Microsoft Announce Halo 4 Live Action Series
Microsoft have given the green light to a web series titled Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which will air on Machinima in the run up to the November release of Halo 4. This reportedly marks Microsoft’s “largest investment” in live-action, with the series being comprised of five 15 minute episodes.
Forward Unto Dawn will follow a UNSC Cadet, showing how he is inspired by everyone’s favourite Spartan, Master Chief. The events of the web series will be closely tied to the Halo 4 plotline.
Fans have cried out for more live-action Halo for years, “Every time we do a live-action commercial the audience says, ‘We want to see more so that we can explore the Halo universe a little bit more’,” Frank O’Connor of 343 explained. “We needed a way to ensure there was a way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated. As a result, the Web series is ‘an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the (Halo) universe’.”
“The Halo 4 web series is not just a marketing piece to promote the game.” was the word from 343 Director of Franchise Business Management Matt McCloskey, who went on to say “We wanted to go way beyond that and transform this live-action exploration from advertising into a full standalone product that people will enjoy.”
