It's all there in my post. There's various links that lead to the answer of that question.

How do you exactly reduce the ATB cost for skills? I've been trying to figure it out and either increase the cost, or make it the default cost. Dx
Do i have to make the Hexadecimal dip over 200 before it starts to reduce the skill cost, or am i going about it all wrong?
I know this is a stupid question, but neither Horizon nor Modio will let me re-insert my modded and re-encrypted APP.DAT. With Horizon I get an error, and with Modio, the attempts to modify the package contents (i.e., APP.DAT) just don't "take". I'm at my wits end here...what do I do?
First of all I would like to thank all the people who've invested their time into this tutorial. It's very detailed and easy to use. However I'm having trouble getting it to work.
What I'm trying to do, is edit abilities. For now just random ones, just to get the hang of how this works as I am new to hex editing. My problem is this, when I'm done editing the save and load it up again, nothing changes and all my abilities are just as they were before. And If I try to deviate from the tutorial, my save just comes up corrupted.
I really need help getting this to work. Learning to edit abilities in this game is very important to me, as i'm enjoying this game a lot but the endless grind is really killing it for me. So I would really appreciate some help with this. To make it easier for you guys to spot what i'm doing wrong, I'll post the steps i made.
I extract my APP.DAT from the container file to my desktop using Horizon, decrypt the file with Jappi's tool, load it in HxD, change an ability following the tutorial, hit either the save icon or use the "save as" option, re-encrypt the file, then use it to replace the old one in horizon and then save rehash/resign (I've also tried not re-encrypting and not rehash/resigning but that didn't work either.). I'm not sure if I did something wrong here or if the problem lies elsewhere but I would really like some help with this. If any additional information is needed, let me know and I'll post it.
Okay, so I got it to work now I think. I still have one question though. From what I gathered reading through the topic, adding abilities is problematic, but what about changing one ability into another? Like say attack or blizzard into elementaga or disaster? Would that work? And if it does, what if the ability I change from is in a different category then the ability I change to? Will it automatically adjust it when I load the game or do they heve to be in the same category to begin with? If anyone could answer those questions it would be much appreciated.
Changing an ability is perfectly fine. That's the fun part of this, being able to change default stuff into different things.
That's great, it'll be fun messing around with some abilities and getting the most powerful ones to max level. Elementaga takes 465 playthroughs to fully level, I mean that's completely and utterly insane. Who in their right mind would wanna do that? Now, thanks to this tutorial I'll be able to get it any time I want. Great work guys, it's very helpful.
Hey all.
I'm getting really annoyed and frustrated with the final dungeon farming of a specific ability, namely "Ice Blitz". I've had to reload the game hundreds of time just to get about 10 Ice Blitz abilities to drop. Their drop rate is just atrocious despite having Beggar's Beads on. I can easily farm all other abilities. Even getting Element / Elementa from the angel enemies is easier than getting ice blitz to drop from the blue demon enemies.
Another issue is I have to farm God at end of game on Hard Mode about 40,000 times to get one Elementga to max level. Since a speed run is about 3 hours on Hard Mode, multiply that by 40,000 playthroughs. Ugh. Not gonna happen.
I would love to be able to mod / change 3 of my ice blitz to level 1 max, upgrade them legit (non modded) for ATB reduction, then mod them again from base level 2 to max level 2, upgrade them legit again in-game, then mod them from base level 3 to max level 3. Ditto for Elementga skill except do this all the way from level 1 to level 5.
Anyways, I was wondering if there is any download for Bruteforce since I am a PS3 user. I need Bruteforce to prepare my save data for the rest of the tutorial on 1st post of this thread- replace Horizon with Bruteforce. Problem is, I spent hours googling for it and all websites that pop up that list Bruteforce downloads direct me to a website for "Aldostools" but the download link there is broken / "Error! Not found!". So no place to download Bruteforce. Do any of you guys know where I can get it now?
So another thing I want to ask, and I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I think it's worth asking anyway. Is it possible to remove locked abilities from garbs? Or at least change the meshes/textures of one garb to another? From what I gathered all that stuff is hardcoded but just on the off chance that I'm wrong...
Not sure if it's actually possible to alter -those- abilities, or rather the Garbs themselves, but you can at least get those Abilities on OTHER things besides the Garbs. So you're not required to wear that specific Garb to get the Ability.
That's true, but alot of garb unique abilities are not on any of the lists in this thread (like Darkness, Ashura, Magic slash, Siren Strike). And the main reason I want to do it anyway, is just because there are alot of very cool looking garbs with terrible abilities locked on them. So I just wanted to see if I could remove them from there. But no big deal, I'm already able to add alot of cool stuff that I normally wouldn't have.
Is there a way to buff health using hex, like say the way you could search for gil and then change the numbers in the file. I saw someone had asked this many pages back but there was no response. Also, is there a way to buff mag and str as well?
