it just keeps crashing i used 4 different readers (modio 2.35,modio 3.0, horizon, and USBXTAFGUI_v44) all still corrupt i always make backups so i have an unmodded file then a modded it seems to be this program because if i put the modded one in the usb it corrupts but if i just replace the unmodded one my game works fine.... help?

I still don't understand where everyone is having problems with corruption, during my testing last night I edited and reloaded my save well over 20+ times alone and never received a corruption. I open the save with modio, extract my user data, change my values, save, redo checksum, save again, replace the user data in modio, rehash/resign, save to usb. my saves been the 4.5 mb since i started and I've never had problems with that either. I honestly think it has to do with doing it all in offline. I do every hex while I'm in a party with friends or even alone and have never had problems. The only time I've seen corruptions is what I'm editing a save in online mode...

I'm looking to redesign the app to make it more efficient as the current method is slow and seemingly unsupportive in comparison to what i could make if the conditions are right.

It's weird because I have a save file just before heading in to the Darkwood Garden and as soon as I kill the giant butterfly there and go to quit and save...it corrupts the file upon load. Maybe I'll try doing it in offline mode or something....that means you have to always be in party chat even if it's by yourself.
But yeah, mine is corrupting every time I save and quit...meaning I have to complete the rest of the game in a single sitting, which is like 20-30 more hours of game play all at once...it's not gonna happen unless someone finds a way around it. Also, I still don't understand how that one guy is keeping his file size at 8.5. As soon as you tamper with the file (meaning injecting ANYTHING in to it) the size decreases from 8.5 to 4.5 megs...right now mine is at 4.99 megs but I can tell when it gets corrupted because it will go down to 4.6...that means it's no good...mine has to be at 4.99 to load.
What I've been doing is just injecting the USER_DATA and USER_DATA0a in to a fresh 8.5 meg file and it lowers it to 4.99 when rehashing with Horizon. It will load, it just won't save properly afterwards. If I use that quick STFS thing or whatever, it corrupts the file and changes it to 4.60 megs.
I really can't understand how people are making this work except for the whole offline thing. I've been playing online, I just modded my souls so I can buy crap without having to grind and I edited my crafting materials so I can upgrade whatever I want and it's still corrupting. I'm not even doing anything crazy with it...just trying to save time on grinding out souls / crafting items.
Any way, whatever, maybe ill try playing in offline mode and perhaps just trying to inject USER_DATA instead of the USER_DATA0a file along with it... I was having issues early on with Horizon and Modio ended up working for me so that's why I went that route. Also I never touch the USER_DATA0a file. It has similarities to the USER_DATA file but I just leave it alone and everything seems to work fine. I've been continually playing off my usb on the 4.5meg save though and thats been fine. I've also had luck with online though. Generally I'll finish editing my save and then load it up while still in offline mode, once it loads i save/quit. Then I'll dashboard, leave xbox party, and load the game in online play and it works fine. If I want to edit my file again I'll save/quit, dashboard and join a file, and then reload the save in offline mode. Save/quit to make sure its designated as an offline save and I can hex it fine again and reload it with no corruptions.

With the weapons I was working with last night they were in a general range but bookmarks were inefficient. When I swapped out all the swords I was working with for 6 new random assorted weapons the bookmarks I originally had for the swords weren't accurate anymore. I had assumed the new weapons would be directly in place of them but some were slightly off whereas others were in a different location all together. It seems like the location of the weapons within the hex will change dependant on if they are in the bottomless bag or within your inventory in addition to changing depending on what weapon you're looking for. I think the most viable solution would be able to map out the codes that indicate the actual weapon you're looking for as the location in hex will change but the basic weapon ID will not.

If I'm not mistaken the rest of the data is in regards to inventory position which would cause all kinds of problems with the save editor...You should be working with the item and location separately not combining them

with this in mind the only viable option in doing what you asked would be to create a pre-modded save with all the items already in inventory, in which case you'd still have to go through and modify every variable indicating the position and order it was obtained...seems like a lot of work when its already simple enough to just mod in an item you need. plus with a premade save with every item in the game you tend to take away from the actual gameplay...just doesn't make much sense to play through an RPG with the same armor/weapon the entire game because its "the best"

well i hit an odd snag with my structure. It seems that between two saves there is one spot that has slightly more data than the other. The odd thing is that i cant seem to find any kind of pointer as to length of the data. Between the two i see two values that decrease by too yet it's the one with the extra data added.

