I would like to know if the hex codes for a familiar are different from that of a characters if not could someone point me in the right direction

The code makeup for a pet is the same for a weapon or any other item. A characters stats are not related.
If you were to modify a pet, it would be similar to a weapon as they usually are used as an extra weapon.

Look at all the other tutorials in this section. They should have more than enough information on this subject.
