This is a question that my son brought up to me today, his birthday is a month from today and he really liked the game but wanted to beat/impress his friends while playing "Skylanders" with them. If i may ask the request, Is it possible? I know the "portal" connects to the pc and the figure code goes from there. But if anyone could try and make somthing, or know of somthing. Please answer, i know it would be a great gift and Thomas would really appreciate it.

My wife is ape shit over these things. I've heard a guy did it and received a cease-and-desist from the developer about posting his finding on the internet.

Hm, dissipointing, I dont get why though. Once in your posession it is yours. I would still like to find one, now i just know it'll be a lot harder.

I think it would be really neat. All these threads about modding tools for this and that; it would be very awesome to see some kind of exploit for the figures or the portal to be made. Apparently the guy who figured it out was able to somehow make the portal think it had any figure he wanted on it.

Yeah i get how someone could do that, I really wish i could of seen his outcome one it. My son apparently loves his "Chop-Chop" so thats what im looking to mod, I hope someone has something to help me do it.

@Steve and any other requesting something
we need a savegame and the stats in those savegames...
that's what 69bigplayer69 meant....
if you want something modded or figured out you need to give us something to work with... as not every is in possession of every game out there ^-^'''

Thats the problem with this, the figure data isnt stored on the game, its stored on the figures themslves.

well... i some how find that hard to believe...
do you have the xbox version of the game ?!... if so.. do you know where to look for your save files ?!

Well Actually it does save on the figure, one of the strong suites fo the game. I tested it going from my 3ds to xbox to my friends wii version of the game, it kept stats as normal. Although in about 5 minutes i could get a gamesave out if you want to try.

well it doesn't hurt to have a look at...
if it really does only save to the figures then there would be only 2 options left...
1st...
mod the values while they are in memory... not possible without a dev/jtag/rgh xbox... even then it will be a little bit hard for most people to do...
for the wii it should be a little bit easier... but also only for modded wii's...
for the ps3... i don't think it is possible atm without elf mod...
easiest would be the pc version... here you can run a memory editor(like cheat engine) and see if you can do something...
as for the 3ds... i don't know... i don't have it... (need to get it though ^_^''')
2nd...
this method is probably a no go for almost everyone... as you need to find a way to extract those information from the figures...
maybe it is possible with the pc version... don't know how to do that though...

I never requested anything. I was just explaining to the OP how I had heard someone had figured out how to mod these things.

@MadeGuy
uh... i think you misunderstood that part...
no one was blaming for anything....
the problem was that the OP asked for something... but didn't give us anything to work with...
as we don't have that game...
so this was actually directed to the OP... and others who make these kind of threads before reading the rules...
actually you don't have to read the rules to know what you need to post if you're requesting something... that should be common sense ^_^'

I am unsure if anyone has started modding this, but here is file that has just started out best of luck to you all!

The game has just started beat the first chapter, one of those figure things were used in the game progression and the figure used was ding-ring. it was pretty much just to make the file open to give people a chance to mod and tinker with it. again sorry I did not put the info of the save onto the file in the first places. thanks for the reminder Cybersam

i guess no one has started this... as i don't really know if some one here has the game (i mean of those who can mod ^_^')
and frankly i don't want to spend so much money for this game just to research it... maybe when the price isn't this high anymore i'll consider buying it... but atm... no chance...
as for the save file...
can you post some info is much appreciated as we can't really know what to look for there...
as the figure stuff is save inside the figures them selves you probably need to post some info that is related to overall progress or something...
The actual figures have a eprom that stores information. There is a hack that allows you to mod your character stats.
Have read here
http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forums&file=viewtopic&topic=6515&forum=86
The editor was never completed (as activision stopped it) and the existing code has some limitations:
1. It will not work with XBox360 portals (did not finish this part)
2. The documentation for how the checksums work is incomplete. If you use a hex editor to change the hat or the heroics completed the program does not know how to compute the checksum required for these fields. So the skylanders game will reject your character if you change these fields.
All that is needed is some genius finish it off and make it a little more user friendly :)

there is no real need for a genius...
i could try it if i had the game test around with... ^_^
even if i had the game i'm not sure if it would work without drivers... as i don't have those... ^_^'''

Maybe someone smarter than me then :)
Ive uploaded the source which includes the drivers and complied exe. (link in my post above) His work was not finished so it does need a little more work to get if working just yet.

So nobody ever bothered to finish that program that was in the works or write one of their own? Is everyone afraid of Activision now or what? I might be able to find at least some saves for these games to get the achievements easier, but it'd be more fun to just have maxed out (or beyond max) characters.