Yeah I stopped injecting the USER_DATA0a ...that seemed to work...also you're right, you need to load your file after it's been injected in to a fresh file then quickly save and quit and re-load it again otherwise corruption will occur....either that or I just got lucky in the past 10 minutes. I beat Moonlight Butterfly and saved right after, no corruption...which seemed to be what was trigger my corruption off initially. The problem is now I'm SOOOO fucking paranoid about corruption every time I beat a boss I collect their treasure or whatever, then save, quit and go on my computer and back my USER_DATA file up. Whatever, I'm happy it's working but I doubt I'll be editing my save file again...at least not until the very end of the game when I find better crafting materials to use.
I've been playing online (but I took my character off the leader boards at the start of the game) because I knew I would be cheating. Some retard in 2nd place in the book of the guilty has all his stats maxed on Slvl 35 with 65535 HP...fucking loser man. But he does have as sweet as death knight armor on, I've fought those guys and they're fucking nuts but I wish I had that armor...looks sweet. Not sure where he found it but if it's in New Londo Ruins, I must have missed it or something. Right now I'm using Havel's full set with Havel's Ring with the Lightning Spear and I must say, it rapes the shit outta this game pretty hard... I beat Four Kings with zero trouble with it.

I still don't understand where everyone is having problems with corruption, during my testing last night I edited and reloaded my save well over 20+ times alone and never received a corruption. I open the save with modio, extract my user data, change my values, save, redo checksum, save again, replace the user data in modio, rehash/resign, save to usb. my saves been the 4.5 mb since i started and I've never had problems with that either. I honestly think it has to do with doing it all in offline. I do every hex while I'm in a party with friends or even alone and have never had problems. The only time I've seen corruptions is what I'm editing a save in online mode...
I thought the same thing. All i edited was user_data01 for souls. I played my game for a few days. Then one day, poof, user_data is gone and save is corrupted. It will happen sooner or later, now that your save is ~5mb

Not sure that's true. As I posted a couple pages back, there are 6 bytes after the quantity and before the inventory position number that appear to also be specific for each item (000330 for the posted Titanite). I don't think this 6 byte sequence has anything to do with inventory position. Not sure why people are leaving this off of item IDs and whether that will cause problems later. Can anyone confirm that the 000330 sequence in the Titanite is not dependent on inventory sequence and is in fact unique to this item?
I think all Item IDs should be posted like this:
[email protected]@000330%%010000000000000000 000000
Where @@ is quantity and %% is inventory location. That way, we can copy and paste Item ID's in sequence and then go back and edit quantities inventory location manually. As far as I can tell, only the quantity and inventory location are variables in this sequence. The 046A and 000330 are unique to the particular item.

Well where I'm at now I'm basically done with the game, managed to level each covenant to get their goodies and obtain any armors/weapons i had interest in so right now I have a back up save compressed in a .rar file in the event that anything does happen. Settled on the Warriors of Sunlight so I could use the Sunlight Spear and just been helping friends. Was in darkmoon for a while and I'd run around with a Chaos Sword and full ninja outfit punishing the "sinners" but it's not as fun when you're an unstoppable ninja that doesn't take damage so I'm sticking to helping people.

can anyone tell me why my save is corrupting? i have a working one saved. when i load it and start the game it works fine, but when i goto exit and save the game the new save is corrupt. so i cant save any new progress on my chracter? any ideas on how to fix this? i tried using modio and horison. and both together lol. not sure what i did wrong. and why it loads at first but future saves corrupt.

If you inject/replace the USER_DATA back into the save after modding it then the save corrupts 95% of the time. You have to mod the save WITHOUT injecting the USER_DATA...

Here is my process for manually modding the save:
1. Rest at a bonfire, then Quit the game.
2. Extract your DRAKS0005 file from your USB.
3. Open the DRAKS0005 file in Horizon or Modio and click the Contents tab.
4. Extract the USER_DATA that your character is stored in, then close your DRAKS0005 file.
5. Open both the USER_DATA and DRAKS0005 in Hex Workshop.
6. Edit the USER_DATA first (DON'T FIX THE CHECKSUM YET).
7. Go to your DRAKS0005 and Search for your characters name (make sure to click the Unicode String box).
8. Make sure you find your name with your stats above the name (there should be 3 of your name in the DRAKS0005 file).
9. Copy/Paste the edited info from USER_DATA to DRAKS0005.
10. Go back to USER_DATA and copy the Checksum and search for it in the DRAKS0005 file.
11. Calculate the Checksum of USER_DATA and replace the old Checksum in DRAKS0005 with the new one.
12. Save, Rehash and Resign the save and replace it back on your USB (DON'T ADD THE USER_DATA BACK INTO THE DRAKS0005 FILE).

i did alittle scanning and some people are saying that once ur save goes down too 5mbs it will eventually corrupt. well i made multiple saves and saved there time and date and my file goes from 5mb most of the time then back up too 8mb then 5mb then 8mb again. so is there anyway of saving my last 8mb save? and stop it from corrupting in the future?

