You forgot to say SAVE after you drag the dat file in step 10. This was messin me up man. I know we're all busy but this was a error that could have saved me a ton of time. Thanks for the tut, just thought id point this out in case anyone else was having issues like I was.
Now for my problem, I did all the above steps correctly now after some trials and tribulations, the problem is that when I loaded up my save the money that I modded was not modded at all. Nothing changed. I tried to open all 40+ files in the editor but none of them worked excepted the one thats the biggest (in size). I dont know what im doing wrong but I really wonna get max money in this game. Any help given will be greatly appreciated.
If anyone wants to do the mod for me I'll appreciate that too. The ONLY thing I was trying to mod was the money to MAX. The link to my save is below, quote my post if anyone does do this for me.

OK guys I found how to avoid the freezing white screen after "Press Start"
I modded my save at the beginning of the game, no freeze. Then I played 6+ hours and tried modding again by doing the same process, it froze on white screen.
In fact, as Idle said in page 3 or 4 I think, if you're modding a save that is well advanced in the game, you'll have several dozen .DAT files.
To avoid the freezing screen, you'll need to try to open each .DAT file in the save editor (at least try those that are > ~30 Kb) and apply the same modification to each one that actually opens.
For example, il you want to add 999,999 gold, you'll need to add 999,999 gold on each .DAT file that you'll be able to open in the editor among the dozens of files.
Then, repeat Step 9 for each .DAT file that you have modded!
And then continue normally.
I was able to mod my 8 hrs save game, and I had to mod 3 .DAT files.
So mod your save as early as possible. The later you try to mod, the more .DAT files you'll have to try with the editor.

i know this thread is fairly old but i hope someone still watched it i did all the steps tried 18 times before bugging you but when i use the offzip for the 00000126.dat i get no .dat files i get 6 files and all of them are .vap or .sdb files

never mind found the problem wrong version of offzip/packzip
