The new patch caused it... Because of corrupted data from getting the update in the middle of playing on your character.

so basically the best way to be safe for now until the fix comes out is play by your self and not public or play with your friends that dont use mods

This was most likely done by accident when someone seen the Badass mode and thought it was a good idea to check it, this is about as irresponsible as Zed starting the zombie apocalypse.
For shame. All this time I didn`t know :(
It deleted my save once, but I didn`t know it was a widespread glitch.
