Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
I personally have never liked the idea of not having a disk I can touch, see and feel. I purchase DLC's for games I like but have always wanted the actual hard copy. I have six kids and all of them are XBOX'ers including myself. It is nice to be able to share the game amongst us all although in the past, I have bought multiple copies of games that my sons and I all liked playing together like Gears of war, Borderlands, MW3, and so on. Perhaps if the new XBOX does not have a disk drive then maybe the games of the future will come on a different platform as well which would be nice for the sake of damage control as disks are somewhat fragile and tend to crack. Thanks for the update.

This will work as well as Microsoft's HD-DVD we know where that went and i won't buy a Console based on Digital media"except when i bought my RGH console".....
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
That would be the dumbest marketing idea ever. All of those puurchased games would become useless. Unless they implement a type of way to download the digital copy of games like Playstation did with the psp to ps vita. and if not that mean im gonna have to have both systems connected...
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
iive read that the new 360 is the one with no drive not the 720
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
From a cost standpoint they save the money from the disc and all its related costs. No shipping, printed manuals, cases ect.
It is a way to increase profit for them so it will be an option I am sure they think about.
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
Im not to sure if i like the idea of an xbox with no disc drive.
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
It takes me 45 minutes to download and 8 gig 360 game. I have 35 megs up and down. However it is true that if the new 360 goes only digital then a lot of people are gonna suffer. Most people have basic DSL which is only 1 to 3 megs. Would take anywhere from 3 to 12 hours to download a game. Of course with verizon offering speeds that turn peoples connections into virtual servers then maybe going all digital will work. Have to wait and see.
Re: Report: Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive Has Durango lost its drive?
If Microsoft goes digital. Not only are they dumb, local retail game stores are surely to go out of business. They will not be able to make money off selling the physical revenue to a customer, thus not being able to promote game Ads and thus losing profit for not only the company but the store itself. That being said, there are also plenty of hackers on the Xbox network who will be waiting on this type of thing to make out like bandits. The only way I see Microsoft pulling this off is if there is a built in encryption in every game, and that would cost money for Microsoft to hire people to do encryptions for them for every new game they plan to release. However, people who normally have a good download speed should be fine, what Microsoft SHOULD do is release a console for people who want to go digital and those who want to stay with the traditional disc drive. However, I do see the benefits of cutting cost on making CDs. Labels and cases and such. It would also help the enviroment, but putting that aside. Going towards the actual physical structure of the new console. It would leave room for many improvements, such as the heat sink issue with the old Xbox. I hope to god Micro fixes that issue. I see the pros and cons of this, but none of them weigh out evenly, since someone is going to suffer.