I've modded my save about 30 times now and it hasn't corrupted since I started modding the save itself instead of the USER_DATA... My save has been 5mb since the first time I modded it.
EDIT: As a side note if you equip the Dark Mask, Ornstein's Armor, Havel Gauntlets and Havel Leggings your character will look BADASS :P

ok im not sure whats corrupting my saves, but my latest one does work, but some of my old ones are corrupt. i also noticed that they corrupt everytime now when i use the exit the game after u die glitch when ever the little loading bonfire comes backup. it worked the entire game up until the capra demon now it corrupts everytime i try it. but i guess im gonna continue for now and make extra backups just in case.

There is no offset for item discovery. That is auto calculated based on your humanity so increase that and you upp the item rate. As for arrows, search for the item id and you will find your quantity.
:P i need to see if i can make glowing neon green hair.

With the weapons I was working with last night they were in a general range but bookmarks were inefficient. When I swapped out all the swords I was working with for 6 new random assorted weapons the bookmarks I originally had for the swords weren't accurate anymore. I had assumed the new weapons would be directly in place of them but some were slightly off whereas others were in a different location all together. It seems like the location of the weapons within the hex will change dependant on if they are in the bottomless bag or within your inventory in addition to changing depending on what weapon you're looking for. I think the most viable solution would be able to map out the codes that indicate the actual weapon you're looking for as the location in hex will change but the basic weapon ID will not.
Aye exactly as I made clear in one of my earlier postings with the findings to item swapping. As for corruptions I have had offline saves corrupt as well it has nothing to do with the mode more to do with the files.

Don't mean to be a nuisance but could you be a little more specific? I found the id for both types of arrows that I own, however I couldn't find a hex value matching my arrow quantity neither before or after the id. I'm sure I'm making a simple mistake, and would love some help.

That's what you've been doing? I've been replacing the USER_DATA file into the Drak Save in modio and its been working for me this whole time lol. Weird how some methods work for for some people and not for others...

Seems that eyebrows dont change color with you so no glowing eyebrows. :P seems eye color can go the extremes as welll. I made him have a glowing white eyris. Too bad it's only visible in human form.

The reason I ask is that I added 99 of each upgrade material to my current save. Worked perfectly - I show 99 of each in my inventory. Problem is that when I go to upgrade a weapon, those added materials do NOT show up as available for use. Also, you cannot drop them. They are "there" but completely unusable. Has anyone actually been able to use upgrade materials they added via hex editing?
Also, weapons I added can be equipped but cannot be repaired. It takes the souls for the repair but the weapon remains there as if it still needs repair.

edit: i was just looking through the list on page 1 and I have quite a large chunk of the weapons we're missing IDs for, like I said though I won't have much time until friday or so. if it makes things easier I can organize the items I have that we're missing from the list in the order they appear and the list inside my bottomless bag and send you then send you the user data, otherwise i can make some time friday to pull out values

3. Inject modded USER_DATA file back in using La Fluffie
4. Close the save file (La Fluffie automatically saves changes when you close the save)
5. Fix hash with 360 Hash Block Calculator
You should see no change in file size. I've been using this method and I've had no corruption at all and I've modded my save at least 30 times and exited, reloaded my save at least fifty times.

1. USb flash drive and copy my save from the xbox.
2. open said flash drive with modio(I have my gamer profile copied onto my flash as well)
3. Browse to dark souls
4.Pull Drak005.....something along those lines(back up into two folder one for modded and one unmodded)
5. open said drak005 with modio extract my save
6. edit with hex work shop, md5 as posted everyone
7. open drak005 and replace save. rehash and save to my profile on the flash drive check to see if all is well and then
8. WIN!!!

everytime i hit a significant checkpoint in either my game progress or hex progress ill map a compressed backup of my dark_005 save file to make sure i dont accidently delete it and besides that I've been only using the USB, havent bothered moving the save back to the 360 hard drive since ive been pulling it to hex so frequently.

Oh ok. Just asking. I was wondering if it could've helped for those who have the issue. And I usually keep playing directly from the Flash drive as well. I wonder when I can get those glowing eyes and hair that i seen a few post back