Thank you for this post very helpful
I'm trying to do the hex editing and it always shows up as corrupted. I'm not sure why. Could anyone help me with this?
I can't find this. I did a search through google after not finding it here and it sent me to a page I cannot access... details are:

I guess it's there, but I just can't access it.
I've been trying to hex edit but my file keeps showing up corrupt after I make a few changes. All I really want is to increase my stats like magic, str, health and add gil. EP would be cool but I've sort of settled on the idea that I'll be doing more than one game so that really isn't a concern if I can just get the other buffs.
Thanks!
It seems that the Cryska's Garbs list & Kloeni's Weapon list are not accessible anymore.
Is there a way to copy / paste the information here, since it's related to this post ?
I'm trying to find the HEX code for unique ability, like Magic Slash, Darkness, Ashura, Siren Strike, etc.
I'm sure there's a way :)
Any one ?
Im having the same problem as other users here, the garbs and weapons lists as well as Echelo's editor is all blocked to me which makes it hard to hex a save without id's :P
Does anyone know how to reset the game back to day 0? I see on the PS3 Game Genie website, they list "Set To Day 0, 00:00" as one of the options so it must be possible? I'm playing on PS3 BTW.
Hey guys i found a way to access it, heres the link for the basic editor http://www.360haven.com/forums/downl...o=file&id=1158 i found if you click on the posters profile in the op's credit section you can access it from there. With the save tool you wont need to hex your save it does it for you :)
Hey xToFxREAPER,
Thanks for the reply.
At this point, Lightning Returns Basic Save Editor doesn't have the HEX code for any unique ability (like Magic Slash, Darkness, Ashura, Siren Strike, etc.).
I'm thinking to try random ability HEX # starting with at010 lol
Is there someone who find those HEX code please ???
I would really like to give Magic Slash without MediGuard to my Comando ;)
After looking around for about an hour, I still can't find Cryska's garb list. If anyone has the list from before the page went down, would you be so kind as to pm it to me? Thnx if you do; Thnx if you can't.
When I try out Hex Editing (or any type of editing), I always Sign and Rehash my saves twice to make sure they take.
Sometimes, it can also be what you've edited recently that can cause the corruption. Use the untouched backup save you (should) have, make your changes, save it as a separate save file (so you don't overwrite your backup copy), and use that new file and see if you still get the corruption message. Hexing, of course, is a simple-but-delicate trial and error.
I hope this helps. I'd help more, but I haven't Hex-edited FFXIII-3: LR yet.
I haven't found how to do that but is there a specific reason why? There is the crystal in the ark that you can use after a first play through. So it must be in the code but if you can't find it in the code, depending on why you want to do that you could come up with a work around.
Also you can hold near 65535 (HEX FFFF) Elixir / any other useful recovery item.
You have a possibility to hold a Maximum of 65535 of each Item. If you have already 65535 Elixir and you found another one (+1), that # will be reset to 0.
I suggest to add 65280 (HEX FF00) so it's more than necessary. ;)
Why bother do that ???
Because it can give you infinite Chronostasis that way!
So you're able to control time with that trick & the Crystal in the Ark :)
Yes, I carry a ton of Elixir and Turbo Ether just to use chronostasis and teleport everywhere. Elixir is great in battles using overclock. But with just these two potions I can control time pretty darn well. Usually I end up sleeping for a bunch of days because of it. Now I'm trying to pace myself a little slower actually because I have too much time and running around extincting species isn't all that exciting to me at this point unless it's final dungeon.
Can I change an ability to a completely different one? I've only been upgrading them. I suspect that changing one might mess up the code and stats though I'm not sure.
Editing ability is possible but have to do it manually. Hope someone gonna make an editor which include the ability mod
Hey all, I've read a ton of stuff but still can't figure out how to edit meonekton for the last one to pop out.
Meonekton needs to be set to 65535 kills for it to become extinct.
Monster offsets starts at either 25D2D or 25C15. You'll have to check your in-game killcount for Meonektons and then see if you can find the right offset. Then just change it to FF FF.
Thank you so much, will try it out.
thenxx!!!!!!!
Good Work On That..
I know this is an older thread, but I've put something together based on the work lobotomizedgod did on this thread, and that of Ward_Point on gamefaqs.com.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...8xqbzgif0/copy
I used it as a simple interface to create hex code for desired abilities.
I just got around to finally learning and carrying out this tutorial and it's amazing! It actually works as long as you are careful. Except for Guards? I just tried to 1 ATB cost my Heroic Guard and it does say 1 ATB in the game even. But it still drains super duper fast in a second or two. Is this intended? For guards, maybe the actual ATB cost is only what you use initially but the rate at which the drain occurs is internally hard-coded and not controlled by the Hex, hence we can't edit?
