Is it safe?
does anyone know if its safe to play retail copies of games before the official release i know lots of people who do it every year with call of duty and being that i run a game shop i have the opportunity all the time but im always too worried to try at the moment ive got darksiders 2 and it kills me to have to wait
everyone i know who has been banned after playing games early was playing backups so thats inconclusive evidence was hoping someone here would know more

Re: Is it safe?
At least play it offline without Xbox Live connected and if your that worried make a 48 hour profile to play it online just in case. Then again people do play games early all the time online but Microsoft can't really do anything about it since they don't know if you were asked to test the games or not.

Re: Is it safe?
Considering my sponsorship with an online retailer. I get my games 4 days to 2 weeks weeks early. I've never been banned. I've been playing them for years. Of course I have proof of purchase and that it is a legitimate game.

Re: Is it safe?
I've played many games early without getting banned. There was an issue back when Halo ODST or some other Halo game was due to be released as many people were getting banned for playing it whilst connected to xbox live weeks before it was officially released. It later came out that most of those people were playing pirated copies and Microsoft were able to tell, everyone who wasn't found to be playing a pirated copy was fine though. And if you even have proof of purchase then its even less likely that you will get banned.
