Do you AGREE or DISAGREE? Are we, as gamers, getting lazy when it comes to playing Games? Do we depend too much on save editing etc to get through our games? Does anyone really play games legitimately anymore?

What do YOU think?

(Just for the record, I support modding in all its shapes and forms. I'm just curious as to what everyone else thinks about his.) :-l

I am down with playing Legitimate or modding my saves. It opens more doors to knowledge as well as giving us the edge to have more fun and replay value.

I play it legit first and then mess around with modding after beating the game.

If it makes gamers lazy, then I must be the laziest gamer of them all.

I've been cheating on games since the Game Genie days. I've owned and been through most of the cheat devices that have come out since.

Nowadays, I do save editing. To me it only adds on to the fun of the game and of course makes replayable.

I consider it more of "Game Enhancing" than cheating.

Creative and driven is a damn good way to put it!

Ah... I'm already having nostalgia about my cmgsccc.com days!

Lazy would only be the correct term if there was some sort of ulterior motive to gaming. Eg: modding to get achievements alone and not to play the game in a more advanced way. I too had a Game Genie and since then have played both vanilla and in a modded sense. Some games are more fun when modded and some are better vanilla. To the people who bitch and moan about us, it's our way of paying and showing who we are. Modding is fun and will continue to grow. Count on it ;)

Personally, I only mod a game to make it more fun for me, or I can't be bothered dying 20 billion times because of the game being cheap with enemies etc.
It's each to their own I suppose, some games I wouldn't have played all the way through without mods because they were either cheap or took too long to unlock features I felt defined the game.

I consider it more of "Game Enhancing" than cheating.
Totally agree with this.

I hate cheaters! I don't even know why I joined this site.

In all seriously it all depends on YOU. As long as you don't ruin someone else experience, mainly online games.

For me I'm 50-50 sometimes I play legit sometimes I play for fun and by fun I mean walk around not dying and not running out of ammo.

It depends on the game. For a game like, let's say, Assault Horizon: AC I don't need to cheat, 'cause it's already sick as fuck. Generally though, I just add money. For RPGS, I just add more spells/MP. To me, modding makes a game much, much more fun.

It really depends. I personally play my games legit first, then mod. I agree with Ren, it adds replay value to any game; it also gives a deep look into what might have been planned for the game but never made the cut (Ocarina of Time, for instance) or even stuff that IS in the game and nobody knew about. Also, if I can help it, I always mod my saves myself, because I feel like using editors makes my skills rusty (of course, there are plenty of exceptions, likes games that have security, though I'm figuring out how to fix that as well). I do think it's lazy when somebody mods a game from the beginning without even attempting it normally.

It really depends on the type of person. I personally I like to see what all I can unlock before I play and then play legit to see what can't be gotten without modding. Also one of the reasons it take me so long to submit things.

I like to play a game like watching a movie...over and pretty quick; and if I like it, I'll watch (play) it again. I'm just too busy most of the time doing something else. Of course, this is the "campaign" I am talking about.

I was always lazy, the modding had nothing to do with it =3
but seriously... I take it as a time saver... when I was young I spent days lvling my chars in rpgs so I could have an edge in the upcoming fights... as I grow older I dont want to lose precious time wasting in xp or gold farming... just hack the hell out of it \o/

That is exactly what I do
