You're not going to believe what the most popular games on Xbox Live were in 2011.
OK, maybe you'll believe it. According to Microsoft's count of worldwide unique users for the year, Call of Duty: Black Ops (http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops) topped the list of retail titles, followed by Modern Warfares 3 (http://joystiq.com/game/modern-warfare-3) and 2 (http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2), Halo Reach (http://joystiq.com/game/halo-reach), and Battlefield 3 (http://joystiq.com/game/battlefield-3).

On the Arcade side, the top seller was Pinball FX 2 (http://joystiq.com/game/pinball-fx-2), followed by Full House Poker (http://joystiq.com/game/full-house-poker), Castle Crashers (http://joystiq.com/game/castle-crashers) (which came out in 2008), Fruit Ninja Kinect (http://joystiq.com/game/fruit-ninja-kinect), and From Dust (http://joystiq.com/game/from-dust). Beyond Good & Evil HD (http://joystiq.com/game/beyond-good-and-evil-hd) hit #20 on the list, which seems good, but too close for comfort, for those of us hoping it would be a strong indicator of interest in the sequel.

You can find full top twenty lists for retail, arcade, and XBLIG, along with Games for Windows Live and Windows Phone (Surprise! Angry Birds!) at Major Nelson's blog. (http://majornelson.com/2012/01/06/top-games-of-2011/)

That just proves some things to me. Game Informer (got today) March 2012 issue 227 pages 20-25 are correct. All of these games have no staying power and the shooters are based on pg 24&25 or a nice flow chart they did. The best indie games are zombies, miners, and avatars. Angry birds is on way to many phones.

To how I am. I do not have any special phone that can play any of those games. In the indie scene I aim for RPGs like Aphelion, BoD, and Wizard's Keep; there were not many in 2011. XBL games I aim for updated remakes. Normal games I see only 4 that I played online last year. Yes, I played some of the CoDs, but they were SP or 16man system links.
